Job summary
Responsible for providing general housekeeping services to clinical and non-clinical areas of the Hospice ensuring high standards of cleanliness are maintained.
Main duties of the job
Maintain good communication across all departments.
Report any equipment or fittings that require maintenance in line with Hospice procedures
Judgements involving straightforward job related situations
Prioritise cleaning tasks of the IPU in order to deliver a clean working environment,
Clean all areas as detailed in the cleaning schedule and instruction from the Guest Services Manager or Nurse in charge.
Ensure the patient bedrooms / communal rooms are cleaned daily and kept clean and tidy to ensure a safe environment.
Ensure that following discharge, all rooms are deep cleaned in line with Infection Control policies.
To support with the laundry, ensuring linen levels are maintained, ensuring adequate supply is available, tidy and ready for use.
Ability to plan ahead to ensure efficient running of the IPU in terms of meeting cleaning standards.
Carry out quality spot checks through the working day and rectify any issues found.
Normal cleaning duties that will be obtained through practice and practical training.
Carry out laundry procedures as and when instructed.
Ensure that personal privacy, dignity and confidentiality relating to all aspects of patient care is met.
Be aware of the Health and Safety policies and the requirements of COSHH

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced catering co-ordinator to join our Hospice Bank. At St Cuthberts, we provide compassionate specialist palliative and end-of-life care to patients and support to their families. We are looking for a dedicated and caring Bank Catering Co-ordinator to join our team and be responsible for all areas of food production, maintaining the highest standards in order to meet both patient and our coffee shop requirements. You will work closely with colleagues across clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure the smooth running of all areas of the kitchen and create a welcoming environment that supports the dignity, comfort, and wellbeing of patients and their loved ones.
Main duties of the job
Duties
- Organize and coordinate catering services for patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring timely delivery of meals and refreshments
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to manage daily food preparation schedules and special dietary requirements
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in all catering areas in compliance with health regulations
- Assist with setting up dining areas for events or special occasions, creating a welcoming atmosphere
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operation of catering services and address any issues promptly
- Monitor stock levels of catering supplies and place orders as needed to ensure availability
- Support the delivery of dementia-friendly and senior care-focused meal options tailored to individual needs
Qualifications

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a casual Housekeeper to support with temporary sickness and holiday cover at St Cuthberts Hospice. The successful candidate will work as and when within the Hospice offices and the IPU to provide a safe and appropriate environment for staff, patients and families. They will maintain an excellent standard of cleanliness within all areas, to ensure Infection Control cleaning is maintained. They will be a team player and have the ability to work as part of a team and have an awareness of health and safety.
You will be required to possess excellent communication skills, be motivated, passionate and have a positive and enthusiastic attitude. You will be expected to be adaptable and to work with flexibility to cover the needs of the service. The role also involves a high degree of physical work. This role is to cover for holidays, absences and sickness. You will be expected to be flexible in the hours you work and available at short notice.

Our Living Well Centre delivers a 12 week programme offering advice and strategies to enable people with life limiting illnesses cope better with their health and wellbeing and support them to regain control of their life.
