Job summary
The Medical Secretary/Administrative Assistant provides comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Occupational Health team to ensure that administrative aspects of the service run smoothly. In addition to Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust the Occupational Health service also provides services to a number of other external organisations. The nature of work is very diverse and highly confidential and can be physically demanding.
This position is based at: Occupational Health Wigan Investment Centre, Waterside Drive, Wigan, WN3 5BA.
Note: 2 x positions available.
1 x 37.5 hours per week - Permanent position
1 x 37.5 hours per week fixed term position (please note this position is currently pending authorisation).

Main duties of the job
Provides comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to the Occupational Health team. This work is of a highly confidential nature relating to personal health records, medical reports and the handling of confidential correspondence.
Typing (some audio) confidential reports for the Consultant Occupational Physician and Occupational Health Nurse Advisors. Typing/formatting reports as required for both medical and nursing staff. Medical reports can be detailed and intricate requiring concentration and attention to detail (e.g. include medical terminology and named drug references).
Responding to and actioning e-mails or sending to the appropriate member if the team in a timely manner.
Answer telephone enquiries, directing queries/messages to the appropriate member of the Occupational Health Team in a timely manner.
Book and Change appointments in response to telephone calls, ensuring all data entries and documentation are changed accurately.
Undertake reception duties i.e. run clinics, greet clients to the department, etc.
Display a professional attitude at all times when dealing with the general public and colleagues alike whilst using effective communication skills to influence the outcome in issues causing concern.

This is a key role that will work with and support payroll and pension colleagues in providing an accurate and quality payroll service to the Trust and clients. The role will assist the Payroll Team Leaders in the end-to-end monthly processes and procedures in accordance with policies and best practice. Assist in supporting managers to manage; ensuring they have access to the data required to successfully manage their team/s and provide support and guidance, when required.

This nationally recognised, work-based qualification is delivered in partnership with Wigan & Leigh College. Apprentices will be employed by the Trust throughout the two-year programme and will undertake work-based learning and clinical assessments within operating theatres and other care environments across the Trust. Theoretical teaching and assessments will be delivered at Wigan & Leigh College.
This is a fixed-term training post for two years and may lead to a permanent position on successful completion of the programme.
Maths and English Functional Skills Level 1 or GCSE equivalent are mandatory requirements. Evidence of these qualifications must be provided at interview.
Internal candidates and employees of other NHS Trusts must obtain secondment approval from their current line manager before applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made.
Although advertised as a temporary position, successful candidates may be offered a permanent Band 3 role on completion of the qualification, subject to funding and service needs.
Main duties of the job
This is a developmental role. The apprentice will work towards the successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (Perioperative Support) qualification. The apprentice will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of a Theatre Assistant (Theatre Health Care Assistant) predominantly within operating theatres and through completion of the apprenticeship programme, will support the delivery of person-centred perioperative care.
You will learn a diverse set of skills and knowledge to support registered nurses and ODPs in the delivery of safe and effective perioperative care.
The Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (Perioperative Support) Apprenticeship allows you to combine work and clinical placement learning with formal study to achieve the required 20% off the job apprenticeship training.
Upon successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (Perioperative Support) apprenticeship, apprentices will be able to apply for a permanent Theatre Assistant position within the Trust. As a Theatre Assistant, you will be supported to further develop your skills and competencies.
You will be employed as member of the theatre team as an Apprentice Theatre Assistant on a 2-year fixed term Band 2 contract and will be working predominately in the perioperative environment.

Planning and Organisational Duties
The post holder will be required to:
- Arrange for the transport and disposal of clinical, domestic, sensitive and confidential waste in accordance to Trust Policy.

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Research Support Officer to join the Research Governance team within the Research and Development Department. Job summary
We are looking for aSenior Health Care Support Worker to work 37.5 hours per week.
The Senior Health Care Support Worker will undertake high quality, caring and compassionate personal care/clinical and associated duties under the direction and supervision of the registered professional both independently and working as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Job summary
The Pharmacy department are seeking to appoint a motivated and dynamic Pharmacy Technician.
You will need to be inspirational and determined in your approach and be able to influence healthcare professionals outside of traditional pharmacy boundaries. You will spend most of your working week on your ward. Main duties of the job
Directly accountable to the Pharmacy Technician Team Manager you will help shape services and standards, driving improvements in medicines optimisation.
This is an extremely exciting time to join our pharmacy team. We are developing our own ward based pharmacy support to all wards. The wards have their own dedicated pharmacist / technician and assistant, to support medicines optimisation, and to deliver proactive ward-based pharmacy services by supporting effective discharge planning and patient counselling and education.
Alongside our medical, nursing and pharmacy colleagues, you must have a strong desire to help manage change in policies, procedures and associated risk management activities which lead to quality improvements on admission and discharge.
You will improve key performance indicators in patient education about medicines, time to discharge, length of stay and re-admission rates. This approach has been shown to reduce length of stay; get patients home earlier in the day, reduce readmission rates, reduce drug expenditure, and improve patient and staff experience.
We have Medicine Administration technicians on various wards across the trust to support our nursing colleagues.
