Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia Trust Registrar
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust View all jobs
Posted 20 day(s) ago
Reference: 2419218
Job summary
The Trust Fellow post in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care is based at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
The post is agreed for six months initially with potential for extension, subject to review. This post is ideally suited to those who have completed the modular components of a Core Training programme in anaesthesia and the primary FRCA and who are seeking further clinical experience and portfolio-boosting opportunities in readiness for application to specialty training.
Main duties of the job
Daytime work will be apportioned between the cardiothoracic intensive care unit, cardiothoracic theatres, GA cases in the cardiac cath labs and Anaesthetic Pre-assessment Clinics. Consultant supervision will be provided at all times due to the high risk nature of the speciality. Out of hours, the primary responsibility is to the cardiac intensive care unit; however the opportunity for supervised emergency cath lab and theatre work is available. There is a hybrid rota of anaesthetic registrars and ACCP's covering the cardiothoracic critical care unit on a 1 in 9 rota which is EWTD compliant and receives appropriate banding. A typical on-call shift will consist of two residents from: Trust grade doctors, advanced critical care practitioners (ACCPs), rotating anaesthetic specialty registrars and senior advanced trainees in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia. Cardiothoracic surgical registrar support is also available 24/7 alongside support from the general anaesthetic and critical care teams.
About us
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust have come together to form University Hospitals Tees. As a result, post holders may be required to work across sites within both organisations.
Across University Hospitals Tees, our ambition is to be the best place to work, ensuring we have the right staff in the right roles at the right time to deliver outstanding patient care and experience.
We are committed to supporting our staff through an inclusive and supportive working environment, offering health and wellbeing initiatives, staff benefits, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
We support the 'Making Every Contact Count' approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
Clinical experience will be afforded by time spent in both cardiothoracic theatres and intensive care unit. There are a significant number of transferrable skills for all areas of anaesthetic and critical care practice that can be developed through experience with cardiothoracic surgical and critically ill cardiology patients. These key skills will be invaluable in the safe management of sick and unstable patients as one progresses through training positions of increasing seniority. We also encourage and support the development of skills and accreditation in critical care ultrasound as many of the Consultant body are both TOE and FUSIC mentors/supervisors.

Ambulance Support Worker - (Apprenticeship)
Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust View all jobs
Posted 20 day(s) ago
Reference: 2419203
Job summary
This vacancy is for a number of positions throughout Yorkshire, covering North, South, East and West Yorkshire.
An Ambulance Support Worker (ASW) responds to emergency calls alongside a paramedic, helping them to provide patients with potentially life-saving care and, where needed, getting patients to hospital. They attend every kind of accident and emergency, sometimes covering considerable distances, using expert emergency driving skills to get to the scene with the greatest speed possible.
The role of ASW can provide an excellent opportunity to further develop a career in healthcare and within Yorkshire Ambulance Service. You will be required to undertake a Level 3 Ambulance Support Worker Apprenticeship. This is a nationally recognised qualification that demonstrates your operational competency in the care field. Following successful completion, it will enable you to benefit from career progression within the Trust, including development opportunities to become a HCPC-registered paramedic.
Please note: This vacancy is open to applicants seeking a base station throughout North, South, East and West Yorkshire. Applicants should apply for their preferred base location within Yorkshire.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for people who are confident, caring, compassionate and hardworking, with a genuine passion for making a positive difference to the lives of people across Yorkshire. The role requires flexibility, and you will be expected to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
This is a stimulating, rewarding and challenging role, and it is important to recognise that it is not a career path for everyone. No two shifts will ever be the same. You could find yourself responding to a road traffic collision involving patients with multiple serious injuries, or supporting the transfer of a critically ill baby to a specialist treatment centre.
As an Ambulance Support Worker, you will be a highly visible representative and role model for Yorkshire Ambulance Service. The way you communicate and conduct yourself is just as important as the care you provide. You will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, compassion and respect when working with patients, members of the public and colleagues.
As part of the role, you will be required to demonstrate and maintain a consistently high standard of emergency driving in accordance with UK national standards. You will also be required to successfully complete the Level 3 Emergency Ambulance Response Driving qualification, developing the specialist driving skills needed to safely respond to emergency incidents and transport patients.
About us
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust geographically covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities.
We serve a population of over five million people across Yorkshire and the Humber and strive to ensure that patients receive the right response to their care needs as quickly as possible, wherever they live.
We employ more than 7,100 staff, who together with over 1,300 volunteers, enable us to provide a vital 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, emergency and healthcare service.
Our values: Kindness, Respect, Teamwork and Improvement are at the heart of all we do.
What we can offer you:
- Great staff networks
- 27 days annual leave, increasing to 33 with service plus bank holiday entitlement
- Contributory Pension
- NHS Discounts
- Car lease and other salary deduction schemes
- Dedicated employee assistance and counselling service

Job summary
This is an exciting and motivating new role to work as a salaried GP with a practice run by Haringey GP Federation.
We are open to considering both full-time and part-time working arrangements and encourage applications from candidates seeking flexibility.
The role will involve between 6 10 sessions per week. You will provide general medical services for our patients delivering a safe, caring, and high standard of medical care. You will be required to take part in the day-to-day activities of the practice, including surgery, administration, and occasionally home visits where appropriate. You will be involved in practice development, identifying service changes and developments in line with clinical needs locally and work with the team to achieve clinical targets.
You will be supported in training and development as may be required to maintain and improve your personal competency. The Federation has an ethos of training and development, and you will be invited to Federation education events. We are looking for a person who will help the Clinical Leadership Teams develop and transform the practice, ensuring that we are patient-centred and innovative. We hope shortly to become a Learning Environment for GP registrars/FY2s, and you will be supporting the trainers with this cohort.
We would also like to incorporate this role with a role in one of the Federations services, which are involved in reducing health inequalities in Haringey.
Main duties of the job
To provide high-quality medical services to the patients registered with a Federation Practice, in line with the agreed requirements of the practice NHS contract including the quality and outcomes framework and any local and enhanced services.
To prescribe generically for patients as appropriate to need and be able to provide appropriate clinical rationale with support from the Medicines Management Team.
To respond to medical/health problems presented by patients on the registered list including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referral as appropriate, ensuring management is in line with national guidelines and pathways.
To provide appropriate health promotion and preventative health care advice to all patients attending the practice, ensuring such advice enables self-management and choice where possible.
To read and interpret test requests and results ordered by you and other team members taking appropriate action based on the findings.
To carry out appropriate administrative and other duties in line with the needs of the practice including referral to other services, maintenance of records, managing registers etc.
To produce and comply with a work plan developed in partnership with the Practice Leadership team to ensure all work is delivered appropriately and safely.
Participate in activities required to ensure compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards.
