Lead and manage a defined laboratory service, overseeing clinical delivery, development, staff support, clinician liaison and reporting.
-
Work with the Lead Scientist to maintain and develop services across local, regional and national networks, ensuring effective communication with clinical teams and laboratory departments.
-
Act as a designated quality lead (e.g., Audit or EQA), contributing to departmental, directorate and wider national/international quality structures.
-
Check and countersign reports across multiple services, ensuring accuracy of results, validity of calculations and clarity and consistency of clinical interpretation.
About us
At Sheffield Children's, our purpose is clear: to provide healthier futures for children and young people. Our three strategic aims are Outstanding Patient Care, Brilliant Place to Work, and Leaders in Children's Health.
We work with partners across local, regional, and national levels to deliver physical and mental healthcare in both acute and community settings. Many of our clinicians are nationally and internationally recognised for their expertise.
We're proud that 73% of colleagues would recommend Sheffield Children's as a place to work, placing us among the top five NHS trusts in England -- and the top-ranked trust in the North East and Yorkshire -- in the latest NHS Staff Survey.

As we approach our 150th anniversary in 2026, we're excited to keep building our leadership in children's health, improve experiences for patients and staff, and focus on our communities and population health.

Reference: 156-8305582
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust as a Clinical Administration Services Manager, playing a key leadership role in our newly established Clinical Administration Service.
This is more than a traditional administration management role. We are transforming how clinical administration is delivered across the Trust, creating a professional, resilient and future-ready service that supports high-quality patient pathways, operational performance and patient experience.
Reporting to the Head of Patient Services, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across designated services, developing high-performing teams and working collaboratively with clinical, operational and corporate colleagues.
You will play a central role in shaping the service, leading through change, strengthening leadership capability, developing our workforce and embedding a culture of continuous improvement. Using data and insight, you will drive performance and identify opportunities to improve quality, consistency and efficiency.
You will also help prepare Clinical Administration Services for the Trust's digital transformation and electronic patient record (eCare) implementation.
We are looking for an ambitious, compassionate and inspiring leader with significant management experience who can build strong relationships, develop people and translate strategic ambitions into effective operational delivery.
Main duties of the job
As Clinical Administration Services Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for our Reception and Ward Administration teams, ensuring high-quality, efficient and resilient support to patient pathways.
You will provide visible and compassionate leadership to approximately 155 WTE across Cornwall, developing high-performing teams and ensuring effective workforce deployment, service resilience and operational performance.
Working closely with clinical, operational and corporate colleagues, you will ensure services support safe and effective patient pathways and contribute to key access, quality and performance standards. You will use workforce, performance and financial data to identify challenges, drive improvement and provide assurance.
You will lead service transformation and workforce development, improving consistency, productivity and ways of working, while supporting the implementation of digital solutions including eCare.
You will manage delegated budgets, maintain effective governance and risk arrangements, and build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
This is an opportunity to shape a professional, sustainable and high-performing Clinical Administration Service that supports our people, patients and wider Trust ambitions.
About us
Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is at the heart of acute and specialist care for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We care for a population of around 500,000 people, a number that increases during visitor seasons. We employ around 7,000 staff, united by a shared commitment to deliver safe, high-quality care. We provide services across three main hospital sites, with around 780 inpatient beds:
Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro
St Michael's Hospital in Hayle
West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance
As a teaching hospital, we're proud to work in partnership with the University of Exeter Medical School, the University of Plymouth School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Peninsula Dental School, supporting the next generation of health professionals. We're committed to staying at the forefront of medical advance; investing in our people, developing our facilities, and expanding the specialist care we can offer locally so more patients can receive the care they need closer to home. We have a growing reputation for research and innovation that helps shape better care for the future. The Knowledge Spa, located on our Truro site, is a vibrant hub for medical, nursing and professional education across clinical and non-clinical roles. It plays a vital role in attracting, developing and retaining highly skilled teams.

Job summary
Emergency Medicine in East Kent Hospitals is at an exciting period of redevelopment, having attracted national investment to rebuild the Emergency Department at our William Harvey Hospital.
Our Emergency Departments provide innovative and fast paced integrated emergency care to a wide range of patients from East Kent. It is our inspiration to develop into an academic and research unit in emergency medicine for Kent. Each of our Emergency Departments offer a full 24-hour emergency service. The Emergency Departments are supported by co-located Urgent Treatment Centres, a 24-hour UTC at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital with a further 7 community UTCs in the region. In total approximately 220,000 patients are seen annually across the Emergency Departments.
Main duties of the job
To provide high quality consultant delivered care to patients including clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are provided to all patients attending the Emergency Department.
To be proactive in ensuring that all patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making, whilst ensuring that the Emergency Access Standards are adhered to, ensuring that we deliver safe, high quality care.
Patient safety, dignity and care are the highest priority and at the centre of all that we do. Whilst on duty in the department the ED consultant will provide highly visible and focused clinical leadership - working in conjunction with the nurse in charge of the shift and the SpR/specialty doctor lead to ensure that there is effective and timely communication between the clinical team maintaining optimal patient flow.
To provide teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level and supervise and train the junior and specialty doctors in emergency medicine and emergency nurse practitioners. To be proactive in the care group's clinical governance agenda and take on leadership roles to support continuous learning and improvement, thereby abiding by the clinical and corporate governance policies of the Trust.
To liaise with clinicians and managers within and outside the department to address issues arising that affect the services.
About us
We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 700,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.
