Looking for flexibility without compromising on the benefits of working for the NHS? As a Bank Healthcare Assistant, you can choose shifts that fit around your lifestyle while making a real difference to patient care. Whether you're looking for extra hours, returning to practice, balancing family commitments or seeking greater control over your work-life balance, our Staff Bank offers the freedom to work when and where it suits you.
You could be based in one of our community hospitals, supporting care home services, or working as part of a wider community team. With a variety of shifts available across different locations and services, no two days are the same. Unlike agency work, you'll be part of the NHS team, with access to paid annual leave, the NHS Pension Scheme, training opportunities and the support of a friendly and experienced workforce. If you're flexible, reliable and passionate about delivering high-quality care, our Staff Bank could be the perfect fit for you.
Main duties of the job
As a Bank Healthcare Assistant, you will provide compassionate, person-centred care to patients with a range of health needs, supporting both their clinical care and independence. Working alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals, you'll carry out a variety of duties, including personal care, basic observations, nutrition and hydration support, venepuncture, ECGs, simple wound care, catheter and stoma care, bladder scanning and specimen management.
You will accurately record care provided, contribute to risk assessments and support patients with complex physical health needs, frailty and dementia using a compassionate, trauma-informed approach. Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills are essential, as you'll play a key role in ensuring patients receive safe, effective and dignified care. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to gain experience across a range of services while choosing shifts that work for you, giving you both flexibility and variety in your NHS career.
About us

Any changes would be subject to consultation and managed sensitively and in line with relevant employment processes. Please do contact the recruiting manager if you have any concerns about this so they can answer any questions you might have.

Job summary
Are you a compassionate, organised and experienced counsellor or bereavement support professional looking to make a meaningful difference to patients, families and carers at one of life's most difficult times?
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Bereavement Coordinator to join our Patient and Family Support Team at Marie Curie Bradford Hospice on a 9-month fixed term maternity cover contract.
In this rewarding role, you will coordinate and deliver bereavement support for people connected to the hospice, helping to ensure that patients, families and those important to them receive timely, compassionate and appropriate support before and after bereavement. You will be a key point of contact for people accessing bereavement counselling and support, working closely with colleagues, volunteers, students and external partners to provide a responsive, high-quality service.
About us
Marie Curie is the UK's leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they're likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.
We want a different society than the one we live in now. Our mission for the next five years is to close the gap in the number of people missing out on what they need at the end-of-life, through 3 ways:
- Growing and transforming our direct care and support
- Delivering more practical information and support
- Leading in shaping the end-of-life experience

Associate Director of Infrastructure: PFI & Contracting
The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust View all jobs
Posted 1 month(s) ago
Reference: 001545
Job summary
We are seeking an experienced senior commercial and contracting leader to join our Infrastructure leadership team as Associate Director of Infrastructure: PFI & Contracting.
This is a significant appointment within the Trust and an opportunity to lead a strategically important portfolio at a time when we are strengthening our approach to PFI, commercial management and wider contracting arrangements.
Our PFI arrangements are complex, long term and central to the effective operation of our estate. We are looking for an individual who can bring strong commercial judgement, contractual expertise and strategic leadership to ensure the Trust is represented confidently and effectively in its relationships with the SPV, service partners and other key stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
As Associate Director of Infrastructure: PFI & Contracting, you will provide senior leadership across the Trust's PFI and wider contracting portfolio. You will be responsible for strengthening commercial and contractual management, developing effective governance and ensuring the Trust has clear oversight of performance, risk, lifecycle, remedial activity and contractual obligations.
A key part of the role will be developing mature and constructive relationships with our PFI partners. We are looking for someone who understands that effective commercial management requires both challenge and collaboration: an individual who can protect the Trust's interests, hold partners appropriately to account and build the relationships needed to deliver sustainable long-term outcomes.
You will work closely with senior leaders across the Trust and with external partners at Director and senior management level. The role therefore requires considerable judgement, credibility and the ability to communicate complex commercial matters clearly and persuasively.
You will also have an opportunity to help shape the future development of the PFI and remedial works function, strengthening capability, structures and ways of working within the team.
About us
We are an acute trust caring for over one million people in Wakefield and Kirklees. Our 10,000 staff work in patients homes, the community, and our three hospitals in Pontefract, Dewsbury, and Pinderfields (Wakefield). We prioritise our people and values so we can deliver the best possible care to patients. Our team is friendly, passionate, and innovative, always seeking better ways to work. We support work-life balance and foster a diverse, inclusive environment where everyone belongs. Our staff networks offer safe spaces to share ideas and concerns so we can increase awareness and appreciation of equality, diversity, and inclusion. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and especially encourage members of the LGBTQ+ community, ethnic minority groups, and people with disabilities or neurodivergence to apply, as they are currently underrepresented in the Trust. As a member of the team, you will have access to the NHS pension plan, a generous holiday allowance, employee health and wellbeing services and extensive benefits and support. These include onsite nurseries, childcare vouchers, home electronics schemes, working carers support, carer-friendly policies, and more. If you value caring, high standards, improvement, and respect, join the MY team to make a difference every day.

You may already be working within the NHS, but NHS experience is not the only route to success in this role. We are equally interested in individuals from PFI/PPP project companies, facilities management providers, infrastructure businesses, commercial advisory organisations or other complex public-sector contracting environments.

At Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, our infrastructure supports the delivery of care to the patients and communities we serve. We therefore see strong commercial management, effective partnerships and robust contractual arrangements as essential to creating safe, resilient and high-quality healthcare environments.
This appointment is part of the continuing development of our senior Infrastructure leadership team and reflects the strategic importance we place on our PFI and contracting portfolio.
For the right individual, this is an opportunity to take responsibility for a substantial and influential portfolio, strengthen the Trusts commercial position and help shape how we manage these important relationships for the future.
If you are a commercially astute senior leader who combines contractual expertise with integrity, constructive challenge and a strong partnership ethos, we would welcome your application.
