As a Registered Nurse working in the Gynaecology Clinic and Early Pregnancy Unit within Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, you will be enthusiastic about women's health, with the vision and passion to optimise high quality patient care.

The early pregnancy department is busy managing women in the early stage of pregnancy including pregnancy loss. There is also a varied range of Gynaecology clinics running - MIT; performing hysteroscopies and other minor treatments, Colposcopy clinics; run by the specialist nurse or doctors, general gynaecology clinics, urogynaecology/pessary clinics; as a nurse led service, post menopausal bleed clinics; run by one of our specialist nurses or doctors. and gynaecology oncology service; working with our cancer nurse specialist nurses.

You will need to adapt to the many varying clinics within the department. You will need to enjoy working within an evolving service. There will be an expectation that you will be prepared to support learners within the department. This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a 24-month training post combining supervised clinical training with an accredited Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) in Medical Ultrasound at the department's chosen Higher Education Institution. Training will be delivered by an experienced team of sonographers and provide the knowledge, technical skills and professional behaviours required to become a competent Reporting Sonographer. The Ultrasound Department comprises 12 WTE Radiographer and Midwife Sonographers delivering 30,000 examinations annually across Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. The service operates from 10 ultrasound rooms, including five within the Women's Health Unit, three within the Radiology Department at Torbay Hospital and two at Newton Abbot Community Hospital. We provide inpatient, ambulatory and outpatient services, supporting referrals from Acute Medicine, Surgery, Emergency Department, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, DVT pathways and General Practice. About us

Our surgical service is based in the purpose-built Eye Surgery Unit (ESU), above the Eye Clinic. The ESU provides a one-stop cataract assessment, surgical booking and admissions service. The small number of inpatients are admitted here before transfer to a ward postoperatively. Surgery is undertaken at Torbay Hospital, with potential use of the Centre of Excellence for Eyes at Nightingale Hospital, Exeter. A second ophthalmic theatre at Torbay Hospital opened in February 2024 and provides dedicated HVLC lists.

Most minor lid procedures (entropion, ectropion and lesion excision) are performed in the outpatient minor operations suite.
