Job summary
We are very friendly working team, helpful and trustworthy. Joining this team you will be trained and supported throughout the role. You will be a member of a very experienced team and buddying up with 10 other receptionists. We are a very, very busy practice with two sites within Loughton (IG10). You will be supported by the team and the operations manager.
Main duties of the job
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are their initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
About us
The practice started in 1977 with approximately 300 patients and grew very quickly and now have approximately 12,000 patients. Our clincial teams are built up of 3 partners, 6 salaried GPs, 3 nurses, 1 HCA and as we are a training practice, we have 4 registrars that rotate. We also have a supportive admin team of 6 and 10 receptionists.

Job summary
We are looking for a welcoming, efficient and highly organised Duty Manager to join our practice team, working 30 hours per week.
This is a varied, hands-on role responsible for supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of our practices. You will provide visible leadership to the administrative and reception teams, maintain high standards of patient service and help ensure that operational processes are completed safely, effectively and on time.
We are looking for someone approachable and proactive who can confidently manage competing priorities, support colleagues and respond calmly to the changing demands of a busy primary care environment.
Main duties of the job
The Duty Manager will oversee the smooth day-to-day running of reception and administrative team. This includes coordinating staffing and workloads, monitoring key workflows, supporting planning and ensuring urgent tasks are prioritised and escalated appropriately.
The role also involves leading and developing the team, maintaining excellent patient service, responding to operational pressures and ensuring compliance with practice policies, CQC standards and health and safety requirements.

We are part of the wider Newham NW2 Primary Care Network, which serves a combined population of more than 40,000 patients. Our two practice sites are approximately one kilometer apart and are operationally integrated, with aligned policies and procedures.
