Job summary
We are looking for an energetic and motivated healthcare practitioner who genuinely has a desire to work in the speciality of Infection Prevention and Control. You must be passionate about patient care, enthusiastic about exploring new ways of working and a team player, to help us deliver our overall Healthcare Associated Infection improvement strategy at University Hospitals Tees.
We are a small team with a supportive administration team and work closely with Microbiology to deliver safe, patient centred care, providing a 7 day service to our acute hospitals and community hospitals as well as our community nursing service.
Main duties of the job
Your duties will include; undertaking audit, surveillance, supporting campaigns, along with guiding and supporting clinical staff on Infection Prevention and Control guidelines and policies and therefore promoting safe, quality, patient centred care. You will be committed to quality improvement.In return you will be joining a team who are committed to supporting you in your development, providing you with the knowledge and skills to undertake your role.
The successful applicant will receive a 4 week induction period and be supported in the use of core competencies to assess knowledge and skills as part of their continuous professional development in this field.

Hotel Services is committed to providing a high quality, helpful, courteous and personal service to the patients of the Trust and in support of Nursing Staff.
Your role as a House keeper is in pursuit of Hotel Services aims to provide a safe, nutritious and well balanced meal service to patients in a clean and supportive environment in which patients can recuperate, working with other members of ward based staff in a team spirit.
Patients and staff should receive a high level of customer services, timely, friendly and efficiently delivered by Hotel Services staff with a high standard of personal presentation.
Main duties of the job
Your duties will be carried out accordingly to specified tasks with frequency levels:
- Make a personal introduction to new patients following their clinical admittance.
- Ensure the ward provides an up to date list of the patients' dietary requirements for you to work from.
- Assist Nursing Staff with food service to patients.
- Monitor patient eating, report to nursing team if a patient requires
help or assistance with eating.
- Prepare and assist with service of beverages food and snacks. Clear beverages at designated times throughout the day including supplement drinks.
- Ensure provision of beverages for distressed relatives.
- Ensure food provisions and catering resources are managed economically.
- Resolve food and crockery shortages.
- Resolve shortages of milk.
- Clean patient's bedside tables prior to each meal service then place the place mat and cutlery in readiness for meal service.
- Be responsible for checking stock and removing out of date food from ward kitchen refrigerators.
- Be responsible for recording of ward kitchen refrigerator temperatures.
- Complete the ward catering sheet including food waste and temperatures.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and skilled people professional to join the People Directorate to help to shape and deliver the University Hospitals Tees (UHT) organisational redesign. University Hospitals Tees consists of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a hugely ambitious programme of work creating an opportunity to positively transform healthcare services throughout the Tees Valley, County Durham and North Yorkshire for the benefit of patients and the wider population.
The successful candidate will be part of the People Directorate, supporting the People Project Lead, working closely with the UHT clinical boards, senior clinicians and operational managers to deliver a people programme and ensure its successful delivery.

The Candidate
We are seeking self-motivated, experienced people professionals with experience in change management and related policy and process. You will support the Group People Change Management Lead in delivering this change, as well as providing support and advice to stakeholders across the UHT Group.

Job summary
We are seeking a motivated, flexible, skilled Physiotherapist with a special interest in Rehabilitation to join our Community Therapy team, based at the Friary Hospital, Richmond.
The service is currently integrating with social care to deliver an integrated therapy and reablement service, of which will be jointly managed and supervised between health and social care.
The therapy team provide clinical assessment, intervention and oversight of patients being discharged from hospital with reablement support, admission to bed based therapy provision and patients who are in their own home and require a period of rehabilitation following a change to their functional ability, impacting on safety, carer support, independence and emotional well being.
Therapy staff work closely alongside locality reablement teams, bed based provisions, hospital discharge teams, social care, voluntary agencies and other therapy teams to ensure the patients receive the best care and rehabilitation to improve independence and reduce reliance on care where possible.
There is an expectation that you will be able to travel independently in order to access our sites and would also provide clinical cover as required to the wider therapy teams to ensure safe staffing levels.

An opportunity has arisen for a Contracts Support Officer to join the Procurement and Contracts Team. Main duties of the job

Job summary
To aid clinicians in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases by the laboratory analysis of clinical specimens. To be professionally accountable for the technical correctness and accurate reporting of test results. The post holder must be State Registered, must hold an IBMS-approved degree , and will be expected to rotate through all sections of the laboratory.
Receiving and assign samples for relevant tests, highlighting any relevant clinical histories to enable accurate data entry by reception staff.
To reject specimens which do not conform to established protocols and prioritise specimen types as to their perceived urgency.
To process, unsupervised but in accordance with established SOP's, clinical specimens received into the laboratory. Specimens can include body fluids (blood, urine CSF, etc.), solid tissue, faeces, sputum, swabs from anybody site, and a variety of artificial devices (heart valves, contact lenses, coils, etc.).
Main duties of the job
Processing may involve any of the following:
- The initial microscopical examination for the presence of micro-organisms.
- The inoculation of growth media with the specimens and the interpretation of the resulting cultures.
- The identification of potentially pathogenic micro-organisms and the performance of sensitivity tests, via a variety of methods.
- The quantification of red or white cells (usually in CSF or urine), plus the enumeration of certain other cells or structures such as casts.
All work must be performed within the HCPC Standards of Proficiency for Biomedical Scientists.
The work can regularly involve the manipulation of specimens containing hazardous and /or infectious material (including high risk agents such as HIV, CJD and Tuberculosis). It may require extended periods of concentration and physical immobility, and can demand precise hand eye co-ordination. Many of the specimens submitted may be considered unpleasant.
To acquire an understanding on validity of results and need for further/repeat testing.
To enter results accurately into the computer system prior to them being authorised, by consultant staff. Certain results (such as blood culture and CSF microscopies) will be released to service users without being authorised by the department consultants, which entails added responsibility.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of the Fit Testing / IPC Support team undertaking a range of support activities with clinical staff across the Trust. This predominantly includes undertaking fit testing for FFP3 masks to ensure staff are wearing the most suitable mask to keep them safe. The post holder will also provide support, training and audit on IPC including sluice audits, environmental audits etc.

We are looking for a Senior Speech & Language Therapist / Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, depending on experience, to join our team to cover a maternity leave on a fixed term contract for up to 12 months. Those seeking to further specialise in the field of neurosciences and who enjoy a mix of both acute and community working would be ideal for this role. It would suit either someone already working at Band 6 level, who is ready to take the next steps in their career development or someone already working at Band 7, with advanced skills in managing neurological dysphagia and related communication disorders. The successful applicant should have experience of working with patients with neurological disorders and have post graduate dysphagia training.
The Speech & Language Therapy team is looking for a team player, who can demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and be flexible in their approach to patient care. The individual should be confident working in a busy multidisciplinary team and be able to travel independently for community visits.
The successful applicant will independently manage a caseload of adults with acquired communication and / or swallowing disorders, actively participating in multidisciplinary decision making around patient care and developing service delivery initiatives.
Knowledge of videofluoroscopy would be advantageous but is not essential.
Main duties of the job
You will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality service within the specialist area of neurosciences. The successful applicant will provide out-patient clinics at The James Cook University Hospital, run a group for patients with Parkinson's Disease, with support from an assistant, and provide inpatient assessment for those with Parkinson's Disease. They would also have sessions on an acute neurology and neurosurgery ward, and intensive care, depending on experience. There may be an opportunity to work within other specialist areas eg Stroke / acute wards, depending on service need and individual preference.
Regular support will be provided both from your line manager and through peer supervision. The existing team consists of 4 other therapists, each with different skill sets and responsibilities, and 1 assistant.
You will be encouraged to take an active role in service improvement (both within our own service and our wider healthcare teams), clinical governance and continuing professional development of self and others in leadership and mentorship.

Job summary
Child Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) are specialist practitioners in assessing and treating mild to moderate depression and anxiety in children and young people. CWPs are highly adaptable; working with children, young people and their families within traditional Child and Adolescent mental health services, local authorities, third sector charities and in schools.
Successful candidates will be offered a full-time educational programme specifically for the role in partnership with Northumbria University. This post will be funded at NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) Band 4 level, gaining credits towards a postgraduate level qualification, there may also be an opportunity for employment on successful completion of training, with a starting salary projected to be based on the NHS AfC Band 5 scale.
To enable this, all applicants must demonstrate in their application the ability to work at degree level or have an equivalent level of relevant experience, with a proven record of previous learning or formal study in child development, wellbeing or mental health.
The training programme for this post is due to start in January 2027, is 12 months in duration and will consist of academic and supervised practice learning across mental health services. Job Purpose
This is firstly a training role within CYP IAPT. The post-holder will work within the Tees Valley Getting Help Team as part of a wider team of practitioners, delivering, with supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence--based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. These may include psycho-education, self-help and work with presentation such as anxiety, low mood and anger. Job summary
This is firstly a training role within CYP IAPT. The post-holder will work in the Tees Valley Getting Help Team as part of a wider team of practitioners, delivering, with supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. These may include psycho-education, self-help and work with presentation such as anxiety, low mood and anger.
The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service. The post holder will attend all university based taught and self-directed study days required by Northumbria University (Higher Education Institute), as specified within the agreed national curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week (3 days) using their newly developed skills as part of the service delivery model.
Main duties of the job
Successful applicants will complete an academic programme developed and delivered by Northumbria University during their first year in post, alongside providing evidence-based interventions with children, young people and parents as part of the service.
To enable this, all applicants must demonstrate in their application the ability to work at degree level or have an equivalent level of relevant experience, with a proven record of previous learning or formal study in child development, wellbeing or mental health.
The training programme for this post is due to start in January 2027, is 12 months in duration and will consist of academic and supervised practice learning across mental health services. Delivery of the programme will be provided through a combination of taught days within the University, independent self-guided study days and experience gained in mental health services.
During training, the post-holder will work under supervision to gain experience enabling them to gain the level of competence required to deliver high quality, evidence-based early interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems.
On successful completion of training, the trainee will be equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and capabilities to work as a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist as autonomous and responsible practitioners within their scope of practice.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to work as part of the MSK Service assessing and treating patients referred to Physiotherapy in the Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland area. The service receives referrals from many sources including Consultants and GPs and operates from a number of different venues.

Job summary
To work in the engineering department of the Friarage hospital estates team.
To provide a multi-skilled electrical/mechanical maintenance service within the Friarage Hospital including activities which are often complex and/or non-routine to
ensure a safe environment for patients', staff and visitor's. This will include being part of the Estates on-call team out of hours for which additional payment applies. This post is more specific for mechanically trained persons and site specific electrical understanding/training will be undertaken.
Carrying out a large range of multi-skilled duties, the post holder forms part of a maintenance/installation team working across all engineering skills, liaising with management and staff at all levels throughout the Trust and other areas of responsibility.
The work does involve lone working which requires candidates to be able to identify various alarms and working in restricted places, it is therefore essential that candidates read the Job Description and are able to undertake all tasks required.
Users of the service should receive a high level of Customer Service in a polite efficient manner by staff with a high standard of personal presentation and hygiene
Main duties of the job
Mechanical engineering bias with an element of electrical engineering.
To undertake work appropriate to their core specialist skill to an above base level in an environment where work is managed rather than supervised.
To work across trades as necessary, actively taking on board new skills and participating in training to improve efficiency within the Estates Department.
To manufacture, assemble, erect and install new work
To carry out repairs, maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment in potentially hazardous environments and in unpleasant working conditions with either PPM or reactive maintenance.
To work outside normal working hours, when available
Ensures that the materials and equipment are used safely, securely and economically.
Following induction and departmental training maintains a working knowledge of Trust Policies, Procedures, Departmental Working Instruction and Codes of Practice ensuring they are implemented and complied with at all times
Actively participates and co-operates with other members of staff to improve and develop a high standard of service.
Occasionally the post holder will be required to access unpleasant working areas such as confined spaces, drainage systems and plant rooms and may be exposed to sewage, fumes, dust and dirt.

A vacancy exists for a Bereavement Support Officer (BSO) to work within the Mortuary and Bereavement team at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Previous experience in dealing with bereaved people or working in situations where there has been a high empathy factor is required.
The post is 37.5 hours per week. At present these hours are worked in office hours Monday to Friday , although this may be subject to change as the service develops.
Main duties of the job
This post is pivotal in ensuring a professional, compassionate, and high-quality service for relatives of the deceased is delivered in accordance with national legislation and Trust policy.
Bereavement Support Officers offer practical advice after death to relatives/friends of the deceased. They support bereaved relatives and guide them with the legal processes following a death, arrange hospital funerals as required and support friends/relatives during viewing of the deceased.
As a direct point of contact for relatives, healthcare professionals, Coroners' staff, Medical Examiner staff and registration services, the post holder will be expected to have the ability to engage tactfully but clearly in a supportive and caring manner.
Although based at North Tees, the role may require working across both hospital sites to meet service demand.
The role is varied and can be emotionally challenging at times however full support is offered.

We are looking to expand our team of well organised clinical team secretary/administrators, to provide an efficient support service to the Adult Learning Disabilities team based across two sites (Centre of Independent Living, Hartlepool and Wessex House, Stockton). An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Clinical Support Worker to join the Specialist Weight Management Service (SWMS) and increase their skills and experience in this specialty. The SWMS is a Tier 3 weight management multi-disciplinary (MDT) service, consisting of Consultant Physicians, GP with Specialist Interest in Weight Management (GPwSI), Psychology Professionals, Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Specialist Nurses, Non-Medical Prescribers, Senior Support Worker, Support Workers and Administrators. Since its beginning, approximately 18 years ago, the SWMS has grown quickly and now provides a Tier 3 service to the areas of County Durham, South Tyneside, Tees Valley, Redcar & Cleveland, and areas of North Yorkshire. The SWMS is at the cutting edge of weight management in the NHS. This is Tier 3 service, at its best.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for working alongside the SWMS Clinicians and supporting patients at specific community venues; they will also be required to provide cover at other venues, including occasional evening cover. The successful applicant will have previous experience of working in the NHS and possess good written and verbal communication skills and be able to demonstrate excellent team working skills. The successful applicant will have a working IT knowledge. They must also be willing to learn about potentially new lifestyle interventions for weight loss and associated co-morbidities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a band 5 Occupational Therapist (must hold HCPC registration) to join the Adult Community mental health teams in Hartlepool. The post will be actively supported by onsite management, an MDT, and a band 7 clinical specialist Occupational Therapist.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job
Book endoscopy diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Communication with multi-disciplined medical and surgical teams.
Adhere to all Trust and Endoscopy specific policies, procedures and guidelines. Ensure that all work outputs are completed to a high standard of quality as required and that all patient waiting times and pathway targets and timescales are met.
Identify when additional capacity is required to meet waiting list targets and liaise with the Endoscopy Coordinators and Endoscopy Admin Lead to ensure additional capacity is organised effectively and in a timely manner with best use of resources.
Reception duties that include arriving and discharging patients onto the Endoscopy Unit via the Trusts electronic patient record, TrakCare.
Ensure all appropriate technologies and equipment are utilised to optimum functionality.
Consistently demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Effectively liaise with staff from other services as well as external service users including GP's, patients and their representatives in a professional and courteous manner.
Support the updating and maintaining of standard operating procedures.
Organise interpreters following appropriate trust policies, systems and processes.
General office duties including opening and distributing post, housekeeping, filing, photocopying and maintaining stock of routine supplies.
