Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia Trust Registrar
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust View all jobs
Posted 11 day(s) ago
Reference: 2419218
Job summary
The Trust Fellow post in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care is based at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
The post is agreed for six months initially with potential for extension, subject to review. This post is ideally suited to those who have completed the modular components of a Core Training programme in anaesthesia and the primary FRCA and who are seeking further clinical experience and portfolio-boosting opportunities in readiness for application to specialty training.
Main duties of the job
Daytime work will be apportioned between the cardiothoracic intensive care unit, cardiothoracic theatres, GA cases in the cardiac cath labs and Anaesthetic Pre-assessment Clinics. Consultant supervision will be provided at all times due to the high risk nature of the speciality. Out of hours, the primary responsibility is to the cardiac intensive care unit; however the opportunity for supervised emergency cath lab and theatre work is available. There is a hybrid rota of anaesthetic registrars and ACCP's covering the cardiothoracic critical care unit on a 1 in 9 rota which is EWTD compliant and receives appropriate banding. A typical on-call shift will consist of two residents from: Trust grade doctors, advanced critical care practitioners (ACCPs), rotating anaesthetic specialty registrars and senior advanced trainees in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia. Cardiothoracic surgical registrar support is also available 24/7 alongside support from the general anaesthetic and critical care teams.
About us
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust have come together to form University Hospitals Tees. As a result, post holders may be required to work across sites within both organisations.
Across University Hospitals Tees, our ambition is to be the best place to work, ensuring we have the right staff in the right roles at the right time to deliver outstanding patient care and experience.
We are committed to supporting our staff through an inclusive and supportive working environment, offering health and wellbeing initiatives, staff benefits, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
We support the 'Making Every Contact Count' approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
Clinical experience will be afforded by time spent in both cardiothoracic theatres and intensive care unit. There are a significant number of transferrable skills for all areas of anaesthetic and critical care practice that can be developed through experience with cardiothoracic surgical and critically ill cardiology patients. These key skills will be invaluable in the safe management of sick and unstable patients as one progresses through training positions of increasing seniority. We also encourage and support the development of skills and accreditation in critical care ultrasound as many of the Consultant body are both TOE and FUSIC mentors/supervisors.

Job description
Job responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in shaping and delivering digital transformation across NHS West Yorkshire ICB and 88 GP practices. Working within the Leeds GP & Corporate IT team, you will help drive the transition from traditional on-premises technologies to modern cloud-based services that support both corporate functions and frontline primary care.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading change, delivering complex technology programmes and helping organisations embrace new ways of working. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical teams, practice managers, senior leaders, suppliers and partner organisations, helping them maximise the benefits of Microsoft 365, Azure technologies and nationally provided NHS digital services.
Current priorities include delivering large-scale transformation programmes such as the migration of GP practice infrastructure, file services and business systems from on-premises environments to Microsoft cloud platforms, supporting the migration of identity and access management to Azure, expanding Microsoft Intune device management across primary care and corporate services, and helping organisations fully adopt the capabilities of the NHS shared tenant and Microsoft 365 ecosystem. This includes SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Entra ID, cloud security technologies and modern collaboration tools.
The role will also support the development of cloud-first operating models, helping staff work more effectively through modern, secure and agile digital services. We are at the beginning of an ambitious programme to automate business processes through our dedicated Microsoft Power Platform environment, creating opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve efficiency and deliver smarter ways of working across the organisation. The postholder will contribute to a growing portfolio of digital transformation projects designed to modernise technology platforms, improve staff experience and support better outcomes for patients.
Working alongside the IT Operations Manager and with support from the IT Technical Manager, you will help shape technical roadmaps, coordinate migration activities, support cloud adoption, develop implementation plans and ensure solutions are delivered in line with organisational and national standards. As the role develops, there will be opportunities to build deeper technical expertise in Microsoft cloud technologies, identity management, endpoint management, automation, security and modern workplace solutions.
We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking individual with strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills, who can confidently engage with both technical and non-technical audiences. Whether your background is in infrastructure, cloud technologies, project delivery or digital transformation, you will have a passion for improving services through technology and helping organisations embrace new ways of working.
In return, you will join a supportive team delivering one of the largest digital modernisation programmes in primary care, with the opportunity to influence how cloud technologies, digital services and modern workplace solutions evolve across health and care organisations throughout West Yorkshire.

Reference: 2419203
Job summary
This vacancy is for a number of positions throughout Yorkshire, covering North, South, East and West Yorkshire.
An Ambulance Support Worker (ASW) responds to emergency calls alongside a paramedic, helping them to provide patients with potentially life-saving care and, where needed, getting patients to hospital. They attend every kind of accident and emergency, sometimes covering considerable distances, using expert emergency driving skills to get to the scene with the greatest speed possible.
The role of ASW can provide an excellent opportunity to further develop a career in healthcare and within Yorkshire Ambulance Service. You will be required to undertake a Level 3 Ambulance Support Worker Apprenticeship. This is a nationally recognised qualification that demonstrates your operational competency in the care field. Following successful completion, it will enable you to benefit from career progression within the Trust, including development opportunities to become a HCPC-registered paramedic.
Please note: This vacancy is open to applicants seeking a base station throughout North, South, East and West Yorkshire. Applicants should apply for their preferred base location within Yorkshire.
Main duties of the job

This is a stimulating, rewarding and challenging role, and it is important to recognise that it is not a career path for everyone. No two shifts will ever be the same. You could find yourself responding to a road traffic collision involving patients with multiple serious injuries, or supporting the transfer of a critically ill baby to a specialist treatment centre.
As an Ambulance Support Worker, you will be a highly visible representative and role model for Yorkshire Ambulance Service. The way you communicate and conduct yourself is just as important as the care you provide. You will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, compassion and respect when working with patients, members of the public and colleagues.
As part of the role, you will be required to demonstrate and maintain a consistently high standard of emergency driving in accordance with UK national standards. You will also be required to successfully complete the Level 3 Emergency Ambulance Response Driving qualification, developing the specialist driving skills needed to safely respond to emergency incidents and transport patients.

We employ more than 7,100 staff, who together with over 1,300 volunteers, enable us to provide a vital 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, emergency and healthcare service.
Our values: Kindness, Respect, Teamwork and Improvement are at the heart of all we do.
What we can offer you:
