Job summary
A substantive part time position has arisen within the Clinical Neurophysiology Department, situated within the Brunel Building at Southmead Hospital, for an experienced Band 3 Medical Secretary.
Working as part of this busy clinical team, your main duties will be to provide efficient and high quality administrative and clerical support to the Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologists and Physiologists within this team. This exciting opportunity involves working in close cooperation with these and other staff groups and medical professionals in this bespoke department in order to deliver outstanding diagnostic care. The role includes typing of clinical letters and reports, booking out-patient clinics and handling telephone calls and enquires, along with other general office duties.
The successful candidate will have an extensive secretarial background - ideally within the NHS and able to use Microsoft Office, along with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and a caring attitude, as well as the ability to work well within a team are essential. Knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
The Neurophysiology Medical Secretary plays a vital role in supporting the clinical team by managing patient communications, coordinating referrals and appointments, and ensuring the accurate preparation and distribution of clinical documentation. The role involves handling sensitive information with confidentiality, maintaining patient records, and using NHS systems to ensure smooth administrative operations. The secretary also provides a professional and compassionate reception service. Close collaboration with consultants, physiologists, and other departments is essential to maintain service efficiency and uphold high standards of patient care.

As an Imaging Support Worker, you will play an important role in helping patients feel welcomed, supported and cared for throughout their visit. Working alongside our multidisciplinary imaging teams, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality services across CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray and Nuclear Medicine.
You may work across one or more of our sites, including Southmead Hospital, Cossham Hospital, Yate Community Health Centre and Clevedon Community Hospital.
This is an entry-level Band 2 position with a supported development pathway to Band 3 following successful completion of the required competencies.

Main duties of the job
As part of our team, you will:
- Welcome and support patients before, during and after their examination or procedure.
- Provide reassurance and practical assistance to patients during their visit.
- Act as a chaperone when required.
- Help coordinate patient flow within the department to ensure services run smoothly and efficiently.
- Support reception, administrative and portering activities as required.
- Work closely with radiographers, radiologists, nurses and other colleagues to deliver an excellent patient experience.

Clinical:
Support registered radiology/nursing staff in the provision of essential care to patients by assisting patients whilst in the radiology department according to trust policy and procedures with:
- Acting as a chaperone whilst undergoing some examinations
- To assist in the Imaging rooms, giving explanations and reassurance
- Aiding dressing and undressing
- To be able to undertake reception duties when required

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Research Fellow to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at St Michael's Hospital, part of the Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.
The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the full shift on-call rota (2nd on call), including Obstetrics and Emergency Gynaecology cover, so the post is restricted to ST3+ only. Annual leave and study leave are covered prospectively. As a valued member of the team you will be included in the educational and training activities of the unit and encouraged to contribute to the teaching of nurses, midwives and other junior doctors.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will cover 28 hours clinical work per week at ST4+ level and will take part in the ST3-5 on call rota. The remaining sessions (20 hours per week) will be protected research sessions. This will give the appointee an exciting opportunity to complete a PhD thesis subject to satisfactory progress. The proposed research project is aimed at a trainee whose career aspiration lies in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the interface with Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
The project will build on work undertaken as part of the TULIPS (Treatment of Urinary tract (Lower) Infections in Pregnancy Screening) study and within the UTI in pregnancy research group. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to ongoing recruitment of participants to the UK Preterm Birth Network Cohort Research Programme sub-study 1 (Urine Study), and to develop a programme of studies relating to urinary pathology in pregnancy, working within the GW4 South West UTI Network.
There are multiple opportunities available for the successful candidate and these will be further discussed with the wider research team following appointment. The post will involve both clinical and non-clinical management roles, therefore we are interested in appointing a dynamic and motivated individual who has a high standard of communication skills.

Main duties of the job

Job summary
The department of Cellular Pathology are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, adaptable, and dedicated individual to provide an effective and efficient Medical Laboratory Assistant service within the Neuropathology laboratory at Southmead Hospital.
The post holder will play a key role in supporting the efficient operation of the Neuropathology laboratory by undertaking a range of laboratory support and maintenance activities. Neuropathology resides within the Cellular Pathology department, and the post may be required to work within Histology increasingly overtime. This post is not intended to support training towards qualification as a Biomedical Scientist.
This post will commence at a Band 2, with progression to a band 3 after 6 months upon review of competency progress.
Main duties of the job
- Participate in the receipt, identification, recording, storage, and disposal of specimens, identifying and resolving issues effectively.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join the Department of Immunology and Immunogenetics based at Southmead Hospital. The department is housed within a modern, purpose-built laboratory, and you will become part of a busy, supportive, and friendly team.
The Immunology Department at Bristol NHS Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive diagnostic service for the local community, serving a population of approximately 500,000, as well as a specialist referral service across the South West.
We are looking for a team player with excellent administrative, communication, computer, and practical skills to support our Specimen Reception team within Immunology.
Please note this role operates on a monthly rota covering shifts of: 7am-3pm, 9am-5pm and 12pm-8pm.Working hours and shift patterns may be subject to change to meet the operational needs of the laboratory.

Working under the direction of senior staff, you will support the day-to-day operation of the Immunology Laboratory. This is primarily a data entry role, with additional responsibilities relating to specimen processing and general laboratory support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Data input and administration of patient samples and test requests.
- Receiving, booking, and preparing clinical specimens for testing.
- Handling a range of clinical samples, including blood, urine, and faecal specimens.
- Prioritising and processing Faecal Immunochemical Tests (FIT).
- Carrying out pre-analytical sample processing, including faecal sample extraction.
- Supporting laboratory housekeeping activities, including cleaning and decontamination of equipment and work areas.
- Undertaking clerical tasks such as scanning, filing, and photocopying documentation.
- Supporting the Immunogenetics and Immunophenotyping teams with pre-analytical sample processing when required.
- Providing assistance across all areas of the laboratory as needed.
The successful candidate will be based primarily within the Immunochemistry section of the department, supporting faecal testing services.

Job summary
We are seeking one FULL TIME, PERMANENT, BAND 5 Orthoptist and one FULL TIME FIXED TERM BAND 5 ORTHOPTIST at the Bristol Eye Hospital. The successful applicants will join a highly motivated team of 15 Orthoptists and will gain invaluable experience in all aspects of Orthoptics. The post would be ideally suited to Orthoptists who are looking to expand their knowledge and skills at a large teaching hospital or would also be an excellent opportunity for newly qualified Orthoptists. We have an excellent preceptorship and mentoring programme, protected CPD time, inter departmental teaching and we actively encourage audit to improve our service. This is a tertiary referral , teaching and research hospital with strong links with the University of Bristol.
The post holder will be based at the Eye Hospital which is situated in the heart of the city of Bristol. The workload at the Eye Hospital will include specialist paediatric and paediatric neuro ophthalmology clinics, motility and adnexal clinics, adult neuro ophthalmology, stroke and brain injury assessments and on site adjustable suture assessments. We also run Orthoptic Led neuro ophthalmology clinics and Stroke Clinics , and we have an SEN speciality service including weekly functional vision clinics led by one of our Paediatric Ophthalmologists so there is plenty of scope to learn and develop your skills.
Main duties of the job
- To be an autonomous practitioner undertaking the investigation, diagnosis and management of patients referred to the Orthoptic Department at Bristol Eye Hospital. These include a wide range of complex cases from general and speciality clinics e.g. paediatric, motility, neurology, adnexal and A&E that are referred locally and from other centres in the South West of England.
- To make decisions on appropriate referral to the ophthalmologist for further investigations or surgery and to fast track them if clinically indicated.

Our ED Team are focused on the delivery of safe, high quality care, whilst putting the needs of our patients at the forefront of all that they do!
We're one of two designated Major Trauma Centers in the Southwest, working closely with a network of local unit trauma units to provide specialized trauma care & rehabilitation to patients with multiple serious injuries.
Our Emergency Zone is purpose-built to aid patient flow, transfer, and treatment, it comprises of our ED and Acute Medical unit.
The role includes working alongside nursing staff in all areas of the ED, as well as working both day and night shifts; subsequently the applicant must be flexible in order to meet the needs of our patients and the department.
The successful candidate should be enthusiastic about their on going development as you will be expected to become competent in extended roles such as plastering, trauma scribing and link roles.
Please note, this role does not currently meet the salary requirement for visa sponsorship. From the 9th April 2025, the minimum salary required for a Skilled Worker visa became £25,000 per year. While this role may be offered at a higher point on the pay scale depending on relevant NHS experience, most new starters are appointed at the bottom of the band, which does not meet the salary threshold.

A Senior Healthcare Support Worker is a core member of the team delivering direct care to patients and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate health care to people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan.

Job summary
The Older Persons Assessment Unit (OPAU) at Weston General Hospital is a 14 bedded unit. A medical assessment unit for patient's over 75. Patients are admitted to the unit from the Emergency Department and seen by consultants and other multidisciplinary teams patients are then either discharged home or transferred to a suitable long stay ward. We aim for length of stay to be no longer than 72 hours, therefore fast paced with a quick turnaround of patients.

We are looking for Rehabilitation Engineers, B6 or 7 depending on skills and experience to join our team here at Bristol Centre for Enablement, near Cribbs Causeway, Bristol. Part time hours or flexible working may be accepted.
We are a large team of clinical, support and admin staff and cover a large area of Bristol and Bath. We are a busy fast paced service, but with support from the team and opportunities for training and development.
Main duties of the job
Main duties are the prescription and supply of wheelchair accessories and special seating to clients referred to the service.
The work can involve the application of mechanical & bio-engineering knowledge and technical principles to assess, provide solutions and assume responsibility for the designing, fitting and adjusting of specialised adaptations to wheelchairs, specialist seating equipment and other associated equipment to meet the clinical requirements of patients, maximising their independence, functionality, quality of life and management of posture.
The post holder will provide assistance in leading technical and service developments within the Wheelchair and Special Seating Service.

Main duties of the job
As a Bank Theatre Practitioner, you will increase your skill set by working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver all aspects of patient care. Your main duties will include:

Want to try something different? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Mortuary team as a band 3 Mortuary Assistant. We are looking for someone with a compassionate approach to both the deceased and their bereaved loved ones. You will need an eye for detail, as well as a high standard of both written and verbal communication skills. You will be a team player who can quickly form good working relationships with key stakeholders both within and external to the NHS. The role will be based at Southmead Hospital but could be expected to work cross site (St Michael's Hospital). Main duties of the job
North Bristol NHS Trust provides a perinatal / paediatric post-mortem service for Southwest England and a body storage service for Southmead Hospital. As part of a small team of Mortuary staff, provide an effective and sensitive mortuary service to the North Bristol NHS Trust, completing work to a high standard and within expected time-frames in order to meet service demands. The service includes management and administration of hospital deaths, administration for post-mortems, preparing bodies for viewing and facilitating the provision of a limited number of medical procedures.
