Job summary

The Vale Medical Practice is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacy technician to join our expanding multidisciplinary team. This role is offered on a full-time basis of 37.5 hours per week, and will be based at both our Wootton and Shortstown sites.

Reporting to the senior clinical pharmacist and senior clinical pharmacy technician, you will play a key role in supporting medicines optimisation, medication safety, repeat prescribing systems and patient care within the practice multidisciplinary team.

Working closely with GPs, clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nurses, GP assistants and administrative colleagues, you will help ensure the safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines across our patient population.

The Trust has implemented electronic prescribing for SACT across the Trust, and at our outreach clinics and peripheral sites. Many of our pharmacists are working as non-medical prescribers with clinical teams in outpatient clinics. An objective this year is to further expand this pharmacist prescribing model, for both outpatient and inpatient services, particularly with the advent of newly registered pharmacists now qualified with independent prescriber status.The Pharmacy Department had the opportunity for the Christie hospital to successfully host Foundation year pharmacists for the very first time in 2025 in addition to supporting a number of ongoing and new collaborative projects alongside several research partners and has strong links with the University of Manchester. Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

As a Pharmacy Technician, your responsibilities will vary. You will

• Ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
• Ensuring timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
• Work together to make a difference to all the people we support, and make Practice Plus Group, a place where each of us feels appreciated, challenged and supported to do our best work fulfilling the lives of others.
• Communicate complex or sensitive information whilst demonstrating empathy and understanding to patients.

HMP Wealstun is a male prison that focuses on training and education. The pharmacy has it's own dispensary and consists of a full team of around 15 staff both permanent and bank.
