Job summary
Excellent opportunity to join our dedicated Obstetrics & Gynaecology team as a Band 4 Senior Medical Secretary. This is a rewarding role for an experienced and motivated individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality administrative support within the NHS.
As a Senior Medical Secretary, you will work closely with consultants, nurses and multidisciplinary teams, providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to ensure patients receive timely, efficient and compassionate care. We are looking for someone with excellent organisational and communication skills, a proactive approach to problem solving, and the ability to manage a varied workload in a busy clinical environment. Previous medical secretarial experience and a commitment to providing an excellent service to both patients and colleagues are essential.
In return, you will join a friendly, supportive and experienced team that values collaboration, development and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to make a real difference to women's healthcare, supporting services that impact thousands of patients and families across our community.
If you take pride in delivering outstanding administrative support and want to be part of a team dedicated to providing high-quality NHS care, we would love to hear from you.

As a Band 4 Senior Medical Secretary within Obstetrics & Gynaecology, you will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to consultants and the wider clinical team, helping to deliver an efficient, patient-centred service. Key responsibilities include managing clinical correspondence, processing referrals, arranging investigations and responding to patient and GP enquiries in a professional and compassionate manner.
You will support the training and development of Band 3 secretarial staff, new starters and less experienced colleagues, while helping to manage workloads, prioritise urgent tasks and contribute to service improvements. Using a range of hospital systems, you will maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with NHS policies, information governance standards and departmental procedures.
Working as part of a busy and rewarding team, you will liaise closely with consultants, nurses and allied health professionals to support the smooth running of the service. The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
