PELC is seeking an enthusiastic Advanced Clinical Practitioner or Advanced Nurse Practitioner with independent prescribing to work with us across our sites. You will deliver face-to-face services, enabling patients to obtain health information from the appropriate health care professional. You will be providing safe and effective health assessments and treatment of patients within the establishment
You will be accountable for your practice including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge or referral of patients, independent of medical intervention to provide high-quality support for professional practice within the organization.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an experienced caring nurse/practitioner who can demonstrate highly developed clinical skills and be able to demonstrate critical thinking whilst working within their professional boundaries. You will work within a clinical team consisting of GPs, UCPs, Nurse Streamers and HCA to deliver excellent care services within our UTC. You will be able to demonstrate safe, competent clinical decision-making and deliver expert care, including assessment, diagnostic skills, treatment and evaluation. You will communicate at all levels across boundaries and work closely with wider clinical team members. The post holder will also work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.
You will be an integral member of the clinical team, completing streaming, independently assessing patients and prescribing clinical intervention. You will also be completing administrative tasks (prescriptions, referrals, pathology results).
As an ANP/ACP, you will be supported by, and work with, a diverse multi-skilled professional team of clinical and non-clinical friendly staff, providing high quality, person-centred, holistic clinical care to patients. You will be accountable for your practice including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge or referral of patients, independent of medical intervention to provide high-quality support for professional practice within the organization

Job summary
The Governance Officer will take responsibility for the management of the complaints and feedback process, incident and risk, and coordination of legal and inquest-related activities. This role is critical to maintaining effective compliant governance operations. The post holder will support the development of a culture committed to transparency, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
This is a hybrid role requiring a combination of office-based and remote working. The successful candidate will be expected to work from the office 2-3 days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely, subject to operational requirements.
Main duties of the job
The Governance Officer will support the delivery of effective governance arrangements across PELC by managing complaints, incidents, risks, and patient feedback processes. The post holder will coordinate investigations, support legal and inquest activities, prepare governance reports and committee papers, and ensure actions arising from governance activities are tracked to completion. They will also support PSIRF processes, maintain governance records and inboxes, and contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, and organisational learning.

PELC is a not-for-profit social enterprise that was formed in 2004 by a group of local GPs who wished to share resources to provide quality Out-of-Hours GP services for their local communities. Today, PELCs services extend across North East London, covering a population of over 2 million people in the region and employing more then 200 people. Governance and Risk Management
- Identify and escalate risks arising from complaints and feedback for inclusion in the organisational risk register, ensuring alignment with internal protocols and managerial oversight.
- Coordinate reports to the Integrated Governance Committee (IGC), write minutes for the meeting, share meeting papers in a timely manner and follow up on actions from the meeting.

- Respond to Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) requests in coordination with the line manager and relevant operational leads.

Incident and Investigation Management
- Prepare Incident review meeting papers, share meeting papers in a timely manner and follow up on actions from the meeting.
- Support immediate incident reviews and coordination of investigations in accordance with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and duty of candour obligations.
- Collate and submit timely documentation for both internal and external investigations.
- Coordinate and support all meetings related to PSIRF methodologies
- Track and follow up on open improvement actions resulting from incidents, complaints, and claims, ensuring accountability and resolution.
Legal and Inquest Coordination
- Liaise with the Legal Services Team to facilitate staff involvement in inquests and legal proceedings.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation and statements are prepared to support litigation and inquest processes.
- Contribute to thorough investigations to support legal submissions in collaboration with corporate and clinical teams.
Reporting and Assurance

Summary
The post holder will work autonomously as an experienced Minor Injuries Clinical Practitioner, delivering highquality assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge for patients of all ages presenting with minor injuries. The practitioner will function as an independent clinician within agreed protocols, demonstrating advanced decisionmaking and clinical expertise.
The role supports safe, effective, patientcentred care within the UTC and contributes to service improvement, clinical governance and the development of junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
Practise autonomously as an independent clinical practitioner within the Urgent Treatment Centre, managing patients presenting with undifferentiated minor injuries and minor illness.
Undertake comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referral, and discharge without direct medical supervision, in line with agreed protocols and competencies.
Request, perform, and interpret diagnostic investigations, including radiological imaging (X-ray), in accordance with IRMER and local protocols.
Perform clinical procedures including (but not limited to):
o suturing and wound closure
o plastering and splint application
o minor joint or fracture management
o venepuncture and cannulation
Prescribe medicines independently (where qualified) or administer medicines under Patient Group Directions (PGDs).
Provide Immediate Life Support (ILS) to adults and children, including defibrillation where required.
Work within UTC streaming and escalation pathways, including referral to Emergency Department, GP services, community services, and specialist teams as appropriate.
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records in line with professional, organisational, and information governance standards.
