Job summary

We are looking for someone with initiative, who is flexible, adaptable and able to cope with a busy workload. You will be a quick thinker who can deal with multiple queries on a daily basis and have the ability to problem solve. You will enjoy the responsibility of a varied role including managing the front desk, processing documents, prioritising your work and have excellent communication skills. You must be a strong team player who demonstrates a caring attitude when dealing with patients and colleagues, both on the telephone or in person.
Previous patient facing experience would be an advantage.

Brannam Medical Centre is a busy NHS Medical Practice with 19,500+ patients. We are looking for a member of staff to work part-time hours.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
* Experience of working in an office/the NHS would be desirable, but not essential.

Main duties of the job
The Health Inequalities Project Lead will lead and contribute to the effective delivery of health inequalities projects across North Devon, acting as an enabler and champion of change.
- The role will involve developing and delivering project plans, analysing and presenting data, coordinating meetings, workshops and events, engaging with stakeholders and voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations, writing project reports and supporting grant funding applications.
- The post holder will work in line with the One Northern Devon reducing health inequalities strategy, with a particular focus on workstreams including Closing the Gap, Fuel Poverty, Humanising Services and the equity-focused model of Neighbourhood Health.

Job summary
A new vacancy has arisen for a phlebotomist to join our nursing team at Brannam Medical Centre. Experience preferred but training will be provided for the right candidate.
The successful applicant will be providing support the Nursing Team ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and efficient care within their scope of practice. Duties include taking blood, monitoring of blood pressure, weight and height plus preventative care, health promotion and patient education.
The role will also include training and development of junior health care assistants and students to support improved services for our patients.
You will need to have excellent communication skills, be caring, sensitive and empathetic, have good IT abilities, be able to manage your time, work as a team member and autonomously and can work under pressure in a busy medical practice.
We welcome applicants that are currently working in primary care as well as applicants that have come from a hospital or community background.
Main duties of the job
Follow guidelines and policies for venepuncture and INR star (which you have received appropriate training).
Provide a safe phlebotomy service and ensure correct use of ICE / electronic requesting systems.
Recognise and respond appropriately to adverse patient reactions (e.g.fainting, bleeding).
Ensuring safe storage, rotation and disposals of vaccines, sharps and drugs and that adequate stock levels and adherence to cold chain is maintained.
Stock rotation and ordering of treatment room supplies.
Measuring and recording following physiological measurements in routine presentations.
Assist in practice audits, CQC compliance evidence and QOF recall
Maintain accurate patient records using agreed templates, Read Codes and recall systems.
Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care on system 1.
Maintain strict adherence to Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) standards, including hand hygiene, PPE, and safe disposal of sharps.
Provide a calm, reassuring, and professional service to patients with varying needs.
Attend and participate in staff and Practice meetings and in-house clinical training sessions.
Ability to manage distressed, anxious, or needlephobic patients and work in fastpaced clinics with high through put.
