Job summary
Carlton Group Practice are looking to recruit two Reception Team Leaders to support the Head of Reception with the day to day supervision of the Reception Team and the associated functions of a very busy Reception. Cover will need to be provided between 0730am and 1830pm 5 days a week.
Main duties of the job
The Reception Team Leaders will support the Head of Reception and with the day to day supervision of the reception team, including induction of new staff and promoting a supportive approach to the provision of a quality service for Carlton Group Practice patients. They will act as a role model to the reception team, supporting, motivating and promoting staff relations whilst managing and dealing with day to day needs, difficulties and requirements of the partners and other clinical staff.
About us
We are a large, friendly Practice close to the centre of Burton caring for over 17000 patients from our two sites, Carlton Street Surgery and King Street Surgery.
Our clinical team consists of 6 GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, Paramedic, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants, Care Coordinators who are all supported by an experienced management, administrative and reception team.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Hold responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of the reception team and associated functions across Carlton Street Surgery and King Street Surgery
- To promote a harmonious and professional atmosphere in this public facing role
- Work closely with the Head of Reception and Team Leader to supervise and support the receptionists
- Act as a role model to the reception team, supporting, motivating and promoting staff relations
- Manage and deal with day to day needs, difficulties and requirements of the partners and other clinical staff
- Lead the team with the morning / afternoon huddles ensuring all staff know any changes for the day
- Have a full understanding of the appointment system for clinical and nursing staff
- Oversee the alteration/cancellation of clinics and make alternative arrangements in an emergency.
- Oversee e-learning and training of all reception staff
- Ensure adequate staffing levels, organise rotas ensuring all functions are covered
- Oversee holiday requests, whilst ensuring sufficient cover during holiday and sickness cover producing rotas in a timely manner for staff when additional cover may be required
- Provide induction training for new reception staff, show locums and new clinical staff around to ensure they know where to find things
- Manage day to day issues that may arise within the team or with individuals
- Continually assess and evaluate systems and quality, recommending changes and improvements to management as appropriate.

Job summary
Carlton Group Practice is the largest Practice in East Staffordshire currently serving circa 17,000 patients over two sites approximately 2.5 miles apart in the heart of Burton on Trent.
This role is based between our two surgeries, Carlton Street Surgery and King Street Surgery. However, we have received NHSE approval for a new purpose-built primary care centre based on the Outwoods site opposite Queen's Hospital, planned for completion in late 2027 / early 2028.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Salaried GP and / or a Salaried GP with an interest in future Partnership to join and enhance our established clinical team consisting of 6 Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, Paramedic, Pharmacy and Nursing Teams supported by a Business / Operational Management Team, Care Co-ordination and Administration Team who all share our core value to facilitate high quality personalised patient centred care to our local community.

The successful candidate will be highly driven, innovative, proactive and passionate about primary care. You will share our ethos to provide and maintain high quality clinical care in an ever changing environment and will help to shape and drive future development of the Practice.
