Job summary
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust is advertising an exciting opportunity within the Ophthalmology service for a permanent Specialist Doctor in Ophthalmology with special interest in paediatric Ophthalmology. The successful applicant will also provide a general ophthalmology service and will be based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) but will also be required to work cross-site at Princess Royal Hospital (PRH). The timetable will include a variety of outpatient clinic sessions as well as theatre sessions and on-call. The department currently have 10 substantive consultants.
Main duties of the job
Main Clinical Duties include:
- Provide Ophthalmic services, with sub-specialist interest in paediatric ophthalmology.
- Complete clinical sessions in theatre, specialist and general clinics.
- Support the eye department 24-hour cover for emergencies as part of the 1in8 non-resident on-call rota.
- To provide support for ROP Screening Service.
- To support with the triaging of referrals received for the Paediatric Ophthalmology Service.
- Complete supporting professional activities, such as RSTA time including research and audit.
- To develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
- To have excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team.
- To deliver clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.
- To follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.

Job responsibilities
A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, on behalf of the Medical Director within 3 months of starting in post. A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week. The job plan will be reviewed annually and is a prospective agreement that sets out the specialist's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. It covers all aspects of a specialists professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external and will include personal objectives, detailing links to wider service improvements and trust strategic priorities.
For a full-time contract, the job plan will be divided on average per week (pro-rata for a part time post) as:
- 9 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care - includes clinical activity, clinically related activity and predictable and unpredictable emergency work.
- 1 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) - includes CPD, audit, teaching and research.
- Additional Programmed Activities (APAs) additional sessions can be included with formal agreement between the successful applicant and their clinical director.
The allocation of PAs is reviewed and may be subject to adjustment when a further diary exercise is undertaken or if the service demands a review of the team job plan.
Any applicant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with other consultant colleagues.

Job Summary

In this vital frontline role, you'll be part of a dedicated team handling clinical specimens playing a key part in the smooth operation of our fast-paced and essential pathology service. No two days are the same, and your work will directly contribute to the timely diagnosis and treatment of patients across the hospital.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to
- Receive and dispatch samples to appropriate laboratories.
- Sort and label specimens for blood sciences
- Undertake accurate and precise data entry on laboratory computer system which requires frequent periods of concentration.
- Maintain, process and distribute orders of consumables for GP surgeries
- File and distribute patient reports.
- Organisation of personal workload
- Handle telephone enquiries from service users and where required communicate test results which may be of a complex and/or sensitive nature.
- Participate in mentoring guidance and training of inexperienced/new staff when required.
- Effectively communicate with laboratory and medical staff to ensure that specimens are dealt with appropriately and in a timely fashion.

The Countermeasures Development and Evaluation Centre is based at Porton and has approximately 250 staff, performing a range of research activities, including high containment level work. The department's work covers a broad range of projects involving vaccine and therapeutic, discovery, evaluation, development, and research.
The Discovery team sits in the Countermeasures Development, Evaluation and Preparedness Division in the Public Health Microbiology Directorate within the Chief Scientific Officer Group. Its work focuses on the establishment of host-relevant microbial models, evaluation of antimicrobial therapies directed at UKHSA priority pathogens, and development of molecular and immunological methods for characterising pathogen responses and host-pathogen interaction. - Carry out studies to develop functional mucosal immune assays using flow cytometry
- Analyse biological data and develop new tools to perform those analyses e.g., large flow cytometry data sets

Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Principal Audiologist to Lead the Adult Hearing Rehabilitation and Therapy Services at Guy's Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post holder works within the Audiology Department and within the sub-modality of Adult Rehabilitation within the Adult Audiology Centre. The Adult Audiology Centre provides a comprehensive auditory rehabilitation service to patients above 16 years of ages and supports St Thomas' Hearing Implant Centre. The Adult Rehabilitation service has purpose-built and fully-equipped facilities delivering a full range of air and bone conduction hearing instruments.
The main purpose of this role is to be a clinical expert and audiology lead for Adult Rehabilitation and Therapy services. To lead in the delivery of a patient centered and evidence based service that provides a high standard of care to patients and their families / carers. To ensure the service meets and exceeds the requirements of the Any Qualified Provider specification and obtains and maintains UKAS IQIPS accreditation. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the service to include line management of staff and the promotion of the service at local, regional, national and international meetings and conferences. The post holder will also work in a team of senior staff and together with the Head of Audiology will ensure senior management support is provided across all areas of Audiology.

Job summary
Due to investment and development in our new Community Response Hubs we are looking to recruit a full time Community NurseBand 6, Clinical Lead working 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 8am - 8pm.
Based in Ellesmere Port visiting the patients of the Ellesmere Port and Neston areas. Travel is an important part of this role. Access to a car for work purposes is essential.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a clinical resource, providing a visible clinical profile, having advisory, leadership and clinical oversight of the caseload.
The team focus is on prevention of unnecessary acute hospital admission, End of Life Care and Facilitating discharge from hospital.
By working collaboratively with the wider healthcare team we ensure person centred care for those patients whose preferred place of care is at home.
A high level of communication is essential for the role, with Team work at the core of our practice.
