Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dedicated Theatre Team as a Theatre Support Worker.
We are looking for motivated, caring and enthusiastic individuals who are committed to providing high-quality patient care within a busy and dynamic operating theatre environment.
We currently have two vacancies available:
- 1 Full-Time post (37.5 hours per week)
- 1 Part-Time post (hours to be discussed at interview)
Please indicate within your application whether you wish to be considered for the full-time position, part-time position, or both.

We are looking for individuals who are caring, reliable and adaptable, with excellent communication skills and a positive approach to teamwork. In return, you will join a welcoming team committed to supporting your development and providing opportunities to grow your career within the NHS.
If you are passionate about patient care, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and want to make a real difference to patients and their families, we would love to hear from you.

- Acute Medicine
- ICU/Cardio-Respiratory/General Surgery

We have a strong positive relationship with our community partners enabling us to work closely together.
You will receive protected time for supervision, training and skill development opportunities within each specialism provided by supportive clinicians and also opportunities to build on skills such as student/junior supervision, audits and service development projects.Individual support is high on our agenda, and we are an inclusive department, experienced to support specific needs.

You will be responsible for non-clinical duties, including participating in team meetings, in-service development, training and supervision of students, assistant staff and Band 5 colleagues. You will be key to being actively involved in the measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices through the use of Evidence Based Practice projects, audit and outcome measures. We have a strong reputation for home grown career progression through welcoming every new team member and supporting them to settle, develop, and grow.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 you will be responsible for your own complex caseload consisting of patients with a variety of different cardio-respiratory and surgical conditions whilst supporting junior members of the team. Good prioritisation, organisational and time management skills will be needed to balance clinical and non-clinical duties.
You will be responsible for ensuring the use of advanced effective assessment skills to identify appropriate patients and to formulate, implement and evaluate individualised treatment plans, some of which will be specialist in nature, based on expert analytical and clinical reasoning skills. You will need advanced communication skills to ensure a successful multidisciplinary approach to patient care and will be in regular discussions with patients, carers, James Paget University Hospital colleagues, community partners etc. on treatment plans and future care.
There will be opportunities to work on group projects with your Band 6 peers. Recent projects have included developing the Therapy Assistant Practitioner competencies and improving the palliative care service.
