Job summary
We are looking for experienced professionally registered, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers or Occupational Therapists with a genuine passion for supporting those in mental health crisis, to complete the recruitment to our Connection team. We value all our team and offer a financial recruitment and retention premium on this post.
Connection is moving forward and this is an exciting time to join us for the next stages of our service development; increasing face to face community assessment work, and working collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure people in mental health crisis receive the right support, in the right place, at the right time.
Based at St Ann's Hospital, with a sea view from the office, Connection is Dorset's 24/7 open access mental health crisis service. Access Mental Health Dorset
This is a diverse role with new challenges each day: Direct clinical assessments, advice and support, supervise our fantastic mental health support workers, give clinical advice to other agencies and emergency services, co-ordinate urgent and emergency responses, and liaise with a range of internal and external services.
We are committed to professional development and support, offering internal and external training/education programmes and supervision.
Full and part time hours available. This is a 24/7 service with shift patterns including weekends, bank holidays and nights. All reasonable flexible working requests will be considered.
Main duties of the job
This role includes a £3,000 Recruitment Premium lump sum on commencement of employment and thereafter a further £1,500 Retention Premium per annum (pro-rata), paid in equal monthly instalments provided you remain in post and subject to review by the Trust.
Telephone and face to face mental health assessments, brief clinical interventions and support, signposting and referrals.
Validating, de-escalating crisis and coaching people in distress tolerance and emotional regulation strategies. Using a range of brief interventions, you will empower patients, carers and families to manage distress and crisis effectively.
As well as telephone based work the role also include opportunity to complete urgent face to face assessments across Dorset when indicated.
Providing clinical information, advice and support to other professionals and emergency services. Supporting police and ambulance service in accessing most appropriate support for those presenting in mental health crisis.
The team is part of the Trust Access Mental Health services and works closely with a range of other teams and services, including Home Treatment teams, Liaison Psychiatry and the Retreats. Overnight, Connection covers the Home Treatment Team caseload and manages any referrals.
Please note visa sponsorship for this role is unfortunately not available. Ensure you hold valid right to work in the UK and will not require sponsorship if successful.

This senior role will provide regional leadership, co-ordination, and standardisation of research governance processes across the North Midlands, directly addressing critical bottlenecks in commercial and non-commercial study set-up. This role will play a key part in supporting centres at different stages of research sponsorship development by strengthening their research governance, monitoring, auditing, and oversight frameworks. We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Research Governance Manager with extensive experience, particularly with experience of working across multiple sites/regionally.
This is your opportunity to take on a strategic leadership role within the UHNM Research and Innovation Directorate, playing a pivotal part in the delivery of a governance service, regionally, that leads to tangible improvements in patient-centred research.

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Spiritual Care Co-ordinator to join our compassionate team. This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week, based at our Hospice in Cambridge. We are happy to discuss working patterns at interview; however, the needs of the role require the successful candidate to work on Tuesdays.
As our Spiritual Care Co-ordinator, you will co-ordinate and provide spiritual, religious and pastoral care to patients, families, carers, volunteers and colleagues across our services. You will support patients approaching the end of life, undertake spiritual assessments and contribute to holistic care planning, helping us to respond sensitively to each persons individual religious, cultural and spiritual needs.
Main duties of the job
- Working as part of the PFST to facilitate reflective discussions and provide pastoral support.
- Co-ordinating volunteers and developing links with community organisations, including local faith groups.
- Facilitating prayers, blessings, rituals, memorial services and acts of worship when requested.
- Offering spiritual support to families and carers before and after a death.
- Arranging and conducting remembrance events, such as Light Up a Life and Sunflower Memories, as well as memorial services.
- Recruiting, training, supervising and supporting spiritual care and chaplaincy volunteers.
- Planning and delivering education and awareness sessions on spirituality, spiritual assessment, cultural competence, grief, bereavement and compassionate care.
To be successful in this role, you will have a good understanding of spirituality within palliative and end-of-life care, along with experience of providing spiritual, pastoral or chaplaincy support in a healthcare, hospice, community or faith setting.
You will hold a degree-level qualification in Theology, Religious Studies, Chaplaincy, Pastoral Care, Counselling, Healthcare, Social Care or a related field, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
You will also need experience of conducting significant life-event ceremonies, such as marriages, and of working within and co-ordinating multidisciplinary teams.
As the role involves travel within our hospice catchment area, you will need a valid driving licence.
About us
The Patient and Family Support Team (PFST) at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity provides practical and emotional support to patients and their families. This includes psychological and social support, spiritual care, counselling, and support both before and after bereavement.
There may occasionally be a need to work outside normal hours to support events. This will always be agreed in advance, and our time off in lieu (TOIL) system ensures that any additional hours are recognised.
Please note that this post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with Barred list checks included.
Please note that the salary quoted is based on full time hours and will be pro-ratad for part time posts. As a Charity with limited funds, it is usual practice for new starters to commence on the minimum of the salary band for the role. Exceptionally, and only for candidates demonstrating significant strengths relevant to the role, we may be able to negotiate on this.
We offer a range of benefits to our staff, including the option to retain membership to the NHS Pension scheme (subject to conditions.) Other benefits include:
- Generous annual leave entitlements
- Family friendly leave
- Access to lease car services
- Employee Assistance programmes
- Long Service Awards
- Discounts at our onsite bistro
- Access to free parking
- Ongoing training and development

Professional Development: Utilise Trust IT systems effectively and engage in ongoing training opportunities to continuously build your knowledge, skills, and expertise.
About us
We are Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust. We care for the mental health and wellbeing of people across Kent and Medway and are rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Because we work across the whole county and across hospital and community settings, we can make care more joined up and easier to access for the people we serve.
Our vision is simple: we are here to help communities not just live with mental illness, but live well. It's why we're passionate about working with communities to make mental health care better for everyone. Everything we do is guided by our values: caring, inclusive, curious and confident.
