Job summary
The future of Emergency Care in Dorset remains exciting, with a major new Emergency site being created in Bournemouth , which will see it being one of the biggest Emergency Departments on the South Coast. The Royal Bournemouth Hospital, be at the forefront of this development with our staff being the cornerstone of the new nursing team in the future.
Combined, the Poole and Royal Bournemouth Emergency Departments see over 400 patients per day, each encompassing all major specialties and Poole was ranked in the top 6 of all Emergency Departments nationally for the standard of care that we deliver. Both sites also run an urgent treatment centre in collaboration with the local primary care service and manage minor injuries from across the conurbation.
This role requires: Diploma in Adult Nursing or Children's Nursing/Degree in Nursing or related subject and an active UK NMC registration
Base Location: Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospital

We are looking to appoint a Cardiology Consultant Personal Assistant (PA) to join our busy, friendly and supportive team, working 34 hours per week.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-organised and proactive individual to provide high-quality administrative and operational support to Consultant Cardiologists within a fast-paced and dynamic service.
This is a key role, essential to the smooth running of cardiology clinics and services. You will support patient pathways and act as a central point of contact for consultants, multidisciplinary teams, patients and external stakeholders, ensuring an efficient and professional service is delivered at all times.

Main duties of the job
- Type clinic and additional correspondence to GPs, patients and other allied health professionals in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide a fast and accurate audio-typing service using Trust-approved systems, including Amplify
- Cover for other Consultant PAs and medical secretaries during periods of absence to ensure service continuity
- Manage consultant email inboxes and take appropriate action on correspondence where required
- Relieve consultants of non-clinical administrative duties wherever possible
- Organise meetings, prepare agendas and take accurate minutes as required
- Provide line management to a team of medical secretaries/administrative staff, offering professional leadership, supervision and motivation to deliver a high-quality service
- Ensure Trust values are upheld and demonstrated on a daily basis, treating all patients with dignity and respect and maintaining a consistently high standard of service delivery

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Support Secretary to join our Urology Team at UHD. We are looking for an enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Assistant to join a dedicated team in a modern department, providing a high-quality service. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your experience.
Cellular Pathology has a high quality UKAS accreditation record and it is an approved laboratory for Registration and Specialist training by the IBMS.
This is a fixed term post and duties will include laboratory and administrative tasks which may at times be of a complex nature.
The Cellular Pathology team is made up of all different grades of Scientist, including medical laboratory staff, Associate Practitioners and Biomedical Scientists with the aim of putting the patient first and delivering a high-quality service.
The role is part-time , and you will be required to work 37.5 hours per week (Monday and Friday 8.30-4.30).
Previous medical laboratory experience would be desirable, but full training will be provided.

It is a very busy environment with a constant flow of traffic from all areas within the unit.
1 x 30 hours
There is shift work involved over a 4 week rota. There is 3 shift patterns are:
Early- 6am until 2pm
Late- 2pm until 10pm
Night- 10pm - 6am
There will be two weekends to work over the 4 week rolling rota.

Job summary
The purpose of the Surgical Admissions Booking Officer will be to comply with all administrative procedures associated with the admission of elective, planned, diagnostic and cancer patients in order to contribute to the delivery of waiting time targets for admissions.

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Ophthalmologist within the Oculoplastic, Lacrimal and Cataract service. This is a substantive 8.0 PA, consultant post.
Main duties of the job
We have a well-established oculoplastic service with high volume periocular skin cancer and lid malposition surgery. Endoscopic, endonasal and external lacrimal surgery is carried out both with and without assistance of ENT colleagues. There is a 6 weekly joint thyroid clinic with a consultant in endocrinology and orthoptic input and the majority of orbital cases are also managed locally. Research is encouraged and there have been regular prospective trials.

We are looking for a post holder to join a team of existing Acute Physicians in the Acute Medicine Directorate at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) and support the further development of our consultant-led acute assessment, early discharge and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service.
UHD has Acute Medical Units (AMU) on both the Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) site and the Poole Hospital site and medical takes will continue each site over the next 18 months to 2 years as the organisation works towards delivering on the Dorset Clinical Services Review and aligning all Emergency work at the Major Emergency Hospital (on the current RBH site). The successful candidates would be expected to work cross site as we manage the transition to a single AMU and Medical SDEC on the Emergency site.
The successful candidates will work closely with the Emergency Department consultants, the medical specialties and the AMU staff on each hospital site to deliver optimum patient care and ensure we remain at the forefront of Acute Medicine.
Applicants are expected to have a broad experience in medicine, to be able to manage appropriate patients in an Ambulatory Emergency Care setting and to support colleagues to manage their patients in a similar way. There will be the opportunity to develop an area of special interest in line with existing services within the department.

We would like to invite applications from newly qualified midwives to join our midwifery team at University Hospitals Dorset.
Our Maternity Service provides a full range of midwifery care for families in East Dorset. The service delivers care to 4000 women per annum. Join us at an exciting time at our new location in the newly built "BEACH Building".
As a preceptor programme midwife at UHD, you will be fully supported by the Practice Education Team during your preceptorship. This will enable you to build up essential midwifery competencies.
On completion of your preceptorship, you will have a gateway conversation with a senior member of the team to be appointed as a band 6 midwife.
Main duties of the job
The service includes a high risk labour ward alongside dedicated operating theatres and high dependency rooms. The maternity service offers an alongside midwife led unit that has 6 ensuite delivery rooms, incorporating birthing pools. There is an on call home birth service for the delivery of care to women who wish to give birth at home. In addition, the service offers a traditional model of midwifery care with separate teams for the acute and community service.
Our Maternity services are regarded as a friendly place to work, with great team spirit and culture in all areas of the service.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Nursing Clinical Leader for Older Peoples Same Day Emergency Care.
Ops SDEC has recently adopted the SDEC first approach and increased their activity by over 40%.
OPS SDEC Team is a Multiple disciplinary team of ACP's, Consultants, HCA's and recently recruited Band 5 Nurses.
Main goal is to facilitate a Front door Service, in reaching into the Emergency Department and accepting referrals from the ambulance Service.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 5 Nurses to join the acute out-patient parental antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) service as part of UHD's Hospital at Home/Virtual Ward Team. This team will also be providing care to general medical patients in the future with the development of new patient pathways being explored.
The post requires flexible working between the acute sites and the service hopes to develop in the future to provide care in patients' homes to administer intravenous antimicrobials and perform patient observations and assessments. Therefore a valid driving license and access to a vehicle is necessary to fulfil this role.
Providing a high-quality service that is patient-centred is important to us; the successful candidate will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse with a flexible, dynamic approach to patient care.
The role requires an active UK NMC Registration. Unfortunately we are not able to take any pre-NMC registered nurses in this role.
Base Location: Poole Hospital but cross site working will be required. OPAT run a clinic at Bournemouth Hospital once weekly.
Hours: OPAT have 30 hours available. Unfortunately we cannot offer any more than this. We work 7.5 hour shifts.

Main duties of the job
The UHD Hospital at home pathway is exciting and always evolving. Working through pathways in order to achieve flow and get patients back into their own environment. With the aim of delivering a high level of person centred acute care outside of a hospital ward environment. Safe practice is therefore essential.
Patients who meet defined eligibility criteria and have a 'Criteria to Reside' in acute hospital care, may be able to have observations, monitoring and treatments easily delivered at home, under the right supervision of our specialist teams.
You will be work alongside a team of band 7's ECPS to run a daily clinic at the Poole hospital site. This clinic sees patients to assess their treatment plan, take bloods, deliver antibiotics and provide other treatments. Other clinical duties involve screening of patients who are appropriate for the service. You will work closely with our wider MDT including; the lead Consultant Microbiologists and Antimicrobial pharmacists as well as engaging with clinical teams from a variety of specialities and community teams including patients GPs.
The Hospital at Home service is continually developing and being part of this will be part of your role.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Radiology team at the University Hospital Dorset
The successful candidate will work part time, covering both sites and in addition take part in a shift rotation covering weekends. Main duties of the job
The Radiology Directorate undertakes a wide variety of examinations including X-rays, ultrasound scans and procedures under radiology guidance. Radiography Department Assistants (RDA's) work in all these areas undertaking various roles. The main duties are:
- Performing basic nursing duties and care of the patient including applying dressings, dealing with bodily fluids, taking observations etc.
- Assisting Consultants and advanced practitioners with procedures under radiology guidance such as biopsies, drainages and aspirations.
- Inputting data into the department computer systems.
- Assisting patients to prepare for examinations by helping them undress and explaining the procedure to them whilst maintaining privacy and dignity.
- Preparing procedure rooms for the forthcoming patients by laying up sterile trolleys, mixing barium compounds etc.
- Assisting the patients through examinations, helping them to manoeuvre on the examination table, providing re-assurance and giving an explanation of what is happening.
- Liaison with other wards, departments and staff members to arrange patient appointments/care.
You will be working with Consultant Radiologists, Sonographers and Radiographers. A basic knowledge of nursing, or experience in a caring profession would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
- Assess, investigate, diagnose, treat and safely manage patients presenting with urgent, undifferentiated illness and minor injury within the Urgent Treatment Centres.
- Deliver high-quality urgent primary care across both Poole and Bournemouth Urgent Treatment Centres, supporting service resilience and equitable patient access.
- Provide senior clinical decision-making, ensuring safe, effective and timely management of patients in accordance with national and local clinical guidance.

Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Support Worker at UHD, you will be at the centre of patient care, supporting people through some of the most important and vulnerable moments of their lives. Working alongside registered nurses and other healthcare professionals, you will help to deliver safe, compassionate and high-quality care on our wards. Your day-to-day duties will include: o supporting patients with personal care such as washing, dressing, eating and mobility o helping patients to remain as independent as possible o assisting the nursing team with delegated care tasks o supporting patients and their families, including during end of life care o providing enhanced therapeutic observation, such as 1:1 or cohort care where required o keeping accurate records and sharing important information with the clinical team This is a hands-on role in a busy environment, where no two days are the same. You do not need to have all the skills to start - we are looking for people who are compassionate, reliable, willing to learn, and able to work well as part of a team. Every shift, you will demonstrate the UHD values through the care and support you provide. As our inpatient services operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, successful candidates must be able to work flexibly across a range of shifts, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
