Job summary
To provide highly specialist, client-centred Speech and Language Therapy assessment, intervention, and advice to adults with acquired brain injuries within a community setting. The post holder will primarily work with individuals in their own home and local community environments, supporting individuals with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties as a result of an acquired brain injury.
Main duties of the job
To work as an integral member of the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Interdisciplinary Team, contributing Speech and Language Therapy expertise to develop shared rehabilitation goals that incorporate Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Psychology.
To provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy advice, training and support to carers, family members.
To collaborate, provide advice and training to other SALT's within NCIC.
To act as a specialist resource within North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust by providing expert opinion and highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy advice to ABI inter-disciplinary team members, patients, family members, care workers, a wide range of professionals, and to other Speech and Language Therapists working within the trust.

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team as a Specialist Learning Disability Occupational Therapist (Band 6) within Powys Teaching Health Board.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide specialist assessment and intervention for people with complex physical, functional and occupational needs across a variety of community settings.
You will manage a diverse caseload working with people who have a learning disability as well as working closely with their families, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues to support people to achieve their goals, maximise independence and improve quality of life.
Whilst previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist within Learning Disabilities is desirable, this is not essential. The successful candidate will be supported to learn and develop by the OT Clinical Lead in Learning Disabilities and there will be with support available from the wider MDT.
This service operates weekdays only.
Main duties of the job
- Manage a caseload of patients with complex health and functional needs, carrying out comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and delivering evidence-based, person-centred interventions.
- Develop, implement and evaluate treatment plans to maximise independence, participation in meaningful occupations and quality of life.
- Provide specialist advice on equipment, moving and handling, environmental adaptations, housing needs, seating, postural management and strategies to support daily living.
- Work collaboratively with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate care.
- Deliver services across a range of community settings, including patients' homes, community hospitals, schools and other appropriate locations.
- Use clinical reasoning and risk assessment skills to support decision-making for patients with complex needs, including those with sensory needs and behaviours that challenge.

We are pleased to offer an opportunity to join our Integrated Therapy Team at the James Paget University Hospital, consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, assistant practitioners and support workers, all working seamlessly together.Our diverse Band 5 rotations are:
Stroke
Frailty Assessment Unit/Older People's Medicine
Acute Medicine
Cardiology/Respiratory/Surgery
Early Intervention Team
Orthopaedics
Paediatrics
Rotations are six months long, giving you time to develop and embed new skills using our comprehensive Preceptorship programme as part of your ongoing development.
We offer excellent supervision, training and skill development opportunities within each specialism provided by supportive clinicians and opportunities to gain skills such as student supervision, audits and service development projects.
We have a strong reputation for home grown career progression through supportive development with a focus on equality, diversity and belonging. We are large enough to offer a number of rotational experiences but small enough to be able to respond quickly in delivering services in response to patient needs.
Onsite parking is available, and car shares are possible.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Rotational Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for your own caseload, working within a fast paced and energetic environment. You will need good organisational and time management skills to prioritise and manage your caseload efficiently and effectively.
You will be responsible for ensuring the use of effective assessment skills to identify, formulate, implement and evaluate individualised treatment plans based on analytical and clinical reasoning skills. Assessments primarily take place in hospital or in patients' own homes and will include a holistic approach considering cognitive, functional and social aspects of each individual's life.
You will need to have effective communication skills to ensure a successful multidisciplinary approach to patient care. You will also need to be able to demonstrate management of barriers to communication such as loss of hearing, expressive and receptive dysphasia, pain and fear, be able to motivate patients to maximise their potential whether it being around rehabilitation or planning safe and effective discharges.
You will also have non-clinical duties such as attending and being an active member of team meetings and peer support groups, partake in service development ideas, training and supervision of students and therapy assistant practitioners.
