An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Older Adults Therapy Team at Hillingdon Hospital for a part time (0.6 whole time equivalent / 22.5 hours per week) band 6 OT.
We are seeking a band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, integrated inpatient therapy department on our dementia friendly Older Adults Rehabilitation Unit. There is a strong, collaborative, MDT approach on the ward, which is Consultant led and supported by nurses, AHPs and the wider team including discharge support workers and charities.
The therapy department is the third largest staff group within the Trust and is widely respected. As a band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will play an essential part in the assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients receiving rehabilitation on Beaconsfield East. You will work closely with the patient, their support network, and Multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve a positive outcome. As a B6 you will also supervise junior staff and facilitate student placements, while being supported by experienced B7 OTs and PT to grow and maximise your potential.
You will primarily be based in the therapy department's Beaconsfield East team but will have the opportunity to work across wards to cover the acute Older Adult wards, and the wider department as the service demands, which includes a Discharge Ready Ward.
This post is currently weekday only, however the Trust is working today included in the 7-day service.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Therapy Team at Hillingdon Hospital for a part time band 6.
We are seeking a band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, integrated inpatient therapy department. Clinical
To autonomously complete the OT process with patients including:
o Comprehensive physical and cognitive assessment of needs
o Provide individualised and specialised treatments to patients on your caseload, which will include a variety of physical, cognitive, and psychological conditions.
o Lead and facilitate on patient discharges with arranging package of care, providing equipment and community support.
The OT process includes liaising with relatives, care givers and NOKs, providing updates regarding patients progress and discharge plans.
To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions.
To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment to ensure effectiveness of intervention.

The role involves undertaking a full range of complex vascular investigations, including arterial, venous, carotid, aneurysm and graft surveillance, EVAR follow up and vasospastic testing. You will produce clear, accurate reports using the Trust's electronic systems and communicate any urgent findings to the vascular and stroke teams. The post requires an adaptable approach to scanning techniques to meet individual patient needs, alongside active contribution to service development, audit, research and wider clinical governance. The Infant Feeding Support Worker is a key member of the multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of a high-quality, family-centred infant feeding service based on current evidence and best practice.
The post holder will provide practical, evidence-based infant feeding support and education to women, birthingpeopleand their families across maternity and neonatal services, including postnatal wards, the neonatal unit, transitional care, community settings, and telephone support. They will promote parent-infant bonding, and informed decision-making, empowering families to achieve their individual feeding goals.
Working closely with midwives and the wider multidisciplinary team, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of safe, compassionate, and consistent care,maintainingprivacy, dignity, and respectat all times.
The Infant Feeding Support Worker will develop sensitive, non-judgemental relationships with women, birthingpeopleand their families, actively seeking their views to better understand and respond to individual needs. Through effective communication and specialist knowledge, they will help ensure a positive infant feeding experience and improved outcomes for mothers, babies, and families.
Main duties of the job
o Provide evidence-based infant feeding support and education to women and families during the antenatal and postnatal period, enabling them to feed their babies effectively and responsively.
o Promote parent-infant attachment through skin-to-skin contact and responsive parenting in line with UNICEF UK Baby Friendly standards.
o Work collaboratively with the Infant Feeding Team, midwives, neonatal and paediatric staff, and other healthcare professionals to support infant feeding and implement individualised feeding plans.
o Identify and escalate infant feeding concerns, including feeding difficulties, weight loss, jaundice, milk supply concerns and infant wellbeing issues.
o Maintain accurate electronic patient records and communicate effectively with women, families and healthcare professionals regarding care, progress and any concerns.
o Manage workload within agreed role boundaries under the direction of the Infant Feeding Co-ordinator or deputy.
o Support informed feeding choices, including maximising breastmilk, safe supplementation where required, and safe, responsive formula feeding in line with national guidance.
o Work safely in community settings when required and comply with Trust policies, including infection prevention and control.
o Assist in maintaining a clean, safe clinical environment, including equipment, storage areas, beds and cots, and support the safe transfer of women and babies when required.

The post holder will also assist in the development of individual staff through the appraisal process in alignment with the Trusts core CARES values.
A passion for emergency care nursing with proven communication skills, good time management skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to be flexible are the qualities that will enable you to fulfil this role.
You will act as role model for the nursing team in the department; additionally; you will be able to provide professional leadership, motivation, direction and inspiration to all members of the multidisciplinary team.
This role necessitates demonstrable post registration experience in an Emergency Department setting at Band 6 or above, proven leadership and communication skills, and the ability to initiate and effect change for service improvement.
Main duties of the job
- To provide clinical nursing and managerial expertise in all aspects of the paediatric emergency speciality, ensuring the highest possible standards of nursing care and use of technical support equipment, within the efficient utilisation of resources.
- Working independently with patient and relatives as a paediatric expert assessing, treating and liaising with the medical teams regarding admission or discharge following their episode of unscheduled care.
- Provide teaching and educational support for nursing and medical colleagues in the practice of paediatric care within the emergency department.
- To be responsible for creating a dynamic environment which supports the continuing education of staff and students? The post holder will provide the link between clinical practice and higher education for student nurse placement.
- Promote clinical governance and risk management within the paediatric emergency department.
- In conjunction with the Matron for ED have 24-hour continuing responsibility for the delivery of high quality patient centred care.
- To be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of governments policies and targets associated with paediatric services, such as the four-hour wait and children's NSF.
