Job summary
The aims of this service are to meet the emotional wellbeing needs of children and their families through advice and guidance, guided self-help, brief solution focused support in the community. We have the opportunity to extend the team to include 10 further trainee CWP places predominantly covering Milton Keynes with travel to Luton, Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire localities, with some virtual support.
These are training posts to provide support to children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The ideal candidates will have an undergraduate degree (psychology or similar) or be able to demonstrate academic ability to meet the requirements of the course, as well as some experience of working with children and young people up to the age of 18 with a range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties, either individually or in groups.
Post holders will be required to travel independently as needed within the community.
Applicants will need to be ready to start work in early/mid-January 2027and posts cannot be offered to candidates unless they can guarantee this start date.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be taught to deliver evidence based guided self-help interventions with children and young people or their parents/carers when the CYP is experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. They will also be taught how to deliver interventions in the community, for example participation activities, training and group delivery. Trainees will receive supervision to support their professional development.

CHUMS CIC Social Enterprise is an NHS Approved provider of clinical services to children and families. The service left the NHS in 2011 to become an independent Social Enterprise, affording the organisation more freedom to offer its services in a way that best suits the needs of the service users.
CHUMS is a Children and Young Peoples Psychological Therapy (CYP-PT) compliant service and has been successful in setting up an early intervention service which comprises of a large CYP-PT training hub. We have Family Wellbeing Teams in our BLMK wellbeing services.

This training role is within the CHUMS Community Wellbeing Services across BLMK increasing outreach and accessibility to provide timely early intervention. The post-holder will work within a psychologically lead mental health and wellbeing team comprising a range of professionals.
Trainees will be delivering, under supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions and guided self-help (group and 1:1) for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families within the community. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service.
The post holder will attend all university based teaching and onsite protected learning time required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed national curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.

Assess and deliver, under supervision, outcome focused, evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties within the community.
Working in partnership, support children, young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families in the self-management of presenting difficulties.
Work in partnership with children, young people and families in the development of plans for the intervention and agreed outcomes.
Support and empower children, young people and families to make informed choices about the intervention.
Regularly undertake the planning, delivery and implementation of participation activities in service and in the community.
On occasion, prepare and deliver training sessions to professional groups within service and in the community and evaluate the impact and outcomes of such training sessions.
Contribute to networking and building close working relationships with community groups and organisations to improve access to psychological support and enhance the overall impact of CWP role within the community.
Operate at all times from an inclusive values base, which recognises and respects diversity.
Accept referrals within agreed national and local protocols.

As well as attendance at the University for training, fulfil private study requirements to enhance learning and prepare assignments for examination.

Receive practice tutoring from educational providers in relation to course work to meet the required standards.

This government-funded initiative promotes the growth and skill of the child mental health workforce to meet much needed demand. NHSE covers salary and training costs for a 1-year position, allowing services to develop trainees to support specialist pathways to bridge the gaps in CYP mental health support.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your learning from weekly teaching into practical clinical interventions working with clients in an experienced organisation making a direct impact in the lives of children, young people and their families.

You will have a registerable professional qualification in a relevant subject with experience working with children, young people and their families in a mental health setting. Please note: The position will be part of the Milton Keynes Wellbeing service and will therefore require community working in Milton Keynes. The trainee will aslo expected to travel to London for teaching during the training year.
Main duties of the job
The PG Dip in CYP PT course starts in January 2027 and will be completed over 1 year. Students will study their modality (CBT) Modules alongside Core Skills Modules. Students will be required to attend university regularly each week. The remaining time in role will be spent working clinically within your service with children, young people with symptoms of anxiety or depression, their families, schools and wider systems.
The ideal candidates will have a background in a core profession or extensive experience as a CAMHS practitioner, as well as some experience of working with children and young people up to the age of 18 with a range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties, either individually or in groups.
Please note: The position will be part of the Milton Keynes Wellbeing service and will therefore require community working in Milton Keynes. The trainee will also be expected to travel to London for teaching during the training year.

The Children and Young Peoples Psychological Therapies (CYP-PT) is a service transformation programme that aims to improve existing children and young peoples mental health Services (CYP MHS) working in the community.
Job Purpose
This is an NHSE funded training post as part of the Child and Young Peoples (CYP) Psychological Therapies training programme which involves part time working as a Practitioner in the CHUMS Milton Keynes Wellbeing Service and part time studying with UCL/Anna Freud.
We are seeking highly motivated and clinically experienced candidates who are enthusiastic about making a difference to children and young peoples mental health through evidence-based interventions based on NICE Guideline recommended treatment. You will have a registerable professional qualification in a relevant subject with experience working with children, young people and their families in a mental health setting.
This intensive training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children and young people experiencing anxiety or low mood presentations consistent with the evidence base in the area of CBT. The post-holder will work in the service, for at least 2.5 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the training programme or undertaking self-study days for the remaining days, as required by the education provider.
You will be committed to the CYP Psychological Therapy 5 core principles and to providing accessible, compassionate and effective support for children and young people, along with a dedication to equity, diversity and inclusion.
The post holder will hold an appropriate training case load and complete the necessary assignments to meet the course requirements at the equivalent of an NHS band 6.

Assess clients for suitability for the treatment for which modality specific training is provided;

You will have a registerable professional qualification in a relevant subject with experience working with children, young people and their families in a mental health setting.
This intensive training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children and young people experiencing anxiety or low mood presentations consistent with the evidence base in the area of CBT. The post-holder will work in the service, for at least 2.5 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the training programme or undertaking self-study days for the remaining days, as required by the education provider.
You will be committed to the CYP Psychological Therapy 5 core principles and to providing accessible, compassionate and effective support for children and young people, along with a dedication to equity, diversity and inclusion.
The post holder will hold an appropriate training case load and complete the necessary assignments to meet the course requirements at the equivalent of an NHS band 6.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

CHUMS has an exciting opportunity for a CYP Psychological Therapies Autism and Learning Disability (ASC / LD) trainee placement as part of NHS England (NHSE) funding.This government-funded initiative promotes the growth and skill of the child mental health workforce to meet much needed demand. NHSE covers salary and training costs for a 1-year position, allowing services to develop trainees to support specialist pathways to bridge the gaps in CYP mental health support.
Main duties of the job
This is a unique opportunity to apply your learning from weekly teaching into practical clinical interventions working with clients in an experienced organisation making a direct impact in the lives of children, young people and their families.
Please note: The position will be part of the Milton Keynes Wellbeing service and will therefore require community working in Milton Keynes. The trainee will also expected to travel to London for teaching during the training year.
The PG Dip in CYP PT course starts in January 2027 and will be completed over 1 year.
Students will study their modality (ASC / LD) Modules alongside Core Skills Modules. Students will be required to attend university regularly each week. The remaining time in role will be spent working clinically within your service with children, young people with symptoms of anxiety or depression, their families, schools and wider systems.
The ideal candidates will have a background in a core profession or extensive experience as a CAMHS practitioner, as well as some experience of working with children and young people up to the age of 18 with a range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties, either individually or in groups.

- Worked in a service where agreed targets in place to demonstrating outcomes
- Demonstrates an appreciation of the range of factors that can impact on emotional well-being of children and young people with ASC and/or LD and their families.
- Demonstrates an appreciation of the MDT approach and involving other agencies, such as education and social care in order to ensure that the needs of children and young people with ASC and/or LD are well understood and effectively met.
Qualifications
Essential
- Evidence of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties
- A minimum of a second-class Bachelor's degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology)
- OR
- Applicants who do not fulfil the academic criteria but have relevant professional experience are still encouraged to apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- A registerable professional qualification in a relevant field with therapy experience (e.g. psychology, CWP, EMHP and low intensity therapies, nursing, health visiting, social work, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, special needs teaching, psychiatry, psychotherapy, counselling)

- Extra training related to neurodivergence
