Job summary
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (please change where appropriate e.g. Health Innovation Wessex (HIW) etc) is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Job Title: Operations Coordinator - Cancer Care
Contract Type: Permanent
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in the Cancer Care Care group. We are looking for a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about improving patient pathways, enhancing service delivery, and driving continuous improvement.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Operational Coordinator to join the Cancer Care team. As part of our team you will play a key role in supporting operational performance, ensuring patient pathways are effectively coordinated and meet Trust and national access standards.
You will directly line manage Specialty Administrative Team Leaders, providing clear guidance and support to enable high-quality patient care, while ensuring efficient and consistent pathway management.
You will be a proactive problem-solver, confident in addressing ad hoc challenges, escalating risks where needed, and championing new ways of working. Strong organisational skills, adaptability, and a fair, inclusive leadership style are essential, along with a commitment to excellence and service improvement.
We welcome and encourage prospective applicants to contact us for an informal discussion.
About us
As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated 'Good' by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.
We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 30% lower than London and 17 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.
We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

About us
Marie Curie is the UKs leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness theyre likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life.Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

Job summary
A Care Navigator is a very special person! They are the first port of call for patients and they respond to requests for GP appointments, made by patients either on the phone or in person. With training and support, they will triage the patient non-clinically, and signpost to the appropriate service or person, which may not necessarily be the GP. They will work in a reception hub alongside their colleagues (a team of 12) or on front desk reception.
We are looking for someone who is flexible enough to cover early starts (8am) and late finishes (6.30pm) across the week working around 30 hours per week including a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at least.
Salary starts at £13.00 per hour with an increase after you pass probation.
If you have applied previously please do not apply again.
Main duties of the job
This is a challenging but very satisfying role.
Patients rely on our care navigators to listen, advise and point them in the right direction. Often, patients themselves do not know what they need in terms of their health and it is up to a trained navigator to support them. Our team prides itself on the care and customer service we offer. Our access to appointments is excellent and prompt, but we rely on our navigators to ensure that the right person is seen at the right time by the right clinician (not necessarily the doctor!) This takes tact and diplomacy as well as patience.
About us
East Trees Health Centre is based in inner city Bristol. We are a training practice with a list size of 15000 patients.
Our practice team comprises of 4 partners, 7 salaried GPs, a paramedic, nurse practitioner, physio, podiatrist, dietitians, care co-ordinator, care navigators, administrators, nurses and pharmacy team. We are a very friendly, close knit team and have regular staff and team meetings to ensure communication is consistent.
