Job summary
The role of the Health Care Assistant is extremely varied and requires quick thinking, the ability to put patients quickly at ease, working within set appointment times and working to set protocols. It is important that the post holder is able to remain calm under pressure, is efficient, organised and can be considered by patients and colleagues as friendly, caring and approachable.
For this post, we are ideally looking to appoint someone who already has experience of working as a HCA in a GP surgery and/or Hospital setting.
Hours and days of work: 27hrs per week. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
Main duties of the job
Depending upon the existing skills and experience of the most suitable candidate, the role will include aspects of the following:
- Urinalysis, Phlebotomy and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory
- Undertaking health checks for patients with long term conditions and to gather data: e.g. NHS Health Checks, QoF data capturing.
- Measuring and recording following physiological measurements in routine presentations: - blood pressure - pulse rate and rhythm - height and weight - body mass index - venepuncture - nebulisation therapy - ECG - peak flow reading - spirometry (training will be given) - chaperoning - basic wound care - blood sugar readings - assisting Minor Surgery/IUCDs

Sherburn Group Practice is a fast-growing and forward-thinking practice caring for 11,000 patients. Applicants will work as part of our nursing team (Nurse Manager, ACP, three qualified nurses delivering care to long-term condition patients, two treatment room nurses, one HCA and one phlebotomist and a Care Co-Ordinator to support the team). We work in brand new facilities in our purpose-built surgery in the heart of Sherburn in Elmet. At our last inspection we were rated "Good" in all areas by CQC. Sherburn Group Practice forms one of the three practices within the Tadcaster and Selby Rural PCN Ltd.

Sherburn Group Practice is an award-winning Hull York Medical School teaching practice. We are looking for an experienced ACP to join our friendly and supportive team. Job summary
Sherburn Group Practice is an award-winning Hull York Medical School teaching practice. We are looking for an experienced ACP to join our friendly and supportive team. You will provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for patients with acute, chronic and complex needs - primarily (but not exclusively) for patients who reside in residential or nursing homes or who are housebound.
