Part Time 19.5 hours
Thursday 08:00 - 18:30 and Friday 08:00 - 18:00, each inclusive of a 30 minute unpaid break.
Main duties of the job
As the first point of contact for our patients, you will warmly welcome them to our practice, ensuring their needs are met promptly and professionally. Duties include answering calls, directing patients to the appropriate clinician, managing appointments, and aiding with general enquiries.
Your responsibilities will extend to various administrative tasks aimed at maintaining the efficiency of our practice. This includes managing electronic requests, updating patient records, handling document workflow, and managing email correspondence. You will also assist in registering new patients, distributing mail, and managing patient communication within our clinical system.

We are seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Windmill Surgery on a part-time basis for 20 hours per week, 8:00 1830 Mon, 8 1pm Weds and Friday. This is far more than a traditional support role you will be a vital member of the nursing and practice team, contributing directly to the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate patient care while supporting service efficiency and quality improvement.

Main duties of the job
This is a hands-on, patient-facing clinical support role working closely with the nursing and wider multidisciplinary team to promote health, prevent illness, and support the ongoing management of patients across the practice.
You will carry out a range of clinical tasks including patient health checks, observations, phlebotomy, urine testing, and ECG recording where trained, supporting both routine and long-term condition monitoring. The role also involves assisting with vaccination programmes, wound care, suture and staple removal where appropriate, and providing patients with health promotion advice to support self-care and wellbeing.
You will maintain accurate and timely clinical records, respond to patient queries, and work collaboratively across the practice to ensure smooth, safe, and effective care delivery. Flexibility, professionalism, and a compassionate approach are essential as you support both patients and colleagues in a fast-paced Primary Care environment.

Initially, this position is being offered as a fixed-term maternity cover role however, there is the potential for the post to become permanent for the right candidate, subject to practice requirements.
