Intermediate Care and Prevention Programme Aims
The BNSSG Intermediate Care and Prevention Programme brings together system partnersacross health, care and VCSE partners in Bristol, NorthSomersetand South Gloucestershire toimprove and transform intermediate care services.
The programmewillcreate a joined up home first intermediate care system that can support people across BNSSG to regain and maintain their independence, prevent hospital admissions, enable timely discharge and recovery, reduce avoidable use of bedded and long-term care, remove inequalities and achieve better value for money across health and social care resources.
Bristol Foundation Trust is hosting a smallteam on behalf of all system partners to provide the change and programmemanagement support needed to transform intermediate care services.
The programmeteam worksacross and alongside a wide range of system partners, including Bristol Foundation Trust, Sirona Health and Care, Bristol City Council, South Gloucestershire Council, North Somerset Council, the BNSSGG Integrated Care Board, primary care, mental health, VCSE sector, independent providers and other partners.

Job summary
Bristol NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to offer this 9 month fixed term position for a Senior Clinical Fellow to join the Cardiology team at the Bristol Heart Institute to start in October 2026.
The post-holder will have opportunities for training in coronary angiography, echocardiography, complex imaging, electrophysiology and pacing depending on the interests and experience of the successful candidate.
The appointee will join a team of 11 cardiology registrars, including national trainees, and will look after cardiology inpatients, carry out outpatient clinics, and be part of the cardiology oncall rota throughout the post.
The Bristol Heart Institute is a state-of-the art £57m centre dedicated to cardiology, cardiac surgery, cardiac imaging and cardiovascular research. The Department of Cardiology provides a secondary and tertiary service for Bristol and the surrounding areas. The facilityincludes two cardiology wards and five dedicated catheterisation labs. The BHI also provides the 24/7 primary angioplasty service for the immediate catchment and the wider network. Outpatient clinics for general cardiology, as well as specialised clinics including heart failure, valvular heart disease, electrophysiology (EP), intervention and Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) take place in the BHI. A consultant led, post-take cardiology ward round is provided for all emergency admissions with a cardiac problem. This environment provides excellent opportunities for training.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will join a team of 11 cardiology registrars including national trainees. The post will involve secondary and tertiary Cardiology, a full range of interests are represented including interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, imaging, adult congenital heart disease and heart failure. The post holder will input to ward patients, outpatient clinics, and the on-call rota (approximately 1 in 11 - subject to change). There will be opportunities for training in coronary angiography, echocardiography, adult congenital heart disease, complex imaging, electrophysiology and pacing depending on the interests and experience of the successful candidate.
The post is based in the Bristol Heart Institute which provides secondary and tertiary cardiac services in a purpose-built environment. We have 2 cardiology wards, 6 dedicated catheterisation labs and provide Cardiology for the population of south Bristol and North Somerset along with tertiary referrals from the whole of the Avon, Gloucester, Wiltshire and Somerset Cardiac Network. There are excellent opportunities for training.The trainee would be expected to look after the cardiology inpatients on the ward in addition to taking part in outpatient clinics. Specialist sessions such as echocardiography, MRI, CT, coronary angiography and pacing may be possible depending on the skills of the applicant. The post holder will also be expected to support the new Same Day Emergency Care service the department has set up.

Intermediate Care and Prevention Programme Aims
The BNSSG Intermediate Care and Prevention Programme brings together system partnersacross health, care and VCSE partners in Bristol, NorthSomersetand South Gloucestershire toimprove and transform intermediate care services.
The programmewillcreate a joined up home first intermediate care system that can support people across BNSSG to regain and maintain their independence, prevent hospital admissions, enable timely discharge and recovery, reduce avoidable use of bedded and long-term care, remove inequalities and achieve better value for money across health and social care resources.
Bristol Foundation Trust is hosting a smallteam on behalf of all system partners to provide the change and programmemanagement support needed to transform intermediate care services.
The programmeteam worksacross and alongside a wide range of system partners, including Bristol Foundation Trust, Sirona Health and Care, Bristol City Council, South Gloucestershire Council, North Somerset Council, the BNSSGG Integrated Care Board, primary care, mental health, VCSE sector, independent providers and other partners.
Main duties of the job
The Programme Director will provide senior system leadership for the BNSSG Intermediate Care and Prevention Programme, hosted by Bristol Foundation Trust on behalf of health, localauthorityand VCSE partners. The post holder will be accountable forestablishing,directingand assuring a complex, system-wide programme of transformation that improves intermediate care, prevention, discharge,recoveryand independence outcomes for the population of Bristol, NorthSomersetand South Gloucestershire.
The role willoperateat senior leadership level across organisational boundaries, working with acute, community, mental health, primary care, local authority, ICB, VCSE and independent sector partners. The post holder will translate national policy, local strategy and population need into a coherent programme mandate, delivery plan, investment and benefits case, governanceframeworkand implementation approach.
The Programme Director will hold overall responsibility for programme grip, benefits realisation, delivery assurance, stakeholder alignment, risk escalation, resourcedeploymentand the leadership of asmall hostedprogramme team. The existing Band 8b Programme Lead role will report to this post and will lead delegated workstreams within the overall programme architecture.

- The Renal Dialysis Unit is located at Southmead Hospital. This unit is run by the part of the Richard Bright Renal Unit, a regional renal transplant center with five Haemodialysis Satellite Units across the South West area. Renal Dialysis Unit is the main dialysis unit within NBT, having 15 slots in the morning , afternoon and twilight. We work long days, 11.5 hour shifts
- As a Registered Nurse working in our service, you will be supported to learn the skills required to manage patients requiring renal replacement, both haemodialysis/ hemodiafiltration.
- Development opportunities - you will develop expert skills in haemodialysis and renal specialist care and have access to educational opportunities to attend renal specialist courses.
- The Richard Bright renal unit also has an acute haemodialysis unit, an inpatient renal dialysis, home dialysis unit team and renal transplant ward based in the Brunel Building, Southmead Hospital, Bristol.
- If successful, the post-holder will be expected to work 50% Saturdays and 50% twilight shifts.
This is a part time role, working 34.50 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
As a Registered Nurse within our department, you will:
- Provide specialist clinical care for patients with chronic renal failure requiring haemodialysis treatment within a nurse led unit
- Take responsibility for the holistic care of a group of patients and their families attending regular treatment sessions and assist in the organisation of work as required
- Be given the opportunity to take charge of the ward alongisde a Sister/ Charge Nurse to develop co-ordination and leadership skills
- Work within and lead a clinical care team
- Take personal responsibility and accountability for ensuring that Trust and local policies and procedures are known and followed and will ensure duties are carried out in accordance with the advisory guidelines and practice set out in the NMC code of Professional conduct
- Be responsible for assessment, planning, provision, maintenance and evaluation of patient care
- Take responsibility for the supervision and guidance of other staff including health care assistants and students on a daily basis.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our Reception team on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

This post is part time Monday to Sunday (including Bank Holidays), and requires flexibility to ensure the Reception area is covered between the hours of 07:30 to 20:00 to accommodate the needs of the service, and must also be able to be flexible with working days to provide cover for colleagues.
Role is not suitable for Students due to needing complete flexibility for the rota.

Opportunities have arisen in the Medical Record Departments at University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Trust.
We are currently looking to recruit staff to work in both Bristol and Weston so please indicate which site you are interested in.
We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our busy medical records department.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday between 0700 and 1700, and negotiable with the successful applicant.
This Job is not entirely desk based and is quite physical, as the position requires you to be adaptable as the role encompasses various tasks that are physically demanding, including handling large volumes of patient medical records as well as retrieving and delivery of patient casenotes across the Trust.
Previous clerical experience and knowledge of filing systems is not essential as full training of the system will be given.
Your application should detail how you are an organised team player who can also work independently. This role requires you to self-manage in a team environment and work to daily deadlines.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Cardiac Surgery team at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, one of the UK's longest-established congenital cardiac surgical centres.
The Cardiac programme has continued to grow since its move from the Bristol Royal Infirmary in 1995 and, in 2024, delivered 411 operations for congenital heart disease across paediatric and adult patients.
The service manages the full spectrum of congenital heart conditions (excluding cardiac transplantation) and provides seamless care for adolescents and adults through close collaboration with the Bristol Heart Institute.
Postoperative care is delivered on the Paediatric Intensive Care Units, with the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit serving as the tertiary centre for the South West and offering advanced therapies including HFOV, nitric oxide, neonatal and paediatric post-cardiotomy ECMO, peritoneal dialysis, and haemofiltration.
Main duties of the job
This full-time 1 WTE post forms part of the registrar rota in Congenital Cardiac Surgery and offers a high-quality training environment within a small, supportive team of consultants, a rotating specialist trainee, and four fellows.
The role is designed for a senior cardiac surgical trainee intending to pursue a career in congenital cardiac surgery, ideally with an academic component.
Applicants are expected to have completed adult cardiac surgical training and hold FRCS or equivalent, along with at least two years of dedicated congenital cardiac surgical experience.
The post includes involvement in pre-operative assessment, intra-operative participation aligned to experience, and post-operative management, with the fellow acting as first on-call for postoperative patients.

Dermatology is one of the largest specialities within our Trust and the admin team are responsible for routine, urgent skin cancer and day case surgery patients.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cardiology department in Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (BFT) as a Consultant with Special Interest in Imaging and Heart Failure.
This post is key to delivering Echocardiography, including TOE, and Heart Failure services within Cardiology at Southmead (base hospital) and the Bristol Heart Institute. Expertise in Cardiac MRI are also desirable.
With a combined workforce of 28,000 and a budget over £2.1 billion, BFT is delivering a Joint Clinical Strategy aimed at tackling health inequalities, improving outcomes, and delivering better value for patients, staff, and the public.
Cardiology care at BFT is delivered in the Brunel building at Southmead Hospital and at the Bristol Heart Institute at Bristol Royal Infirmary.
The post holder will need to have a CCT in Cardiology with subspecialisation in Echocardiography, TOE and Heart Failure (Cardiac MRI is also desirable) and be well experienced in the in-patient and out-patient management of patients with General Cardiology diagnoses.
Applicants should have a CCT or be within six months of achieving this at the date of interview or be listed on the GMC's specialist register to be eligible for application for a substantive post. CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.
Main duties of the job
The individual will work flexibly, across sites to fulfil high professional standards contributing to Departmental, Division and Trust priorities.
The postholder will:
- Have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and for the proper functioning of the service undertaking the associated administrative duties
- Required to work in partnership with colleagues of all disciplines, external links to the Trust and service users, to ensure the creation of a quality service.
- Participate in the Consultant of the Week (COW) rota. Duites include the running of the Coronary Care Unit for the week, responsibility for patients on the general Cardiology ward. COW, a daily ward round on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) to discuss new referrals, and reviewing Cardiology referrals highlighted by the Cardiology Middle Grades.
- Support the Heart Failure and Echocardiography services at BFT and work closely with the Cardiac Physiology team.
- Deliver outpatient care through regular clinics at the Southmead site and attend MDT meetings.
- Provide commitment to maintaining professional expertise by attendance at meetings and courses, and completion of diaries for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is essential. Also essential is that the postholder have an annual appraisal and undergo revalidation as required.

Job summary
The need for Consultant Dermatologists who are trained to a higher level in Medical Dermatology than the current CCT standard necessitates a post-CCT curriculum in Advanced Medical Dermatology .
This fellowship is designed to deliver the Post-CCT curriculum and to enable the post holder to rapidly acquire skills needed to deliver high quality specialist services for complex medical dermatology patients in specific areas of sub-specialisation.
Post-CCT Fellows will be expected to deliver service within the NHS appropriate to a newly qualified consultant, but will gain experience of independent practice in advanced medical dermatology in a working environment where there is support from highly experienced specialists.
Fellowship training usually occurs over 12 months but may be extended to support less than full time training.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working at level of junior consultant, with competence to deal with general medical dermatology in an unsupervised capacity, but with provision of supervision for tertiary referral level specialist work.
The post will include will include: out-patient clinics and on call, including review of acute ward referrals; supervision of trainees on call and in clinic, attendance at relevant MDT meetings and regular biopsy list.
Clinics should include a specialist biologics clinic in psoriasis, specialist biologics clinic in eczema, specialist clinic in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) , and flexibility to include other clinics depending on candidate choice, eg specialist clinic in blistering, oral dermatology, Lymphoma, Graft versus Host Disease (GVHD), severe urticaria, hair loss, connective tissue disease.

The successful candidate will provide dietetic cover to the gastroenterology ward involving oral nutritional support and enteral feeding across a variety of conditions. Job summary
An exciting new role for NICU Family Integrated Care lead has arisen for an enthusiastic, forward thinking Nurse/Midwife with previous Band 6 experience in a clinical NICU setting. The postholder will fulfil a key role within the unit and will ensure that Family Integrated Care ethos is embedded within the service. They will play a key role in optimising the clinical environment using a Family Integrated Care (Ficare) framework such as BAPM Framework for Practice, providing resources for staff, parents and their families. They will collaborate with AHP teams, nurse education teams, clinical psychology leads, chaplaincy teams and infant feeding liaison on Ficare education and training. The post holder will show leadership in the management of consistency of practice, high standards of care, innovative practice with a focus on family care, patient safety and as a subject-matter expert for staff and parents throughout the family journey.
You will be part of an MDT working within a level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within the Southwest Neonatal Network serving the northern part of the network. The unit has 32 cots comprising of 8 intensive care, 8 high dependency and 16 special care cots.
To ensure that nursing practice is contemporary, the role will include a clinical shift once a week, supporting the NICU roster. A minimum of 34.5 hours over 4 days per week will be considered.
Main duties of the job
To collaborate and work in partnership to promote, support and assess a Ficare culture across all aspects of neonatal care. This includes liaison with the local neonatal and maternity services (LMNS); community neonatal, maternity, and paediatric services; network neonatal and maternity team, health visiting, social services; and national groups where necessary to achieve National/local guidelines and accreditation.
- Ensure the service has a written philosophy of Ficare and all staff are fully aware of the standards required
- To initiate and educate around the principles of family integrated care to all care givers
- Work alongside infant feeding leads, lactation Consultants to support the unit in maintaining UNICEF Baby Friendly Accreditation
- To support in the achievement of Ficare international, national accreditations
- Collaborate with nurse education teams to promote and deliver Ficare teaching strategies
- To educate the family and staff members to understand the baby's psychological and behavioural cues during the routine medical and nursing ward rounds
- Participate in relevant Network meetings and MDT groups to represent your local unit and ensure there is a good communication feedback mechanism in place within the neonatal unit
