The Special Schools Nursing Network partners with special schools to ensure children with complex health needs can safely access education.

By working collaboratively as a network, we enhance the capacity of our nursing service, prioritising and delivering training and competencyassessments for school staff across designated schools.

Special Schools Nurses assess and triage to determine health tasks that can be delegated to school staff, who are then trained, supervised, andassessed for competency in delivering these tasks. This process includes ongoing supervision and observation throughout the year to ensureschool staff feel supported and remain proficient. Additionally, staff receive refresher training, and their competency is reassessed annually orsooner if required.

Our service supports individuals with complex and long-term health conditions, helping them remain safe, well, and independent in their own homes. As a Nurse Associate, you will work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing personalised, holistic care to patients within their chosen environment.

You will undertake home visits, manage a delegated caseload, participate in team handovers, and work collaboratively with colleagues, carers, and partner agencies to ensure seamless patient care. The Home Treatment Service (HTS) is part of the Urgent Care Service, providing hospital-level assessment and treatment in patients' usual place of residence. As a Band 7 Urgent Care Practitioner, you will deliver advanced clinical assessment and treatment through planned and urgent home visits, working across a 7-day service. Job summary

Special Schools Nurses assess and triage to determine health tasks that can be delegated to school staff, who are then trained, supervised, andassessed for competency in delivering these tasks. This process includes ongoing supervision and observation throughout the year to ensureschool staff feel supported and remain proficient. Main duties of the job

This post will be required to teach large groups of staff (approx. 200) as well as 1 to 1 and small groups.

You will be competency assessing staff as well as carrying out assessments on children around the training needs.

Key responsibilities include triaging, conducting health needs assessments, and maintaining accurate and timely documentation. Proficiency in ITis essential, as you will be required to record digital notes, update training records using Excel spreadsheets, and deliver presentations viaPowerPoint, either in person or online using MS Teams.

The role requires strong clinical skills to deliver training and competency assessments effectively. You must be capable of presenting PowerPoint presentations and demonstrating clinical skills to varied audiences, ranging from one-to-one sessions to small or large groups, including whole-school training sessions. You will also be responsible for addressing queries and signposting to other services or professionals where appropriate.
