We're looking for a highly motivated Consultant Haematologist to join our friendly and dynamic department at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, part of the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire Group.
You'll work alongside four experienced Consultant Haematologists to deliver comprehensive general and BSH Level 2b Haemato-oncology care, covering a broad spectrum of malignant and non-malignant haematology. Working alongside four Consultant Haematologists, you will provide consultant-led care across malignant and non-malignant haematology in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The appointee will join a team of 6 existing consultants who currently deliver a mixture of inpatient and outpatient diabetes and endocrine services for the Trust. Due to the changing dynamics of chronic disease management the structure of the consultant team is under continual review in order to facilitate an efficient interface between primary and secondary care and within the partnerships across UHN ie NGH aswell.

Job summary
These are 2 full-time posts, and the holder will be expected to work flexibly on the ST1-3 Junior Tier 1 rota. Less than full time applicants are welcome to apply.
Duties will cover all areas in the department including admissions unit, Level 2 neonatal unit, out-patients, paediatric emergency department and maternity unit for high-risk deliveries. The role also encompasses elements of clinical audit, clinical governance, teaching of medical students, nursing staff and junior doctors.
There is a rolling programme of teaching with regular lunchtime teaching. There is a weekly clinical meeting (Friday afternoon), and X-ray meeting (Monday morning). Teaching is also available for postgraduate examinations, e.g. MRCPCH, DCH. The postgraduate medical centre has a well-stocked library, a computer terminal for Medline searches and CD databases. The computer terminals are also available within the Department.
The successful applicants are expected to play a full part in the active department training programme for other doctors and assist in the education of clinical students from Oxford and other medical schools.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicants will begin work at ST1-3 Tier 1 level. The post holder must be registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practice. Participation in the Departmental teaching programme will be expected, and you will have a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of your post. Our department consistently receives excellent feedback from trainees regarding the friendly working environment, the approachability and supportiveness of senior staff, and the training opportunities available. The Consultant body has a breadth of experience including sub-specialty interests.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain middle-grade experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Northampton General Hospital. The post offers broad exposure across trauma and elective orthopaedics, including ward work, clinics, theatres, and on-call commitments. Main duties of the job
The post duties involve middle grade duties including elective clinics, elective theatres, fracture clinic, and trauma operating lists.
There is a 1:10 on-call with prospective cover.
Friday afternoons are protected training sessions and governance meetings. The post holder will work closely with the consultants and receive one to one informal tuition.
The overall supervision will be with a nominated consultant who will assess their capabilities and monitor their progress.
All candidates would be expected to show a dedication to Orthopaedics with a validated logbook.
The exact timetable will be subject to agreement between the hospital and post holder.
