UHB Paediatrics 0-16 Years: Where a passion and career come together! If you fancy a new challenge or are looking to progress your career, then this temporary opportunity might be what you've been searching for!
UHB are seeking an enthusiastic Paediatric nurse to join their busy Inpatient Unit at Heartlands Hospital.
We are keen to recruit an experienced nurse who is looking to develop their professional leadership and clinical skills within general paediatrics. We strive to provide a positive patient experience in a safe environment, and we actively promote a family centred approach in the delivery of care.
We operate a 24-hour, 7 day a week shift pattern but are willing to discuss flexible working if this is important for your work life balance and still meets the requirements of the service and role. This post is for 29 hours per week to cover maternity leave and ends 31.10.2027. It is a great development opportunity.
We value our workforce and invest time and energy into providing development opportunities that will enable you to achieve your potential. The trust vision -- building healthier lives -- underpins our services for children and young people and our approach to developing our services in the future.
Main duties of the job
As a band 6 nurse at UHB you will form part of an established nursing team, you will act as a senior, positive role model for your colleagues, demonstrate clinical competence and effective leadership skills. You will be responsible for coordinating shifts, allocating duties to junior staff members and ensuring patient safety is prioritised by communicating effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team. The nurse is required to deputise for the senior sister, ensuring that clinical standards are maintained and that trust policies and procedures are adhered to. You will need to be confident or willing to learn how to solve problems, make decisions and escalate concerns appropriately.
You will deliver individualised, holistic care to a diverse population, acknowledging the needs of the patient and family. You must be skilled in communication so that you are able to fulfil this requirement effectively. As a band 6 you will be required to utilise your organisational skills to assess patient requirements, prioritise workload, allocate skill mix and support all members of the nursing team. Working with the medical team you will ensure patients receive the care they need in an appropriate time scale. Children may have urgent critical care needs that require prompt action, you should be confident to respond to these situations and support the team.
If you have the skills for this role and are looking for an exciting new opportunity, then please get in touch!

Job summary
East Norfolk Medical Practice (ENMP) wants a quality salaried GP to join our family asap, initially until the end of March 2027, with flexible working considered. This is a great opportunity to work in a very large, diverse, robust practice that still maintains a strong family feel. You will have great support from twenty two GP colleagues and an excellent wider team. We care for 32,000 patients from four sites with a varied population including highly deprived urban to rural coastal communities.
We prioritise work-life balance, professional development and sustainable workloads. Each session includes three hours of direct patient contact and one hour of protected administration time. You will also have access to Heidi, our AI enhanced clinical support tool. All new GPs benefit from a mentor, a week of study leave, and take part in ongoing clinical education.
To help you decide if ENMP is right for you, we asked our latest GP partner why they chose to stay after training. They said, 'ENMP offers a great deal to any potential recruit with a forward thinking culture, personalised patient lists, strong patient satisfaction, a successful business model, excellent staff morale and support, and partners who are always available for backup.'
Main duties of the job
At ENMP we are proud to continue to operate a personal list system with continuity of care the primary focus. However, we also meet the 'same day' patient demand through our RCGP award winning Urgent Care Team (UCT), which includes two duty GPs, five paramedics an advanced nurse with support from our PCN Home Visiting Team. This role is to primarily work as part of the UCT although there may be the opportunity to provide routine appointment sessions as well.
The successful applicant will be supported by a comprehensive multi disciplinary team including paramedics, advanced nurses, physician associates, care coordinators and experienced administrative staff and will have their own dedicated GP assistant.
About us
East Norfolk Medical Practice cares for our 32,000 patients across four sites in Great Yarmouth and Caister on Sea, Norfolk. Much of our Practice population reside in a neighbourhood among the most deprived 10% in England. This brings a variety of work unlike most other practice populations and our team, including our GPs, often feel they can make a significant difference to people's lives.
ENMP is a stimulating place to work and develop your career. We are committed to education, teaching five years of UEA students as well as Cambridge University students and training GP registrars. We run an enhanced homeless care service including outreach and offer all the other services and opportunities e.g. minor surgery, contraception services etc, that you would expect in a leading general practice.
ENMP is all about the patients and our team. We exist to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients and staff. We believe our people are what makes us unique and build our Practice on trust, high standards, continuous improvement, long term over short term benefit and being 'a great place to work.' This is reflected in our very low staff turnover i.e. 4% v 35.7% national average and high staff survey scores including 85% for respect and 96% for positive culture. It helps that we give you your birthday off work!
Don't miss this opportunity to join our friendly, caring and innovative team. Contact Jonathan Knights on 07809 573450 to arrange a visit or apply now!
