Main Duties of the Patient Facilitator - Andrew Ward ? Core Purpose
The Patient Facilitator supports the wellbeing, comfort, and experience of patients on Andrew Ward through meaningful interaction, therapeutic engagement, and compassionate communication.
Key Responsibilities-
Distraction Interaction -- Provide patients with engaging activities such as conversation, art, games, sensory stimulation, and time in communal spaces to reduce boredom, anxiety, and isolation.

Mealtime Support -- Assist patients during meal times by offering encouragement, ensuring they have appropriate support, and helping them access drinks throughout the day to maintain hydration and comfort.

Patient Voice & Advocacy -- Ensure patients feel heard and valued during their hospital stay by listening to their concerns, preferences, and wishes, and communicating these to the wider multidisciplinary team.

'This Is Me' Documentation -- Support patients in completing their personal "This Is Me" documentation to help staff understand their background, preferences, routines, and individual needs.

Job summary
There is an exciting opportunity to become a part of the Cancer Business Unit at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.
We are looking for someone to join our Haematology secretary team.
You will be a part of an Administration Team that provides support to the Haematology team, including consultants and registrars.
In this role you will be providing a range of clerical and administrative support services to the medical secretary and waiting list team and in delivering an efficient and effective service for the clinicians in respect of their NHS work within the business unit as well as being an important point of contact for our patients.
Main duties of the job
The main duties for the role includes:
- Dealing with telephone queries
- Typing clinical correspondence
- Managing referrals
- Inputting patient information onto our different systems and supporting the Haematology Team with general administrative duties.
- Liaising daily with colleagues including the immediate secretary team, senior and junior medical teams, management and other hospital departments.

The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton operate dialysis services across three sites delivering both acute and chronic haemodialysis. As we continue to expand our dialysis provision, we are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for new team members to join us at our Derby Dialysis Unit.
Previous experience in renal dialysis is not required, as comprehensive support is provided for all staff. Our Practice Development Facilitator ensures that every new starter receives guidance and mentoring throughout their induction. In addition, a carefully designed competency package is available to help new team members develop the skills for the role. Training will take place on the Derby site.
To succeed in this position, you must demonstrate adaptability in the working environment and be willing to further your clinical skills. The Renal Dialysis Units are operational from Monday to Saturday, offering dialysis sessions to patients in the morning, afternoon and evening. Flexibility is essential, as you will be expected to cover shifts across these hours, working four days per week. Opportunities for cross-site working are also supported, providing further avenues for professional development.

Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist pharmacist services, including attending ward rounds, in the following areas: trauma and orthopaedics, colorectal and nutrition, upper GI, surgical admissions, vascular, urology, ENT, ICU and stepdown.

Main duties of the job
- Assist the doctor and trained staff in the smooth running of the clinic.

We are delighted to offer a suitably qualified Speciality Doctor the opportunity to work in a substantive position in an exciting, modern and forward looking organisation.
The post is full-time, 10 PA's per week with associated on-call commitments on a 1 in 5 basis.
The post holder is expected to contribute to the Ophthalmology out-patient and surgical activities.
Four years' experience at post graduate level including at least 2 years in ophthalmology is necessary with the ability to practice independently. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
Ongoing employment will depend on completing the portfolio pathway competencies promptly. This post is fixed term for 12 months. Previous experience in the UK is essential for this role
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop his/her own area of interest within ophthalmology for which support via the Ophthalmic Local Trainee Scheme can be provided.
The Eye Department, which is staffed by 12 Consultants and 9 Middle Grade Staff, is delivered across the entire Trust Footprint and candidates will be expected to travel between sites.
The Trust is committed to the delivery of high quality patient care and the Clinicians are actively involved in the management of the hospital and it's facilitates which creates a sound and friendly working environment.

Main duties of the job

Speciality Doctor posts involve providing Anaesthetic Services.
Anaesthetic services are provided for routine and emergency surgical, orthopaedic, urological, gynaecological, ENT and Ophthalmology lists, as well as to the Accident and Emergency Department, CriticalCare Unit, Delivery Suite and Maternity unit, as well as the Acute and Chronic Pain Service.
- The successful candidates will need at least 2 years experience of anaesthesia and have passed basic competencies including for Obstetrics.
- Involvement may also be required in the initial resuscitation and stabilisation of the critically ill child.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Participate as a member of the team of dedicated medical and nursing staff, to provide anaesthetic services as needed, across the trust
- Participate in the supervision and education of doctors in training, allocated to the department
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and research activity within the department
- Support the department in making the most efficient use of the resources available, thus be prepared to work flexibly and deputise, if appropriate, for absent colleagues and undertake additional duties in occasional emergencies or unforeseen circumstances
- Be available, exceptionally, for irregular commitments outside the normally rostered duties, which are essential for the safety and continuity of patient care.
- Be familiar with and comply with the principles expected by the GMC, as outlined in "Good Medical Practice". Thus, agree to maintain their professional responsibilities, including full and active participation in the trust appraisal process.
The post holder will be based at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals.
The post has a resident on call duties, primarily within the maternity and critical care units, although may occasionally involve resident on-call duties for the emergency list (1st on-call).
The post includes being part of a shift rota to cover out of hours services on the ICU, and maternity units, and attracts 10 + 3.5 PA's of which 1.5 are for SPA.

This post is for a whole-time Resident Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
This post is designed to improve the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Service in St Helens & Knowsley, and to share the general workload with the other Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
The successful candidate will join a team of 19 Consultants within the directorate who currently provide services for General Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Feto-maternal Medicine, Urogynaecology, Menstrual disorders, Menopause, Subfertility, Outpatient hysteroscopy, and Gynaecological Oncology.
Applicants are required to hold Membership of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK or equivalent qualifications), to be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and to be on the Specialist Register or due to obtain their CCT within six months of the date of interview. CESR candidates must have written GMC confirmation of successful application.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a team of 19 Consultants within the directorate who currently provide services for General Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Feto-maternal Medicine, Urogynaecology, Menstrual disorders, Menopause, Subfertility, Outpatient hysteroscopy, and Gynaecological Oncology.
This is a Resident on call post to help towards maintaining full activity within gynaecology and obstetrics. The new consultant will join the existing Consultants and middle grade staff in delivering a high-quality 24-hour service.

Main duties of the job

Job summary
2x Part Time 30 hours per week
Applications are invited from enthusiastic, hardworking, self-motivated and committed individuals for the above position. Candidates must have a pleasant and courteous disposition and a flexible attitude towards the demands of this post.
The Central Endoscope Decontamination Unit is responsible for the decontamination of all flexible endoscopes used within the Trust. There are Decontamination Units on both St Helens and Whiston sites and the successful candidate will be expected to work at either site. The decontamination process includes manual cleaning, use of Automatic Endoscope Re-processors, storage, tracking and tracing of scopes, and delivery to point of use.
The ideal candidate should be able to work as part of a team, use own initiative and be able to meet deadlines and work with all disciplines of staff.
Previous decontamination experience would be an advantage but the successful candidates will be given full training to support their role.
Working hours will be dictated by the needs of the service therefore applicants should have some flexibility in when they are available to work.
The successful candidates will take part in the on call service for out of hour's endoscope decontamination (week nights and weekends).
The JD & PS are currently under AfC review and are subject to change.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake the complete cycle of endoscope decontamination
- This includes the visual inspection, manual cleaning, processing in an automatic endoscope reprocessor, storing, tracking, and tracing and collection and delivery of all flexible scopes used in the Trust.
- To work within the designated area, ensuring that agreed standards are achieved.
- To implement the correct method of decontamination of the endoscopes in accordance with the manufacturers instructions and protocols as issued by the department.
- To use Endoscope Washer Disinfector (EWD) safely and correctly, Drying Cabinets and all other associated equipment as per manufacturers' instructions.
- To work within COSHH Regulations in respect of substances used, comply with departmental procedures for use of PPE and be competent in dealing with spillages of chemicals
- To assist with all relevant tests required on endoscopes, washer disinfectors and associated equipment as per departmental protocol.
- To understand how to escalate any problems or emergency relating to decontamination equipment to the supervisor or manager
- To ensure all necessary documentation concerning the decontamination of each endoscope (tracking and tracing) is completed effectively and efficiently and in accordance with the departmental procedure (electronic and paper systems)
