The Day Surgery Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our friendly, supportive and experienced team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic area that provides high-quality care to patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures.
The Day Surgery Unit is a busy, fast-paced environment that supports patients throughout their surgical journey, from admission and pre-operative preparation through to recovery and discharge. We are proud to provide safe, effective and compassionate care, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure the best possible patient experience. Staff work in line with our Trust values of Everyone Matters, Making a Difference and Working Together in all that they do.
This post will provide the successful candidate with opportunities to develop a broad range of clinical skills and experience across the perioperative pathway, supported by a knowledgeable and welcoming team committed to learning and development.
We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified nurses. You should be motivated, enthusiastic and keen to develop your knowledge and skills within the day surgery setting. Excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and a commitment to delivering high standards of patient care are essential.
Due to the nature of this role, we require candidates who apply to have current right to work in the UK.
Main duties of the job
To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse or key worker (with facilitation) for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:
- The assessment of care and health education needs
- The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient
To gain experience and skills in:
- Clinical practice
- Facilitation and teaching
- Management (as appropriate
To work in accordance with the RUH Nursing Strategy and contribute towards achieving its objectives and maintain effective communication and participate in clinical supervision as appropriate and to teach and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor/ role model to less experienced staff.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our department. This is a part-time post (18.75 hours per week) working as part of a job share arrangement alongside another part-time Senior Sister. The department operates Monday to Friday, 07:30-18:00.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide clinical and operational leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to lead and motivate teams, and support the development of staff and services.
The post holder will be self-motivated, organised and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. They will support workforce management, patient safety, governance, service improvement and the delivery of quality care.
The Eye Unit is a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary service caring for patients with a wide range of ophthalmic conditions. Our team includes nurses, healthcare support workers, ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians and administrative staff.

Main duties of the job
The Senior Sister/Charge Nurse is accountable and responsible for the care delivery and management of the Eye unit. This will including the supervision of staff and students. In order to achieve this the senior sister/charge nurse will work in a supervisory capacity and be expected to lead and manage team performance thus enhancing the patient experience, improving patient outcomes and contributing to the organisational priorities.

- Support Registrar training in Robotic Surgery across Colorectal, General Surgery, Urology specialties; performing the bedside assistant role. The SCP and consultant surgeon will be the core members of the theatre team and the Registrar will be in a training role. The SCP, who will be dedicated to Robotic Surgical delivery and surgeon training, and cannot be called away to deliver non-robotic work. The aim is to facilitate surgical training by allowing registrars time on console (as console surgeon) rather than working at the bedside as first assistant with limited access to training.

The role includes data collection and entry, general clerical duties, making appointments and contacting patients by phone (a good telephone manner is essential) and some reception cover where necessary.
Knowledge of the Soliton Radiology System is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
This is a permanent post that is part time and the working days are a Wednesday and Thursday.

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, accurate and motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant (Clinical Support Worker) to join our team in Cellular Pathology, at the Royal United Hospital, in the beautiful city of Bath.
Applicants will need to have experience as a Medical Laboratory Assistant working in pathology, ideally with proven recent competencies in Cellular Pathology; in-house training will be provided as necessary. A minimum qualification of NVQ3 or equivalent is required (e.g. 2 A-levels); however a degree level of qualification is not needed for this post.
Working as part of a team your main duties will include data inputting of histopathology samples, slide and block filing, using the pathology computer system (Ultra), receiving and delivering stores, assisting in the Histology and Cytology sections supporting our professional team (including Biomedical Scientists and Medical Consultants) and preparing multi-disciplinary clinico-pathological meetings.
This is a full-time, permanent position (37.5 hrs/wk), week-days only, with variable hours between 0800 and 1730.
This position will be based in the Histology section which processes 35,000 histology cases per annum. The Herschel Pathology Laboratories are situated in relatively new facilities; we are accredited by the IBMS for training and hold UKAS accreditation.

Responsible for carrying out all laboratory support tasks that do not require Biomedical Scientist State Registration. Principally these tasks are associated with the data entry confirming the quality of the data, specimen storage, retrieval and preparation of histological and cytological material under the direction of the Biomedical Scientist Team Manager/Professional Manager in accordance with approved methods and quality assurance protocols. Also assisting BMS and Medical Consultants and general laboratory duties.

Applications are invited for two full time (10PA) Consultant Haematologist posts, to join a team of nine consultant haematologists in Bath.
You will be working in a haematology department which is committed to providing high quality care and is at the forefront of innovative practice in the region. The posts will provide opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute to a rapidly evolving department which delivers high intensity chemotherapy and autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
We encourage a specialist interest and will endeavour to accommodate this. The department is an active recruiter to an expanding trial portfolio. The department also has strong research links with major academic centres in the region, including the Universities of Bath, Bristol and West of England. The successful candidates would be encouraged to open additional clinical trials and develop their own research interests.
You would be expected to become an accredited educational supervisor. Candidates for the post must be registered medical practitioners and on, or eligible to join the Specialist register for Haematology within six months of the date of the advisory appointments committee.
Main duties of the job
This post is a full time NHS post with 10 programmed activities (PAs). The appointee is expected to develop a specialist interest to complement the roles of the existing consultant team, but the department will endeavour to accommodate any specialist interest a candidate may have. Suitably qualified candidates may be eligible for an honorary academic appointment with the University of Bristol Medical School, to develop a research or specialist interest further.
FRCPath or equivalent and M/FRCP are essential qualifications for this post.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality care to women with complex pregnancies while contributing to the wider obstetric and gynaecology service. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the provision of safe, effective, and evidence-based care and will contribute to service development, teaching, and clinical governance activities.
Main duties of the job

Clinical Duties:
- Multidisciplinary team working is key component of the working within the Trust and involves regular MDT discussions with colleagues
- Providing evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care (with secretarial support)
- Development of sub-specialty interests that fit in with Division needs and the strategic direction of the Trust.

Neonatal Staff Nurse - Full time (37.5 hours) and part time hours available
Our Neonatal unit has 18 cots, which is comprised of 2 intensive cots, 4 high dependency cots and 12 special care cot's. We are a designated Local Neonatal Unit, (Level 2), providing excellent care for preterm babies from 27 weeks' gestation and for sick new born babies. We provide stabilisation for babies born at lower gestations prior to transfer to tertiary units by a designated network transport team.As a band 5 nurse you will work alongside an experienced team to provide care to a range of babies with a variety of conditions.

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and patient-focused Medicines Optimisation Assistant to join our dynamic Pharmacy Team within our acute hospital setting.
This exciting NEW role will support the delivery of high-quality medicines optimisation services across a range of inpatient wards and clinical specialties. Working closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in ensuring patients receive safe, effective and timely medicines throughout their hospital journey.
The successful candidate will contribute to medicines management, patient counselling, discharge planning and the promotion of best practice in medicines optimisation, helping to improve patient outcomes and enhance the patient experience. The post holder will also support and supervise more junior staff in the delivery of ward-based medicines optimisation activities.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Support the delivery of medicines optimisation services across inpatient wards.
- Ensure patients' own medicines are assessed, managed and utilised appropriately during admission.
- Actively co-ordinate medicines-related discharge processes to facilitate timely and safe patient discharge.
- Monitor discharge prescriptions and liaise with pharmacy, ward teams and prescribers to identify and resolve delays.
- Support the transfer of care process by ensuring accurate communication of medicines changes to patients, carers, community pharmacies and primary care providers.

Job summary
Do you have recent experience nursing patients in an acute / community setting as a qualified staff nurse? if so, we would love to hear from you.
We are seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Radiology Department on a full time basis.
You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality care to a defined patient group within the acute hospital setting. You will be responsible for the assessment, development, delivery and evaluation of evidence based individualised patient care within the boundaries of your role. You will contribute to the continuing development of standards of care including developments of nursing standards and monitoring of outcomes. You will be expected to continue with their own professional development.
Main duties of the job
1. Plan, deliver and evaluate compassionate nursing care to meet the patients individualised needs.
2. Ensure the highest standards of care and safety are maintained.
3. To support the nurse in charge with the day to day planning, the delivery of a high quality nursing service and the continuous improvement of that service.
4. To independently telephone pre assess patients for a variety of interventional procedures. This includes a role in assessing their suitability for the intervention, ordering appropriate tests and giving of appropriate advice.
5. To administer prescribed intravenous drugs to patients before and during an interventional procedure as appropriate. This includes acting as sedation assistant, administering and closely monitoring IV sedation, ensuring comfort and safety.
6. To ensure effective communication is achieved and maintained of sensitive information, with regard to the patient assessments and clinical details.
7. To prepare equipment for the safe care of the patient and assist Radiologist during sterile interventional procedures as scrub nurse.
8. To act as a role model, ensuring high quality, professional standards are maintained and delivered at all times.
