The component development laboratory performs a wide range of research and development projects to improve the quality and safety of blood components for transfusion.
You will benefit from the opportunity of working in an internationally recognised laboratory performing a wide range of research and development projects to improve the quality and safety of blood components for transfusion.
You will have the opportunity to conduct research and development and manage a team of scientists engaged in controlled investigations of blood component quality. You will have the opportunity to initiate, plan and direct such investigations, to supervise the analysis and interpretation of results, and to ensure their accurate and timely dissemination in journals and reports.
In this way, you will contribute to developing and providing a high-quality service, in line with our core purpose of saving and improving patients lives.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will be collating, analysing, and interpreting highly complex scientific data from own components development work, that of other scientists in CDL, and from manufacturers or other external sources. Your responsibilities include:
1. Preparing and disseminating scientific papers containing highly complex information for external publication.
2. Presenting findings of own components development work to others including oral presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.
3. Preparing, selecting, and using appropriate controls to ensure validity of components development results.
4. Being responsible for research projects within the department, working with and to the Laboratory Manager.

Urgent Community Response is a joint Health and Social Care Service providing support to people in their own homes in times of crisis, to avoid unnecessary admissions to hospital and facilitate discharges home from hospital.
The service provides care over 7 days a week 365 days a year, with shift patterns covering the hours from 07:30 hours until 22:00 hours. The service provides care across Sidmouth, Seaton, Axminster and outlying areas and you will be part of a team providing a quality service promoting independence, dignity and support. This service aims to avoid unplanned hospital admission for people who could safely be maintained and supported at home, as well as enabling people to return to their home as quickly as possible from hospital.
Previous community experience is desired but not essential as the teams will give you the support and guidance you need to excel. You will join a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, working with Health and Social Care Teams to respond to urgent situations, to enable people to stay in their own homes or ensure a timely discharge from Acute and Community Hospitals.
You will be provided with a comprehensive induction programme which will include support to complete the National Care Certificate.
Successful candidates will have a Level 3 Diploma / NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent or have equivalent experience of working with older people in a community setting. You will also need to be competent with IT as electronic recording is an essential part of the role. As this is a community based position, a driving license is essential as is access to a vehicle.
Urgent Community Response Support Workers are lone workers within the community, although support is always available.

Working Pattern: 30 hours per week. We care for our patients around the clock so we will need you to work a range of shift patterns. This is an excellent opportunity to train for a career as a Registered Pharmacy Technician. You will study for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians whilst you work on an Apprenticeship program, gaining experience in the various areas of pharmacy within the Hospital. Our NHS 111 Call Handlers (Health Advisors) are people just like you: people who have come to us from all walks of life, from different backgrounds and age groups, people who all have the same things in common.

The 111 service receive a huge variety of calls which means no two days are ever the same.

Main duties of the job
The role of a SECAmb Call Handler
When you ring 111 or 999, your call goes through to a call handler based in one of our 3 Emergency Operation/Contact Centres. These staff are trained to use the NHS Pathways system to provide assistance in a variety of situations, from minor illness to life threatening situations. The assistance you will provide will range from offering lifesaving advice whilst an ambulance is on route, to directing callers to other more suitable services.
This role can be demanding, challenging and ultimately very rewarding however, it's not for everyone. Applicants will need to have a range of skills to be able to deal with often stressful and emotional situations, whilst also demonstrating compassion and empathy to all callers, no matter what the situation.
As we are a 24/7 service, this role will involve working a varied shift pattern including earlies, lates and weekends but due to our flexible working, we will work with you to create a rota that gives you a great work/life balance whilst meeting the needs of the trust.
Please note that it is a requirement to work 3 out of 4 weekends, even if you are applying for a part time position.Please give this consideration before making your application.

Training Provided
We will provide full training in a warm, friendly environment in our NHS 111 Call Centre.
Our comprehensive training programme:
- 9 weeks training
- Training will be full-time (even for part-time applicants)

- Comprises of classroom, observing and mentoring periods within the working environment

Job summary
Applicants are invited to apply for a Consultant Radiologist post with a specialist interest in paediatric Imaging. The post is for 10PAs. The post has arisen to reconfiguration of the existing team of 5 paediatric radiologists.
The post will be based at St Marys Hospital which is a centre for paediatric infectious disease, paediatric haematology and oncology (Level 2). There is a large bone marrow transplant unit, a busy general paediatric department and an established PICU. There are two neonatal units across the two sites (St Mary's hospital & Queen Charlottes Hospital) with two dedicated NICUs. St Mary's Hospital is the paediatric trauma centre for north west London. There is a paediatric surgery service in combination with Chelsea NHS trust. The imaging department supports busy A&E departments, UCC centres and general practitioners.
The successful candidate will have completed formal training in radiology and will have experience in paediatric radiology.
An interest in training and research is strongly encouraged in accordance with the strategic aims of the Academic Health Sciences Centre.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate's clinical work will involve reporting paediatric plain radiographs and cross-sectional imaging, performing paediatric ultrasound and fluoroscopy and attending paediatric MDT meetings. The candidate will be fully supported by the existing paediatric radiology team.
Close collaboration with the paediatric radiology team and clinicians in the management of patients will be paramount.
The appointee will contribute to the general work in the department, including duty "hot desk" reporting and general CT reporting.
A strong interest in teaching and training will be welcomed to support the radiology training scheme, sonographers and reporting radiographers. There will be ample opportunities for audit and research projects in line with the candidate's interests.
The post will be mainly based at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington and Queen Charlotte's Hospital, Hammersmith.

Site Assistants are responsible for providing porter services to facilitate the movement of patients and goods around the organisation that enable all clinical and non-clinical staff to fulfil their function in a safe and effective way so far is reasonably practical.
There may be an occasional requirement for the facilitation of patient movement, via beds, trolleys and wheelchairs to x-ray and other wards.
The removal of all waste materials from Livewell wards, units & sites.
The movement of sundry items that include but not limited to medical gas, patient notes, beds, hospital equipment and office equipment which is required to be secure in order for safe transportation to minimise risk.
To receive delivery of medical gas cylinders and store securely in accordance with HTM O2-O1. Handled with care by those who have received appropriate training and understand the hazards involved.
Staff will be trained in the potential hazards and dangers of medical gas cylinders, safe handling of gas cylinders, emergency procedures and the use of fire fighting appliances.
Collect soiled linen to collection point.
Clean linen to store cupboards.
Internal postal delivery and collection services, including sending external post via Royal Mail, delivery of parcels etc.

To collect and deliver clean and soiled laundry bags and linen and store in correct facilities.

Report faults in equipment and the fabric of the building, record and log fault and monitor to ensure work is completed.
Assist in the moving of equipment.
Assist with moving patients to X-ray, Minor Injuries Unit, Physio Department and other services as and when required.
Deliver and connect medical gases to departments when required (as per policy).

A good level of physical skill is required for the safe and effective use of hand tools, and maintenance equipment. The role requires coordination, manual dexterity and the ability to undertake a range of general maintenance tasks safely. The post holder must be able to work in confined or potentially hazardous environments and demonstrate competent driving skills when travelling between sites on a daily basis.
Take special precaution with tools and equipment in buildings designated for mental health to ensure that a patient cannot come into contact with anything that has the potential to cause harm.

Site Assistants are responsible for providing porter services to facilitate the movement of patients and goods around the organisation that enable all clinical and non-clinical staff to fulfil their function in a safe and effective way so far is reasonably practical.
There may be an occasional requirement for the facilitation of patient movement, via beds, trolleys and wheelchairs to x-ray and other wards.
The removal of all waste materials from Livewell wards, units & sites.
The movement of sundry items that include but not limited to medical gas, patient notes, beds, hospital equipment and office equipment which is required to be secure in order for safe transportation to minimise risk.
To receive delivery of medical gas cylinders and store securely in accordance with HTM O2-O1. Handled with care by those who have received appropriate training and understand the hazards involved.
Staff will be trained in the potential hazards and dangers of medical gas cylinders, safe handling of gas cylinders, emergency procedures and the use of fire fighting appliances.
Collect soiled linen to collection point.
Clean linen to store cupboards.
Internal postal delivery and collection services, including sending external post via Royal Mail, delivery of parcels etc.
External courier service delivering and collecting mail from all Livewell sites.
Delivery of catering from Mount Gould Hospital CPU to wards, external sites (i.e. buffets).
Support the induction of new starters.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Mount Gould, Cumberland & Glenbourne Site Assistant Duties
To deliver catering supplies to all departments.
Remove all waste and safely dispose in allocated bin areas ensuring bin area is clean and tidy. Bins must be locked at all time. To safely move full bins to storage area when required and replace with empty bins. To empty and dispose of contents of external bin receptacles and replace with new bin bag daily.
To collect and deliver clean and soiled laundry bags and linen and store in correct facilities.
To store C.S.S.D. bags and laboratory specimens in appropriate area to await collection.
Report faults in equipment and the fabric of the building, record and log fault and monitor to ensure work is completed.
Assist in the moving of equipment.
Assist with moving patients to X-ray, Minor Injuries Unit, Physio Department and other services as and when required.
Deliver and connect medical gases to departments when required (as per policy).
Deliver, collect and sort all mail & parcels from departments & units and frank external post.
Collect and deliver patient medical notes directly to individual departments.
Responsible for receiving all stores & goods including stationery and distributing to all departments & units on a weekly basis or as and when delivered.
Ensure the safe delivery from Pharmacy of all medication to a person in charge in the correct department or unit.
Ensure the safe collection of all specimens by Pharmacy.
To maintain cleanliness and carry out routine checks on site assistant vehicles as per instructions from Transport Department.
Replenish all domestic store cupboards with stock for cleaning. Replenish all dispensers with paper products, soap and cleaning solutions.

Take special precaution with tools and equipment in buildings designated for mental health to ensure that a patient cannot come into contact with anything that has the potential to cause harm.

We have an exciting opportunity for two registered mental health nurses to join our Early Days in Custody Team (EDiC) at HMP Swaleside.
The EDiC team will act with the following principles:
Holistic - the EDiC team is multi-disciplinary, drawing on expertise from the other teams within healthcare to provide a knowledgeable and skilled service with the ability to draw upon specialist input rapidly when needed.
Curious - the EDiC team will engage with patients with clinical curiosity - drawing on all the information available to them to understand patient needs. The team will engage where possible with patients' families/carers to fully understand patient's needs and assist in helping maintain family relationships.
Prioritising Safety - Keep prisoners safe by identifying and addressing immediate risks for that patient including self-harm, risk of death by suicide, and unmanaged substance misuse dependencies.

Main duties of the job
As a EDiC Practitioner you will:
- Ensure that new prisoners are supported during their first 14 days in the prison to access relevant healthcare offers and manage their general health and wellbeing whilst in prison.
- Identify the wider needs of patients, through the completion of a comprehensive assessment and working in partnership with them to co-produce a written care plan that addresses their health and social care needs.
- The role will include covering some work for the mental health in-reach team. For example:
- Care planning
- Caseload reviews
- Administer antipsychotic depot medication.
- Collect and synthesize all relevant clinical history to ensure safety, continuity of care and minimal re-assessments for the patient and ensuring that the records held for patients are up to date and accurate.
- Ensure ongoing care for every person requiring it, with clear pathway management in place that is understood by the patient and their families /significant others.
- Information is shared where appropriate and consent has been given to ensure that care plans and risks for patients are widely understood by all staff supporting them, including HMPPS staff where appropriate. This will be done with full patient consent.
