Job summary

Main duties of the job
About the Role:
To work as part of a team in a busy office environment. Main aspects of the job involve:
- Dealing with patients in person and on the telephone
- Receiving patients and visitors and dealing with their presenting requirements
- Booking appointments for Doctors and other health professionals
- Accepting requests for letters, reports or prescriptions and ensuring the processing of same
- Accepting and processing new patient registrations and deductions
- Taking and communicating accurate messages from health professionals and other agencies

Job responsibilities
The purpose of the role is to:
Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of administrative support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team
Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care, and other associated healthcare agencies
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the Practice administration team may include any or all the items in the following list. - Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols

We are looking for a Salaried GP to join our friendly medium sized practice for two days a week to cover four sessions, Thursday and Friday, however we are flexible. The list size is circa 7000 patients. The practice is well organised with efficient workflow and manageable appointment numbers. The team is passionate about collaborative and holistic care whilst maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Any candidates interested in an informal visit are most welcome.

Main duties of the job

Rainhill Village Surgery has offered General Medical Services to the local area since 1959 and has been structurally developed to provide excellent facilities from a converted semi-detached property with an extension and parking in a conservation area.
The Practice offers a wide range of general medical services to all its Patients who reside in the Rainhill area of St Helens.
Good transport links from M57 and M62 motorways.
Great links to local surgeries and active member of St Helens South PCN.
First-rate admin support: they take a lot of responsibility on, allowing GPs to concentrate on their clinical duties.
Rainhill Village Surgery has a good reputation and is a training practice. We host Medical Student placements and mentor FY2 placements.
As well as support from GPs in the Practice there is also good local support for early career GPs.

JOB TITLE: SALARIED GENERAL PRACTITIONER
REPORTS TO: THE PARTNERS (Clinically)

Job summary:
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical responsibilities:
- In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, lab results and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

Health & safety:
The post-holder will implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice health & safety policy, the practice health & safety manual, and the practice infection control policy and published procedures. This will include (but will not be limited to):
- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines
- Awareness of national standards of infection control and cleanliness and regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, and good practice guidelines
- Providing advice on the correct and safe management of the specimens process including collection, labelling, handling, use of correct and clean containers, storage and transport arrangements
- Correct personal use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensuring correct use of PPE by others, advising on appropriate circumstances for use by clinicians, staff and patients.
- Management of the full range of infection control procedures in both routine and extraordinary circumstances (e.g. pandemic or individual infectious circumstances)
