Job summary
We currently have a full-time vacancy for an experienced Medical Receptionist, working 37 hours per week over 5 days.
The successful applicant will need to be flexible and able to work a combination of morning and afternoon shifts between 7:30am and 6:30pm, in line with practice requirements. Flexibility is essential, as you may also be required to provide additional cover for staff sickness and annual leave, sometimes at short notice.
This role would suit an individual who thrives in a busy healthcare environment, can adapt to changing demands, and is committed to providing an excellent service to our patients.
Main duties of the job
North Shore Surgery is looking for an intelligent, self-motivated individual with a positive and friendly approach to join our busy, well-organised team.
Previous experience in a primary care setting is desirable, although applicants with strong transferable skills and a willingness to learn will also be considered. This is a varied and sometimes demanding role within a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to prioritise their workload effectively, adapt quickly to changing demands, and learn new skills with confidence.
We are looking for someone who uses initiative, applies common sense, works well as part of a team, and brings a good sense of humour to the workplace. The successful candidate will be expected to attend relevant training courses and participate in practice meetings as part of their ongoing professional development.
About us
North Shore Surgery is a large, modern, and forward-thinking training practice based in North Blackpool. We are proud to provide high-quality patient care through our experienced and multidisciplinary clinical team, comprising 5 GPs, 3 Advanced Practitioners, 5 skilled Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Practice Pharmacists, and a Paramedic.
As an active member of the North Primary Care Network (PCN), we benefit from access to an extended healthcare team, enabling us to offer a wider range of services and support to our patients. Through the PCN, we work closely with Care Co-ordinators, First Contact Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, GP Assistants, and a Digital Lead, ensuring patients receive the right care from the right professional at the right time.

Job summary
Have you ever thought about working for the NHS?
Behind every appointment, every clinic, every patient seen - there is someone who made it happen.
Our Assistant Medical Secretaries are the unseen heroes of patient care. The reassuring voice on the phone. The organised mind behind the clinic list. The calm presence supporting patients in what can often be their most worrying moments. Without them, patients don't get seen. Services don't run. Care doesn't flow.
We are recruiting an administrator to join our Gastroenterology team at Grimsby Hospital, to cover a period of Maternity. You don't need previous NHS experience - we can teach you the systems. What we can't teach is compassion, professionalism and the ability to care about getting things right for patients. That's what we're looking for.
Main duties of the job
What you'll bring:
- A caring and compassionate approach
- Confidence communicating with patients and the public
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Basic IT skills (typing, email, data entry, use of computer systems)
- The ability to work as part of a close-knit team
- Calmness in a sometimes fast-paced environment
What you'll gain:
- The chance to make a real difference every single day
- One of the best pension schemes available
- Generous annual leave entitlement - because you work hard and deserve proper time off
- Structured training and ongoing support
- Genuine career progression - many of our senior leaders began in administrative roles
Patient care is at the heart of everything we do, and our administrative teams are central to making that care possible. If you are organised, compassionate, and want a role where your work truly matters, we would love to hear from you.
