We are seeking an experienced & values-driven Deputy
Chief Operating Officer to join the BPAS Senior Leadership Team at a
significant time for the organisation.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Deputy Chief
Operating Officer will help to shape operational strategy, lead transformation
providing a clear direction of travel that aligns with business and
transformation plans, & ensure the highest standards of patient care across a
national healthcare charity.
Working closely with Executive colleagues & senior
leaders, you will help ensure BPAS has the leadership, workforce & organisational resilience needed to deliver high-quality care & support to
the women we serve.
Main duties of the job
As Deputy Chief Operating Officer, you will provide senior operational leadership across BPAS, helping to translate strategy into operational delivery & leading programmes that improve access, quality, productivity & patient outcomes.
You will work collaboratively with operational, nursing, midwifery & medical leaders to drive innovation, improve performance and support the development of new models of care and service delivery.
About You
We are looking for a senior operational leader with significant leadership experience in a complex multi-site and/or regulated environment.
You will bring:
- Experience within reproductive healthcare, women's health or a related specialty is essential.
- A proven track record of senior operational leadership.
- Experience of delivering large-scale service transformation & improvement.
- Significant experience of performance management, capacity planning, KPI delivery and corrective action plans.
- Experience of managing resources, large budgets and/or cost improvements.
- Strong understanding of governance, risk management and quality assurance.
- Excellent relationship-building & influencing skills, with the ability to work across professional & organisational boundaries
- The ability to lead confidently through change, balancing strategic thinking with operational delivery.

Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare?
We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical teams at our Milton Keynes and Northampton units. You will work 23.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday. More details can be found in the further information section below.
About the role
As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy. You'll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery. This role will involve providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.
About You
You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration and PIN. You'll have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding and Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.
You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills and you will be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way.
Main duties of the job
- You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
- Provide information on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform and confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
- Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
- Carry out post treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns
- Complete relevant paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
- To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
We are also looking for:
- Sound & accurate administrative competence with attention to detail
- Gynaecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual health, contraception
- Venepuncture / cannulation skills
- Comfortable using IT and Microsoft Packages including Outlook, Word and Microsoft Teams.

About You
You will have proven experience of working within an office environment, where you've carried out administration duties. Main duties of the job
- Answer and direct telephone queries, liaising with both internal and external colleagues, as necessary.
- Accurately check or complete BPAS and legal paperwork, ensuring all relevant documentation is available for the clients episode of care.
- Monitor, edit and amend appointment list, using as appropriate BPAS booking system, informing clients if changes to their appointment become necessary.
- Assist in the monitoring, control and ordering of stock, sort and distribute incoming mail and prepare and despatch statistical information and reports.

- Experience of dealing face to face with patients who may be upset, within a care environment.

Job summary
Are you a treatment doctor who has experience of operating with Termination of Pregnancy between 13+6 and 24 weeks or do you have a willingness to train and progress towards working safely and competently at higher gestations within the legal limit?
We have 50 clinics nationwide and we are currently looking for doctors who can provide terminations of pregnancy from 7.5hrs a week to 30 hours a week supporting any of our clinics in the North - Doncaster, Merseyside, Leeds, Middlesbrough and Chester.

BPAS are looking for dynamic, skilled doctors who can work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support our national services. You will hold a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, full GMC registration with a license to practice, and are passionate and committed to reproductive healthcare.

Job summary
BPAS are looking for a Surgeon to perform terminations of pregnancy in our Doncaster Clinic. This role would be every Wednesday.
As a treatment doctor/surgeon you will provide safe, effective and comprehensive surgical and medical terminations of pregnancy to BPAS clients.
This role is working at BPAS Doncaster with the option to provide services in other areas nationally if you are able. We welcome candidates who currently operate between 13+6 and 24 weeks, along with those who are keen to train and progress towards working safely and competently at higher gestations within the legal limit.
BPAS is an independent healthcare charity which has been advocating and caring for women and couples who decide to end a pregnancy for more than 50 years. We are the leading specialists of abortion advice and treatment in the UK, taking care of almost 80,000 women each year in over 50 clinics nationwide. Nearly all the women we see have their care paid for by the NHS.
About You
With a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent and full General Medical Council registration plus a license to practice, you will be passionate and committed to reproductive healthcare. You will ensure that all BPAS clients are treated in a professional and caring way and have unwavering support for a woman's right to choose abortion.
A good communicator you enjoy building strong working relationships across the business and enjoy maintaining such relationships as well.

Working closely with the Media and Campaigns Manager, Head of Campaigns and Communications and wider Strategic Communications directorate, you will provide operational and administrative support across multiple areas of work.
The role
This is an opportunity for someone looking to develop their experience across communications, media, campaigning and fundraising. You will support the day-to-day operation of the press office, maintain media contacts and supporter databases, and monitor media and campaign activity to produce reports and insights.
You will also support the delivery of email campaigns through Mailchimp, including scheduling, audience segmentation, A/B testing and performance analysis. Alongside this, you will assist with campaign activity, events and supporter engagement, as well as providing administrative support for fundraising initiatives and responding to donor enquiries.
This is a permanent, full time position working 36 hours per week over Monday to Friday. A hybrid role where you will work 1 day a week from our London office and the remaining from home.
Main duties of the job
- Support the day-to-day operation of the press office and monitoring of media activity
- Maintain media contacts, supporter records and campaign databases
- Build, schedule and analyse email campaigns through Mailchimp
- Support the planning, delivery and evaluation of campaign activity and supporter engagement
- Work across Communications, Campaigns, Advocacy and Fundraising to support integrated delivery
- Monitor campaign and fundraising performance and produce reports and insights
- Respond to donor enquiries and support effective supporter care and stewardship
- Provide administrative support for fundraising initiatives and wider team activity
About You
We're looking for someone with experience in communications, campaigning, media, fundraising or supporter engagement, alongside experience providing administrative support within a professional environment. You will be confident using digital communications tools, databases and email platforms, with good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
You'll have strong writing and communication skills, excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for detail. You will be able to manage multiple priorities, analyse information and produce clear reports and summaries.

Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare?
We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical team in our Luton unit working.
We have two roles - 27.5hrs and 22.5hrs. A detailed shift pattern along with salary information can be found below.
About the role
You will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception, and vasectomy. You will be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment and will work in all areas of the unit including theatre and recovery. This role will involve providing treatment and clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.
About You
You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration and PIN. You will have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding & Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.
With excellent interpersonal & communication skills you will be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way. You will also be comfortable using IT & MS Packages including Outlook, Word & MS Teams.
Main duties of the job
- You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
- Provide information on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform and confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
- Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
- Carry out post treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns
- Complete relevant paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
- To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
We are also looking for:
- Sound & accurate administrative competence with attention to detail
- Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual health, contraception
- Venepuncture / cannulation skills

The Appointment Advisor is the first point of contact for all BPAS patients. You will primarily make appointments & answer all patient related queries in a professional & empathetic manner, ensuring you always provide an efficient patient-centred service.
Based in our Booking & Information centre in Leamington Spa, you get to work with a friendly group of people, in a modern well-equipped office that offers free parking, a break room with tea, coffee and snacks, and great facilities nearby for your lunch break.
Home to over 100 colleagues, the BIC deal with over 6000 contacts on a weekly basis via phone & email. The BIC team are non-judgmental & offer first class client care.

You will work 24 hours flexibly over Sunday to Saturday, a rota is given in advance. This role will become a hybrid role once you have been signed off your 3 month competency.

Job summary
Are you a sonographer looking for a new role where you can use your specialist knowledge of obstetrics & gynaecology ultrasound?
We're looking for an experienced Sonographer to join our Clinical Teams working in our unit in Birmingham Central. This is for 15 hours per week on Mondays and Tuesdays.
As a sonographer at BPAS, you will be performing high-quality obstetric dating scans as well as gynaecological scans to assess for RPOC. The main focus of the role consists of early pregnancy/dating scans but also dating in the second trimester performing HC measurements to determine a gestational age & post-treatment checks.
About you:
You will be a qualified sonographer or registered Adult Nurse or Midwife but must possess a minimum Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound qualification. You'll have a minimum of 1 years experience since the completion of your Post Graduate Certification and will be registered with a professional body, either the NMC or HCPC.
You'll be client-focused & someone who considers themselves a team player. As subject matter experts, you will be expected to advise, support & occasionally mentor BPAS Nurses or Midwives who have undertaken a basic CASE-accredited Ultrasound course, should they require a second opinion or input from a more qualified Ultrasound practitioner.

Job summary
BPAS are looking for a Surgeon to perform terminations of pregnancy in our Doncaster Clinic. This role would be every Wednesday.
As a treatment doctor/surgeon you will provide safe, effective and comprehensive surgical and medical terminations of pregnancy to BPAS clients.
This role is working at BPAS Doncaster with the option to provide services in other areas nationally if you are able. We welcome candidates who currently operate between 13+6 and 24 weeks, along with those who are keen to train and progress towards working safely and competently at higher gestations within the legal limit.
BPAS is an independent healthcare charity which has been advocating and caring for women and couples who decide to end a pregnancy for more than 50 years. We are the leading specialists of abortion advice and treatment in the UK, taking care of almost 80,000 women each year in over 50 clinics nationwide. Nearly all the women we see have their care paid for by the NHS.
About You
With a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent and full General Medical Council registration plus a license to practice, you will be passionate and committed to reproductive healthcare. You will ensure that all BPAS clients are treated in a professional and caring way and have unwavering support for a woman's right to choose abortion.
A good communicator you enjoy building strong working relationships across the business and enjoy maintaining such relationships as well.
Main duties of the job
- Carry out termination of pregnancy by the appropriate method to evacuate the products of conception and ensure complete abortion and in accordance with BPAS clinical policies and procedures
- Complete client consultation if needed and complete the statutory documentation
- Assess and provide advice on the management of clients with medical or other conditions which may affect the abortion process.
- Be present in the operating theatre throughout each procedure and remain on site until all clients have been assessed fit for discharge from recovery or passed to the care of another on-site doctor
- Provide support, advice and guidance to nursing staff in the management of unexpected outcomes
We are also looking for:
- Experience of independent practice for any abortion procedures/gestations relevant to the post, or willingness to be trained in-house.
- Knowledge of termination of pregnancy procedures and the assessment and management of complications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to be pro-active and flexible
- Experience of IUD/Implant insertion along with knowledge of sexual health issues
- Willing to travel to other locations within the region and/or work flexibly

We're looking for a Domestic Assistant to join our professional and dedicated team at BPAS Doncaster, on a part time, permanent basis. You will carry out cleaning duties within the unit in accordance with agreed levels and standards.
This role is working 23 hours per week, Monday to Friday. A detailed shift pattern and salary information can be found below.
About You
You'll have experience of household cleaning and knowledge of cleaning procedures with regard to the correct use of cleaning materials and equipment. You'll have practical cleaning techniques and will be able to apply these to the workplace.

Main duties of the job
- Clean the premises to include cleaning work tops, dusting of telephones, furniture, window ledges & any other fixtures.
- Monitor stock of cleaning materials for ordering by the Treatment Unit Manager, & stock toilets with sufficient supplies.
- Assist in the washing and ironing of all dirty linen daily, observing strict control of infection controls.
- Mark and date all linen before putting into circulation and regularly check all linen for repair/replacement and take out of use.
- Periodically wipe down paint work, carry out high dusting, wash inside of windows and clean window blinds.
- To vacuum carpets, sweep and mop floors.
- To empty bins and dispose of waste in accordance with BPAS procedures.
- To clean toilet areas including toilet, washbasins, window ledges, cupboards, and bins.
- Use all cleaning materials in accordance with COSHH and Health & Safety Regulations, and comply with cross infection instructions with regard to cleaning materials and equipment.

As a Safeguarding Specialist Nurse or Midwife, you will be supporting the development, regional implementation & monitoring of BPAS safeguarding strategy, policy, and procedures.
This is an important and special role in a unique area of reproductive healthcare. This role involves working 37.5 hours per week, over Monday to Friday. Homebased with regular travel to all BPAS North East locations on a weekly basis.
This role is on a 12 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave.
About You
You will be a registered adult nurse or midwife who is safeguarding level 3 qualified and has demonstrable experience of providing expert advice and engaging colleagues in a positive way. You will have knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation and practices. IT literate, you will be adept at developing policies, guidelines and projects from initiation to completion. By keeping calm under pressure, you will be able to work through multiple priorities at the same time.
Main duties of the job
- Support managers to instil a culture within BPAS that has safeguarding at its core.
- Support the Lead Nurse in advising the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on BPAS responsibilities around safeguarding
- Act as first point of contact for BPAS staff seeking information and advice on clients with safeguarding/vulnerability concerns
- Develop and maintain a central log of all safeguarding queries/requests for support or advice
- Provide expert level of knowledge, leadership and professional advice in relation to safeguarding children and adults across BPAS
- Provide expert safeguarding representation at meetings or committees as required
- Supporting staff in attendance at safeguarding case reviews if needed
- Support the investigation of serious incidents relating to safeguarding, and external Serious Case Reviews
- Support Treatment Unit Managers to liaise with Local Safeguarding Boards

Do you enjoy working within a busy office or reception environment, where no two days are the same?
We are looking for an experienced Admin Assistant to come and join our Warwickshire Cluster for 20 hours per week over Monday to Saturday. The role covers our units in Coventry, Nuneaton and Stratford. More details can be found in the further information section below.
You'll work as part of the team in carrying out administration tasks in an efficient and friendly manner ensuring that clients feel accepted, supported, and confident about BPAS services.
About You
You will have proven experience of working within an office environment, where you've carried out administration duties. You will be an excellent communicator both internally and externally and will demonstrate a friendly and positive attitude when interacting with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
Main duties of the job
- Answer and direct telephone queries, liaising with both internal and external colleagues, as necessary.
- Accurately check or complete BPAS and legal paperwork, ensuring all relevant documentation is available for the clients episode of care.
- Monitor, edit and amend appointment list, using as appropriate BPAS booking system, informing clients if changes to their appointment become necessary.
- Assist in the monitoring, control and ordering of stock, sort and distribute incoming mail and prepare and despatch statistical information and reports.
We are also looking for:
- Experience of dealing face to face with patients who may be upset, within a care environment.
- Knowledge of clerical procedures including checking documentation, telephone, and reception duties.
- Good attention to detail, supportive towards colleagues and clients and is an effective team player.

Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare?
We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical team within our Richmond, London Unit. You will work full-time, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. More details can be found in the further information section below.
About the role
As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy. You'll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery. This role will involve providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.
About You
You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration and PIN. You'll have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding and Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.
You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills and you will be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way.
Main duties of the job
- You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
- Provide information on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform and confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
- Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
- Carry out post treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns
- Complete relevant paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
- To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
We are also looking for:
- Sound & accurate administrative competence with attention to detail
- Gynaecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual health, contraception
- Venepuncture / cannulation skills
- Comfortable using IT and Microsoft Packages including Outlook, Word and Microsoft Teams.
