We are looking for a Therapy Assistant to join our Interim Team.
The Interim service was set up in 2013 and over the years has grown from a tiny team based at one desk, to a large and highly effective service supporting hundreds of patients home every year.
We support patients home under a pathway known as "ICAT", which stands for Interim Care Assessment Team. This means that we complete our own assessment of the patient's care needs using a rehab approach. Once a patient is assessed as either needing further rehab (with reablement and Intermediate Care), long term POC or will achieve independence in a week. If a long term POC is required this information is gathered through assessment & fed back to the Social Workers by the senior members of staff, to put a future plan in place for on-going support, or to continue to support the patient back to independence.
As part of our assessment we often deliver and fit equipment, assess mobility and transfers and observe patient safety and abilities in their activities of daily living.
The Interim Team play an important role in aiding flow through the hospital and limiting harm to patients that is caused by prolonged hospital stays. We are in a good position to provide short term assessment and to be able to signpost to other services if needed.
Base Location: Christchurch Hospital
Interview: 14th September
Main duties of the job
- To provide care and rehabilitation and fitting of equipment to patients discharged from UHD to enable patients to leave the acute hospital as soon as they are suitable to.
- To work in the community under the clinical supervision of the team Occupational Therapists.
- To ensure each patient contact is therapeutic and as per the care plan to ensure patients are supported through their recovery and enabled to regain their independence.
- To have a knowledge and understanding of assistive equipment, techniques and supportive services available to support our patients and their families.
- To support the Interim team with administration tasks, service improvement projects and our education and training programme
- To work over a 7 Day rota period in order to meet the demands of the service
- To support end of life patients when required
About us

If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not bereimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.

Job summary
Locum Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia (10 PA, 12 months)
Applicants are invited to apply for this Locum Consultant post in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia at Barts Health NHS Trust, based at St Bartholomew's Hospital.
In October 2014, NHS England approved the case for change for the way that specialist cardiovascular services are provided across north and east London, enabling the creation of the Barts Heart Centre. The Barts Heart Centrewas created by combiningthe services and staff from the London Chest Hospital and UCLH's The Heart Hospital, along with those already running at St Bartholomew's.
It is the largest specialist cardiovascular centre in the country, bringing together a wide range of expertise in clinical care, research and education for cardiovascular conditions.
With state-of-the-art facilities, the Barts Heart Centre has 10 theatres, 10 catheter labs (including 2 hybrid rooms), 255 general cardiac beds and 98 higher acuity care beds (including 58 Level 3 critical care beds). The centre has one of the busiest surgical programmes in Europe and performs more HAC PCIs and cardiac MRI and CT scans than any other centre in the world. Barts Heart Centre has a well-established ECLS programme for respiratory and cardiac support.
Main duties of the job
It is Europe's largest specialised cardiovascular centre, covering a population of three million people across north and east London, west Essex and beyond. It also creates the world's biggest centre of excellence for adults with congenital heart disease. The Thorax Centre provides multi-disciplinary care for patients with lung disease.
The expansion of the critical care beds within Barts Heart Centre and St Bartholomew's Hospital has brought to fruition the clinical case for change that was supported by the commissioners in October 2014. This has realised the strategic aims to support the cardiac network, complex intervention at Barts and enhancementof our complex aortic vascular surgical service.
The Barts Heart Centre is also, crucially, part of a wider network of cardiovascular provision delivered by Barts Health, including services at Newham, The Royal London, Whipps Cross and University College London Hospital. The specialist BartsHeart Centre works with these and other hospitals in the area to provide a comprehensive network of care for patients, and ensure that the majority of care is provided as close to home as possible. There is a busy specialist outpatient department on the Barts site.
About us
Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain's leading healthcare providers.
Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.
We strive to live by our WeCare values and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment.
