Job summary
Are you friendly, organised and confident dealing with people in a busy environment?
Manor & Park Group Practice is looking for a reliable and approachable GP Receptionist to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of our practice. You will be one of the first points of contact for our patients, helping them access the right service, supporting our clinical team and helping the practice run smoothly day to day.
The role is worked over four days each week Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with Wednesdays off.
Previous reception, customer service or healthcare experience would be an advantage, but GP or NHS experience is not essential as full training will be provided.
If you are calm under pressure, enjoy helping people and want to develop your experience within a supportive NHS primary care team, we would love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
The GP Receptionist will provide a friendly, professional and efficient front-line service to patients while supporting the wider clinical and administrative team.
Main duties will include answering patient telephone calls, welcoming patients at reception, managing appointment requests, supporting online triage through Accurx, taking and passing on messages, processing repeat prescription requests and managing practice emails and correspondence.
The postholder will also help maintain accurate appointment and administrative systems, provide support to clinicians and colleagues, and assist with cover during periods of annual leave and sickness.
The role requires excellent communication, confidentiality, good organisation and the ability to remain calm and helpful in a busy environment. The successful applicant will work across both practice sites and play an important part in ensuring patients receive a responsive and professional service.
About us
Manor & Park Group Practice is an established GP Training Practice operating across two sites in central Sheffield and caring for approximately 8,000 patients.
We have a friendly and experienced multidisciplinary team including GPs, GP Registrars, advanced practitioners, nurses, healthcare professionals, pharmacists and administrative colleagues.
Our reception team is a vital part of the practice and works closely with clinicians and managers to help patients access the right care and keep our services running smoothly.
We are a busy practice, but we place a strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, professionalism and supporting one another. We are always looking for ways to improve how we work and the experience we provide for our patients.
We offer a supportive working environment, full training for the role, 6 weeks annual leave, access to the NHS Pension Scheme subject to eligibility, and opportunities to develop your skills and experience within primary care.
