Senior Healthcare Assistant - North West Identification & Support
Marie Curie View all jobs
Posted 3 hour(s) ago
Reference: 2452457
Job summary
Help people get the right support, sooner.
For people living with a terminal illness, receiving the right care at the right time can make an enormous difference to their experience.
We are looking for a compassionate and self-motivated Senior Healthcare Assistant to join a new Marie Curie service working across South Liverpool.
Working within GP practices, community hubs and other locations across the PCN, you will be part of a new team focused on helping people access palliative and end-of-life care earlier, connecting them with the services and care that are right for them.
Main duties of the job
This is not a traditional Healthcare Assistant role. There will be a strong focus on outreach, building relationships, supporting referrals and helping people and families navigate the care available to them.
You will work closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists, primary care colleagues and other health and community services across South Liverpool. You will follow up on identified needs, signpost people to appropriate services and help create a more joined-up experience for people and those important to them.
You will also have opportunities to provide direct care, contribute to holistic assessment and care planning, and recognise and respond to changes in peoples needs. Within the scope of your role, you will contribute to symptom management, advance care planning and compassionate conversations around dying, death and bereavement.
About us
Marie Curie is the UKs leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, theyre likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, almost one in three people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.
We want a different society than the one we live in now. Our mission for the next five years is to close the gap in the number of people missing out on what they need at the end-of-life, through 3 ways:
- Growing and transforming our direct care and support
- Delivering more practical information and support
- Leading in shaping the end-of-life experience

Clinical Nurse Specialist - North West Identification & Support
Marie Curie View all jobs
Posted 7 hour(s) ago
Reference: 2452014
Job summary
Help people get the right palliative care and support, sooner.
For people living with a terminal illness, receiving the right support early can make an enormous difference, giving them and those important to them more opportunity to understand their options, make informed choices and plan for what matters most.
We are looking for two compassionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists to join a new Marie Curie service working across South Liverpool.
Working within GP practices, community hubs and other locations across the PCN, you will be part of a new team focused on proactively supporting people with palliative and end-of-life care needs and helping them access coordinated, person-centred care earlier.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your palliative-care expertise beyond a traditional clinical setting. You will manage a caseload of people with palliative-care needs while building strong relationships across primary and community care, helping create a more joined-up experience for people and those important to them.
Main duties of the job
A significant part of your role within this new service will involve outreach, supporting appropriate referrals, coordinating care and building connections across services.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will holistically assess people with complex needs and plan, implement and evaluate specialist treatments and interventions that support symptom management. You will provide specialist palliative-care advice and use your clinical expertise and professional judgement to respond to changing and sometimes complex needs.
You will support advance care planning and sensitive conversations about future wishes and preferences, helping people and those important to them make informed decisions about their care. Working closely with GP practices and professionals across the multidisciplinary team, you will help coordinate care across organisational boundaries and advocate for care that reflects each persons needs, choices and preferences.
About us
Marie Curie is the UKs leading end-of-life charity.
