Job summary
In order to strengthen our admin team, we are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join the practice.
The Medical Receptionist provides a professional, efficient and patient-focused reception and administrative service within a busy GP Surgery. The post holder acts as the first point of contact for patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring a high standard of customer service while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with Practice policies.
The role supports the smooth running of the practice by managing appointments, responding to patient enquiries, processing clinical administration tasks and assisting the multidisciplinary healthcare team. The post holder will work within the GP surgery systems while promoting patient access to healthcare services.
Main duties of the job
- Work in a busy reception and administration team greeting patients at reception and directing them to the relevant practitioner.
- Answering telephone calls and promptly dealing with patient queries to meet their needs.
- Signposting patients to alternative services where required.
- Dealing with requests from Patients to access on line services
- Other administrative duties as requried
- To work at either the Kenton or Benwell surgery as reqruied

Job summary
We are looking for a Salaried GP to provide 4-6 general surgeries per week on a Monday, Tuesday and/or Friday, although there will be flexibility for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The clinical sessions are delivered over our two sites, in Kenton and Benwell respectively, depending on the needs of the Rota. The work timetable includes participation in the on-call Rota (usually 1 full day per week) and the Care Home Ward Round Rota (one session every 2-3 weeks.)
The surgeries will include clinical admin time as well as protected time for supervision of the medical students if necessary. The role will also include up to 2 lunchtime house calls that will have been triaged by the On-call GP. The start and finish times of the surgeries can be flexible to suit individual needs.
The On-call GP covers both sites from 08:30 am-18 pm as the single point of Access and Triage of all house call requests, Urgent queries from the practice team, community and Hospital teams as well as complex medication queries.
We offer a competitive salary (both experience and qualifications will be considered), indemnity paid (in addition to salary) and 6 weeks annual leave. The post holder will be responsible to the GP Partnership.
DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
To provide General Medical Services, at both sites of Betts Avenue Medical Centre, for registered and temporary patients.
CONTEXT OF POST
The post holder will work closely together with the practice team to provide high quality primary care services to the practice population as required by the surgery in line with approved protocols and evidence based medical practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POST
To manage a caseload, dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting whilst at all times ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
To undertake all duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
- Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract and additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
- Undertake a variety of duties (as agreed) including surgery consultations and Care Home ward, telephone consultations and queries, eConsults, house calls, acute and repeat prescriptions and relevant queries, clinical admin work. Participate in the on-call Rota (one day per week.)
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
To provide General Medical Services, at both sites of Betts Avenue Medical Centre, for registered and temporary patients.
CONTEXT OF POST
The post holder will work closely together with the practice team to provide high quality primary care services to the practice population as required by the surgery in line with approved protocols and evidence based medical practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POST
To manage a caseload, dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting whilst at all times ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
To undertake all duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
- Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract and additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
- Undertake a variety of duties (as agreed) including surgery consultations and Care Home ward, telephone consultations and queries, eConsults, house calls, acute and repeat prescriptions and relevant queries, clinical admin work. Participate in the on-call Rota (one day per week.)
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Develop care plans for health, in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
- Provide counselling and health education.
- Refer patients to other care providers as appropriate.
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes according to GMC standards.
- Collect data for audit purposes.
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).

- On call duties: The on-call GP cover both sites from 08:30 am to 18 pm and does not have any pre-booked surgeries. They will have a number of dedicated urgent/same day slots to use after Triage in other Clinicians' surgeries, including those of nurses and the ACP. The on-call GP is the first point of contact for all urgent queries and requests on the day.
