Reference: 2371948
Job summary
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and forward-thinking Clinical Psychologist to join The Lewisham Mental Health of Learning Disabilities Team. We will also consider applications from newly qualified and recently qualified Clinical Psychologists eligible to occupy the post at band 7 in a preceptorship role.
We are a specialist community service for adults with learning disabilities, covering the London boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, delivering a service to adults who have additional mental health difficulties and/or behaviour that challenges.
We have a full time permanent post in the Lewisham MHLD, based in central Catford, co-located with the CTLD health team. Those seeking full-time or part-time work are encouraged to apply.
As a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in MHLD, you will be a member of a borough team that is managed by a team leader, working jointly with Psychiatry and CPN colleagues. The team works in close partnership with local CTLD health teams as well as social care colleagues, with psychological and behavioural interventions delivered as part of a multidisciplinary care plan. You will be part of a well-established group of 18 Psychologists and Behavioural Support Practitioners, working across the three boroughs, with each borough led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to work directly and indirectly with people with learning disabilities, families, carers and networks to provide a range of high quality, evidence-based, collaborative and person-centred psychological assessments and interventions. We are looking for someone that can bring a dynamic and creative approach to service delivery, aimed at improving the lives of people with learning disabilities who have additional mental health needs and/or behaviours that challenge.
About us
Across the three boroughs, we provide a range of psychological assessments and interventions for people with learning disabilities and their networks, with specialist expertise and interests across the service in systemic, narrative, neuropsychology, CAT and positive behavioural approaches. You will be expected to make use of regular CPD sessions within the Trust as well as special interest/supervision groups offered by psychologists within the service aimed at further developing therapeutic skills and knowledge.
We have close links with the Estia Centre and as we are part of a Clinical Academic Group within Kings Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre, research interests and joint initiatives aimed at improving the physical and mental health care for people with learning disabilities are encouraged. There are opportunities to help develop and deliver training and consultation to provider services and our mainstream mental health colleagues as part of your work.

Nurse (Paediatric Intensive Care / PICU)
Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust View all jobs
Posted 4 day(s) ago
Reference: 2371896
Job summary
We are looking for a newly qualified or current Band 5 children's nurse to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
As the Lead Centre for Paediatric Intensive Care services for the West Midlands, we care for critically ill children from a wide range of specialties including cardiac, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), liver, medical, oncology, renal, surgery, neuro and trauma. This provides a unique opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills within a specialist paediatric critical care environment.
We are a 31 bedded unit with a friendly, dedicated and experienced team delivering paediatric and cardiac intensive care (PIC/CIC). Although we are a large department, we work within three smaller sub teams. This approach helps build strong team relationships, encourages collaboration and ensures staff feel supported in their day-to-day practice.
Working alongside experienced nurses and a wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT), you will deliver high quality Level 3 intensive nursing care to critically ill children. The majority of our patients are cared for on a 1:1 nurse to patient ratio, enabling you to provide focused, individualised care whilst working closely with children and their families during some of the most important moments of their lives.
Main duties of the job
What you'll bring:
A newly qualified or current Band 5 children's nurse.
A commitment to delivering high quality, compassionate nursing care for children and their families.
Excellent communication and active listening skills, along with the ability to build supportive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
A passion for family integrated care, working in partnership with parents and carers throughout the child's journey.
Empathy, adaptability and resilience when supporting families through challenging situations.
Critical care placement experience is not essential. We offer a comprehensive 12-month educational foundation programme which runs alongside the Trust's Newly Qualified Nurse (NQN) preceptorship programme. This structured support will help you build confidence, develop your clinical skills and transition into paediatric critical care nursing.
What we'll offer you:
We recognise that working in paediatric intensive care can be both rewarding and emotionally demanding. Your wellbeing is important to us and we are committed to supporting our staff. Within PICU we had a dedicated department Psychologist and wellbeing resources to ensure you feel supported in your role.
PICU is a 24 hour intensive care service and our nursing teams work a range of shifts including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. We can support contracts of 30 hours per week, which is a requirement during the foundation programme year for newly qualified nurses.

About us
The Integrated Care Board (ICB) has the responsibility to decide whathealth services are needed in Surrey and Sussex and set out how they'll be provided, making sure hospitals, primary care, and other services work together, rather than in silos, for the benefit of everyone in the community. NHS Surrey Heartlands and Sussex ICB achieve this byworking in partnership with local health and care organisations, staff, patients, carers, familiesand the public, to support three million people across Surrey and Sussex to live healthier lives.
Together, we have an ambitious vision for improving health and care services across Surrey and Sussex. We are working to:
- Improve health and care outcomes for everyone, with a focus on preventing ill health and proactive care.
- Tackle inequalities to reduce unfair gaps in access, experience, and outcomes.
- Get better value from our services by enhancing productivity and value for money.
- Support local communities to grow and thrive through social and economic development.
We also work with NHS trusts and organisations which deliver healthcare services through developing Provider Collaboratives to improve healthcare pathways, so local people experience better care and outcomes.
To achieve this, we need a team of people who can think beyond organisational boundaries, strong collaborators who can navigate complexity, challenge constructively, and keep communities at the centre of decisions.
