Job summary
Social Worker - Permanence Support Team (Adopt Thames Valley) Join Adopt Thames Valley's specialist Permanence Support Team and help make a lasting difference to the lives of adopted children and their families. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Social Worker with adoption experience to develop their expertise within a dedicated post-adoption support service. The team provides specialist support to adopters, adopted children, birth relatives and adults affected by adoption, helping families thrive and achieve positive long-term outcomes. As a Social Worker, you will work closely with children, families and partner agencies to assess needs, provide targeted support and contribute to the development of high-quality permanence services. You will support Team Managers in maintaining excellent service standards, ensuring services are delivered in line with Adopt Thames Valley policies, procedures and children's rights principles. Working within a highly supportive and experienced team, you will utilise your assessment, analytical and report-writing skills to help families access the support they need. You will also contribute to safeguarding responsibilities, service development and collaborative working across the region. We are seeking a qualified Social Worker with at least three years' post-qualifying experience in adoption and/or family placement services. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop specialist knowledge within adoption and permanence while making a meaningful difference to children's lives.
Main duties of the job
As a Social Worker within the Permanence Support Team, you will provide specialist post-adoption support to adopted children, adoptive families and others affected by adoption. You will undertake assessments, coordinate support services, contribute to safeguarding and help ensure children and families receive the guidance and support needed to achieve positive outcomes.

Job summary
In line with the governments priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) role is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.
Main duties of the job
This is a training position, the post holder will undertake training at Kings College London alongside working in service for Achieving for Children. They will be taught to deliver evidence based guided self-help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The post holder will use their newly developed skills to support children and young people who are referred into the service and trainees will receive supervision to support their professional development.
The post holder will need to be ready to start work in early/mid-January 2027 and posts cannot be offered to candidates unless they can guarantee this start date.
Shortlisted candidates will also need to submit an application form to KCL for a place on the Diploma in Education Mental Health Practice. The application form details are attached/linked below and will need to be completed at the same time as your application for this post.

The Permanence Support Team is a specialist team providing post-order support to adopters, and their children, adults affected by adoption, and to birth families. - To support, organise and attend events and support groups across the Adopt Thames Valley region.
- To maintain the continuous development of our peer support offer.
- To assist the Team Managers, ensuring the highest standards of service are provided.
- To ensure that services to users are delivered and developed according to Adopt Thames Valley policies procedures and guidance.
- To ensure that services are planned and delivered in a way that maximises participation and reflects Childrens Rights in relation to services being provided and in the way that Children, Young People and Families are worked with.
About you
Are you a passionate, person with experience of adoption or events coordination? Are you interested in different ways of working in this field? We are ideally seeking an employee with an interest and drive to support families and children who have experienced adversity.The applicant will need to demonstrate that they have a good understanding of the needs of adoptive families, and that they are keen to develop their knowledge and skills further. The successful applicant also needs to be computer literate.Your office base may be subject to change as we are currently transitioning between temporary and permanent office locations due to the closure of County Hall. ATV launched in December 2017 and is the shared Adoption Service for Bracknell Forest, Oxfordshire, Reading Borough Council (Brighter Futures for Children), The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead (Achieving for Children), Swindon Borough Council, West Berkshire Borough Council and Wokingham Borough Council.
