Job summary
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the UK's leading University Teaching Hospitals at the cutting edge of clinical practice and research.
The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Imperial was formed as a result of the merger between the departments at St Mary's and Hammersmith Hospitals in 2010. The recognised areas of expertise in those departments has been retained and we offer all aspects of cardiac and thoracic surgery except for cardiopulmonary transplantation. There is specific expertise in complex aortic surgery, minimally- invasive surgery and mitral valve repair.In thoracic surgery, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (via multi-, bi-, or uniport) is routine for anatomical and lesser lung resection as well as in surgery for pleural and mediastinal pathology.
Following recent expansion, there are 4 substantive Consultant Thoracic Surgeons and 6 substantive Consultant Cardiac Surgeons at Imperial. The department has a 2 Specialty Doctors (1 cardiac, 1 thoracic), 2 NTNs and 7 Trust SpRs. We have developed a unique nursing role (Advanced Cardiothoracic Nurse Practitioners) to support resident doctors on the wards. The elective thoracic work is supported by a team of 5 Lung Specialist Nurses and 2 x Pre-assessment nurses. A Hospital-at-Night scheme operates out-of-hours. The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is run and staffed by the Directorate of Anaesthesia and Critical Care.
Main duties of the job
oPre-operative assessment and preparation of patients to undergo thoracic surgery, in outpatients, for urgent referrals (including emergency trauma cover at St Mary's site) and the specific cardiothoracic pre-assessment clinics
o Capacity to be a competent operating surgeon with direct or indirect supervision and also assisting the consultants in the operating theatres as required and providing training/supervision to more junior staff and Surgical Care Practitioners, as appropriate
o Continuing responsibilities for post-operative critical care of the patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgery and subsequent Level 0/1 care on the wards
o Post-operative follow-up of patients in the outpatient, chest drain or would clinics, working with where indicated
o Partaking in the middle-grade on-call rota
o The accurate and timely recording of clinical data, both written & electronic, as outlined in the Principles of Good Medical Practice described by the GMC, participation in clinical audit and familiarity with Trust IT and information systems
o Communicating effectively with both junior and senior medical colleagues, nursing staff (including Clinical Nurse Specialists for Lung and Cardiothoracic ANPs for ward care), HCSs/AHPs and other hospital staff. Particularly good communication skills with patients, their relatives and carers.

We work in a very person-centered way and people with learning disabilities and their families are at the center entre of what we do. To achieve this, we carry out joint assessments, share our professional knowledge and work in partnership with key parts of the local health and care system.
You will provide direct clinical assessments, formulations interventions to individuals and will have active support from the principal Lead Clinical Psychologist.
In 2021, the service was nationally recognised and received a 'highly commended' accolade from the National Pharmacy Awards. In 2022 we reached the finals at the National Learning Disability and Autism Awards and later that year received the Trust's 'Outstanding Clinical Team of the year. More recently in 2025, we were recognised for 'Outstanding Patient Experience' from our Speech & language therapists and nationally, from the 'Beyond Words' charity for the 'Most Inspirational Outcome'. In May 2026, the service received the local 'Team of the Month' in recognition of the outstanding work we undertake.

Work as an integral member of the Learning Disability Team, holding responsibility for a designated caseload of adults with learning disabilities who present with complex mental health, behavioural, neurodevelopmental and emotional needs. Over the last year, our staff have attended in-house training in complex PTSD, LTC, OCD, perinatal, and many others. In addition to the standard talking therapies, our service is one of only two Talking Therapies services in London that offer a weight management group for our patients
Main duties of the job
Working within team of three to cover the duty desk for the service. This involves providing advice on risk management, safeguarding and appropriate onward referrals in line with NICE and Trust guidance.
Liaising with other services and following up on referrals
Screening referrals as they come in and engaging in clinical discussions and decision making on appropriateness of referrals.
Running and developing specialist safeguarding training with the service.
Reviewing incident reports and providing feedback and learnings to clinicians on these.
Working with clients to resolve concerns or questions they may have about the service to improve treatment outcomes.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will join the tier 3 Neuro-developmental & Learning Disability Team within the Service and carry out specialist assessments of children and young people with complex mental health presentations and will document the outcome of these assessments, providing formulation, diagnosis, and recommendations for interventions. Main duties of the job
The post holder will join the Tier 3 NDLD Team and carry out specialist assessments of children and young people with complex mental health presentations, documenting outcomes and providing formulation, diagnosis and recommendations for interventions. They will offer individual, family and group systemic therapy interventions, including risk management.
The successful applicant will work alongside other family therapists in a family therapy clinic and hold an individual caseload. You will receive regular clinical, professional and management supervision, with support to develop supervisory skills in readiness to supervise Band 7 Family & Systemic Therapists. We offer in-house and external training opportunities, e.g. Narrative Therapy, NVR and CYP-IAPT, and specialist placements through links with local family therapy training providers.

CORA works closely with other services to improve the experience of Autistic young people in crisis. The work is varied and includes direct work with young people, family and carers, liaison with Tier 4 and specialist services, consultation and training with community services, and service innovation and design.

West London CAMHS is looking for a Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (1.0 WTE) to join our innovative Crisis Outreach Resource for Autism Team (CORA) on a Band 7 to 8a Preceptorship. CORA works closely with other services to improve the experience of Autistic young people in crisis. The work is varied and includes direct work with young people, family and carers, liaison with Tier 4 and specialist services, consultation and training with community services, and service innovation / design.

Main duties of the job
This role combines clinical work, consultation and training, alongside opportunities for QI / service development. At this time, we are particularly looking for a candidate to lead on the community based offer in the CORA team. The postholder will also have opportunities to provide supervision and support to trainees and junior staff.
The role would be suited to someone who is passionate about delivering a high quality psychology service with young people and families, as well as an interest in supervision, and working with multidisciplinary and multi-agency colleagues on some of the challenges facing mental health services for children and young people.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our Clinical Health Psychology and Neuropsychology team. The department is based at Charing Cross teaching hospital and provides services to the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT).
This post has been created as part of the continued development of the ICHT stroke services, which builds on our existing input into the Hyperacute and Acute Stroke Units. You will join two existing stroke psychologists to further develop the psychology input into the stroke wards.
Main duties of the job
This post provides opportunities for service development, staff consultation and training, and research and audit, as well as for direct clinical assessment and intervention. While the majority of the role involves inpatient work, the post offers the opportunity to be involved in an innovative outpatient follow-up clinic, which affords opportunities to provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessment and/or psychological interventions.
There are strong links to psychologists working in other parts of the stroke pathway including on a specialist neurorehabilitation ward, in community neurorehabilitation teams, and in outpatient settings, which provides opportunities for collaboration and shared learning. There is an active departmental CPD programme to support learning.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Ealing Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities within the Learning Disabilities Nursing team. The CTPLD is looking for a Band 5 RNLD to join the team, to support the assessment and case management of people with a Learning Disability.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the nursing model to assess, plan implement and evaluate care, ensuring people's physical health needs are met; to support mainstream health services to meet the needs of people with learning disabilities and to support hospital admission and discharges.

Main duties of the job

As part of a team you will manage a small caseload of clients who require a yearly review of their section 117 aftercare plans. The aftercare of these clients is held by the ICB and the clients reside within the team catchment area.
You will work closely with the Consultant Psychiatrists providing mental health support and liaise with the wider Community Learning Disabilities team including nurses, psychologists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists.

Job summary
Background to the Post: This post is to provide resident cover and experience at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Initially posts will be offered for initially 6 months but can be extended by agreement to 12 months or longer depending on satisfactory performance and vacancies. We would like to offer rotations to other sites as vacancies allow. Exceptional candidates may be offered the specialist fellowship positions (neuro, teaching/sim, & echocardiography)-such applicants will be asked to indicate which post they are applying for. In this case an average 20-40% dedicated to teaching/simulation, echocardiogaphy activities and/or service development.
Candidates who successfully complete their first year will be considered for entry into the Portfolio Pathway in Intensive Care Medicine within Imperial College, as part of their career progression, subject to availability of posts

Main duties of the job
Duties and responsibilities When on duty for ICU the resident will review and manage patients on the ICU under the supervision of the consultants. They will form part of our multidisciplinary team caring for critically ill patients, performing procedures and investigations, liaising with referring teams, keeping relatives updated and acting as the first point of call for the ICU nursing staff.
All junior grades work in close cooperation with the consultants. The ICM resident are also expected to take an active role in supervision and training of medical students and junior doctors who are frequently attached to the ICU. Outline Timetable A minimum of twice daily multidisciplinary consultant ward rounds on each site, weekly MDTs. Daily afternoon meeting or ward round with a consultant or SpR in Infectious Diseases/Microbiology. Shifts vary in length from 9.5 to 13 hours. The work pattern amounts to an average of less than 48 hours per week (including weekends) for all grades.
The Echo/Simulation Fellow posts will offer a combination of clinical work and dedicated teaching, simulation, or echocardiography activities. The Echo Fellow will be supported to achieve BSE Level 1 accreditation. Each postholder will also be expected to complete a quality improvement project relevant to their fellowship.

All junior doctors get an induction day, organized by the hospital and the local tutor for intensive care medicine and electronic and printed induction and educational material. Network transfer training and BASIC courses available at no cost. The trust also provides a wide range of courses in management topics and Information technology (often free of charge or at low cost) in the postgraduate centres at Charing Cross, Hammersmith and St Marys hospital. Intensive Care staff also get access to ALS courses at the trust. On call: Full shift or partial shift pattern with 1 A banding. Frequency of night shifts not expected to be more than 1 night in 6.
