Job summary
As a key member of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Team, the post holder will monitor patient pathway progress and support the achievement National targets.
The post holder will act as the focal point for the multidisciplinary team and will be an essential and integral part in the smooth running, administration and organisation of the MDT's within the Gastroenterology and Hepatology service. This is a unique administration role that requires flexibility, attention to detail, initiative and excellent communication skills.
Main duties of the job
1.Facilitate data collection for patients referred to the: Autoimmune MDT, IgG4 MDT, IBD MDT, Histology Meeting, Nutrition MDT, X-Ray meeting and enter the information onto appropriate database(s)
2.Provide information to support achievement of the national waiting times targets.
3.Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Junior doctors within the Gastro and Hepatology Team.

- At the MDT meeting complete a live detailed proforma or detailed summary for patient discussed. Keyboard skills are essential
- To log actions of meetings and be responsible for ensuring that such actions have been carried out.
- To ensure that outcomes of MDTs (management and treatment plans) are filed in the patients notes.
- To work with the MDT members to ensure that appropriate action follows the MDT and that general practitioner are advised of decisions.
- Ensure all discussions about each individual patients management and the attendance of MDT members are recorded.
- To provide cross cover for other team members during periods of planned leave, sickness, absence or as requested by the Team Leader.
- Review and despatch of clinical, administrative and general correspondence by digital transcription.
- Ensuring that clinic letters are sent out promptly to General Practitioners.
- Provide administrative support to consultants, clinical staff and all patients under their care, including diary administration, correspondence support and other administrative duties as required.
- Ensuring investigations have been requested and tracking results with hospital notes to ensure appropriate action is carried out in a timely manner.
- Proactively manage patient pathways on Electronic Patient Record (EPR) to ensure patient is on correct pathway and discharged when appropriate.
- Use of Clinical Intranet for obtaining results as appropriate.
- Use of EPR to search and amend patient records. Use of EPR to check appointments booked for patients as requested.
- To ensure the units GP advice line is being actioned and to ensure charges are correctly processed.
- Receiving telephone calls and emails from patients, General Practitioners and any other general enquiries and responding in a timely manner.
- Oversight of booking patients via telephone and updating the required systems.
- Close liaison with Endoscopy Department to maintain smooth running of endoscopy sessions and to keep department informed of any known changes to forthcoming sessions. When requested organising and setting up of extra sessions and liaising closely with endoscopy staff, appointments staff and patients.
- General secretarial duties including but not restricted to collating etc and any other duties as requested by the Admin Manager, Service Manager or Doctors.
- Work closely with all staff in the service to ensure compliance with 18 week referral to treatment (RTT) targets, escalating and intervening where necessary to expedite appointments and procedures to avoid breaches.
- Update patient details on EPR and other Trust and departmental record systems as necessary, including updating GP and Patient addresses.

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Scientist within the Department of Chemical Pathology and Metabolic Diseases, based at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
The applicant will contribute to service delivery in all sections of the laboratory. The Department has an established Blood Sciences Laboratory with full implementation of a Blood Sciences solution from Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics and is one of the largest integrated laboratories of its kind in the country covering the three acute hospital sites in Leicester.

Main duties of the job

Job summary
The NHS Mycology Reference Centre, Manchester offers a highly specialised diagnostic service primarily serving Manchester, the north of England and Scotland but also receives daily referrals from throughout the UK and beyond.
We are continuing to expand and now have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and hard-working HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join our well-established and friendly team, working within a modern, well equipped, fully UKAS ISO15189 accredited laboratory.
This post is full-time, working 37.5 hours per week, 08:30 - 17:00 Monday to Friday.
To apply, you must be HCPC accredited as a Biomedical Scientist, with experience working in a Clinical Microbiology/Mycology laboratory.
As a practical test is an important part of the interview process, interviews will take place face-to-face.
Main duties of the job
- To assist the Head of Service in providing a comprehensive scientific service (analytical and interpretative) by the Mycology Reference Centre to nationally accepted standards
- To deliver a broad range of complex, specialised and non-routine scientific work requiring skilled performance with a high level of individual responsibility
- To maintain a high standard of work and contribute to developing the service of the laboratory so that service delivery is safe, effective, and economical and follows best practice according to ISO15189 standard

Job summary
The Cellular Pathology Department at ESHT is looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic 'Band 5 Biomedical Scientist' to join our busy, yet friendly department.
The department is UKAS accredited and IBMS approved for training. We currently process approximately 31,000 histology and 2000 diagnostic cytology samples per annum. The main Histology Department is based at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings with a satellite site based at Eastbourne. Both sites are modern, well equipped and form part of a Managed Service Contract. The department is fully live with digital reporting for Histopathology.
The successful applicant would ideally be HCPC registered and have recent working experience in a routine Cellular Pathology laboratory. We would however welcome applicants who are completing their accredited Biomedical Science degree and/or registration portfolio.
We are searching for an individual who is professional, pro-active, innovative, and able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and manual dexterity skills. It is essential to demonstrate a patient focused approach to work and be committed to continual improvement of self, the service and the team.
The post holder will be required to perform a range of routine laboratory activities under the supervision of the Senior Biomedical Scientists or Lead Biomedical Scientist. You should have knowledge of the requirements for maintaining a quality service and adherence to ISO 15189:2012/2022.
Main duties of the job
As a Biomedical Scientist in the Cellular Pathology department at ESHT you'll have experience of working as a Biomedical Scientist within Histopathology, the main duties will include embedding and microtomy along with quality control steps in line with ISO 15189 standards. You will rotate through the roles in the department, providing scientific services to patients and customers to aid pathological diagnosis. You'll assist in workflow management, management of documentation, and general overall performance. You'll also play a vital role in the training and development of junior scientific staff.
We support and encourage our Biomedical Scientists to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, which could be internal talks and seminars, as well as attending approved courses. We have a dedicated Training officer within our department. The department has full HCPC training status for pre and post registration IBMS portfolios, and full ISO 15189 accreditation.

The successful candidate will responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient decontamination of flexible endoscopes. Main duties of the job
- To maintain and protect confidential information relating to patients.
- To establish and maintain good working relationships with members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Maintain a clean environment throughout the Gastroenterology Unit.
- Ensure that all endoscopy equipment being used is decontaminated in accordance with national, local and manufacturer's guidelines andreport any faults immediately.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Work independently at an advanced level across a range of radiopharmaceutical operations and quality assurance procedures.
- Sub-dispense and administer radiopharmaceuticals and non-radioactive drugs in line with departmental guidelines.
- Perform advanced nuclear medicine diagnostic and non-imaging procedures, includingSPECT/CT.

Main duties of the job
To provide basic radiation protection advice to patients and carers with respect to the investigation being performed. To refer to senior staff or appointed Radiation Protection Advisor for more detailed radiation protection advice where necessary.
To gain intravenous access as necessary for the individual investigation in accordance with departmental procedures. To be capable of doing so in adult patients presenting with a range of clinical conditions.
To administer pharmaceuticals using other access routes, for example by subcutaneous or oral routes where required by individual examination protocols, including sentinel lymph node injections prior to breast surgery.
To administer radioactive medicinal products, together with any adjunct drugs as required by the individual procedure being performed.
To be aware of potential adverse effects from such drugs.

The Bereavement and Mortuary Service at Betsi Cadwaladr Health board is looking for an enthusiastic, committed individual to join them as a qualified Anatomical Pathology Technician.
You will assist in maintaining the Mortuary and body storage services, across the Health board, while working to your vocational and academic qualifications.
This is a mentally and physically challenging role, managing the deceased and bereaved, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
This role is for those that already hold the RSPH Level 3 or 4 in Anatomical Pathology or equivalent qualifications. Banding salary will be dependent on the qualification and experience.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a professional, enthusiastic, self motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Essential quality is being able to demonstrate empathy towards the bereaved. Within the role there will be regular contact with external agencies such as Coroner services, Police and Funeral Directors. Current working knowledge of Home Office & Coronial post mortem requirements and the Human Tissue Authority Standards is also required.
You should be able to assist pathologist to a high-quality standard with Coronial and hospital post-mortems. You will be required to provide mortuary and bereavement cover on other sites within BCUHB.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job summary
The Nuclear Medicine Physics service at the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board currently operates at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) site. We currently provide a busy DXA , non-imaging and therapy nuclear medicine service. We also provide support to the sub-region on a daily basis. We are a friendly team of 17 with plans to expand the service over the next few years.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Clinical Technologist or Radiographer at Band 5 to join our supportive and collaborative team. The successful candidate will contribute to areas including clinical, technical and quality assurance.
THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 6 MONTHS
Main duties of the job
Undertake and deliver imaging, non-imaging and therapy services for all types of patients and in the course of their duties.
Provide patient support, counselling and welfare of patients, including ensuring the correct patient preparation and preparation compliance ahead of complex examinations.
Work independently within their scope of practice using a range of highly specialised patient nuclear medicine equipment. They will learn to differentiate between technical and clinical problems and to liaise with suitably qualified colleagues as required.
Deal routinely with patients and their relatives, requiring tact and sensitivity. Patients include paediatric and geriatric, who may be physically or mentally impaired, and all will need dealing with in an empathetic manner, in order to gain the greatest cooperation during highly complex examinations
Work with and handling hazardous substances such as unsealed radioactive sources, blood, and other body fluids, and frequently manoeuvring heavy equipment.
Will deliver excellent patient care while they are in the department this will involve manual handling, often of ill patients, some of which may be being barrier nursed, requiring the implementation of infection control procedures. The post holder will be required to concentrate on a frequent basis.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job summary
Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS) offer a range of diagnostics tests across a number of departments. The Cellular Pathology service receives approximately 56,000 cases per year across 3 NHS Trusts; University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, George Eliot NHS Trust and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.
CWPS have been given funding for extra laboratory workforce to support in meeting the increasing demand for Histology case processing and Cancer Services across the Trusts. We are looking for a Specialist Dissector or Trainee to join our busy and experienced dissection team.
The successful candidate will hold HCPC registration and will hold the IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice (DEP) for Dissection, a Trainee will have HCPC registration and have experience in dissection working at a band 6 level (with an IBMS Specialist portfolio) and a drive to gain the IBMS DEP in dissection. The post holder will be expected to work at UHCW and South Warwick Hospital sites, with shifts being 7.5 hours between 0700-1900 Monday to Saturday on a rotational basis.
The trainee dissector will be paid as a band 6 until the IBMS DEP is achieved.
The interview likely to be conducted on the week of the 5th October , subject to availability.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for performing, allocating and supervising the tasks required for the delivery of a fit for purpose medical laboratory service. Analyses and selects clinical samples to provide a diagnostic service to achieve the objectives of efficient and effective patient care, and effective resource management across the CWPS Network at the UHCW and SWFT sites.
The Histology laboratories are based at University Hospital Coventry and Warwick Hospital. It is an exciting time to join the department as we are currently implementing new laboratory equipment. We have also recently implemented the Sectra Digital Pathology solution and brand new Hamamatsu scanners, and will be upgrading the Pathology LIMS system in 2026.
As a trainee we will support your IBMS DEP dissection qualification with and experienced team to support you, protected time in the working week and external course attendance.
Breadth of specimens are defined but not limited to categories RCpath A-C. These have routine specimens and are covered by detailed SOPs. To understand the limits of their practice and know when to forward cases to pathologists or the Specialist scientific leads. Some training in D and E specimen is expected.

Job summary
The Network of Mortuaries at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire currently have vacancies in the Anatomical Pathology Technician (APT) team. Trainee APTs that are currently undertaking the Level 3 Diploma in APT are also encouraged to apply. Other candidates with mortuary experience who have not yet commenced an APT diploma may be considered for interview should no suitable qualified persons be appointed and will be paid at band 3 until their qualification is complete.
Our Mortuary network cares for over 4,000 patients per year. We are the busiest forensic department in the region serving West Midlands, West Mercia and Warwick Police forces, with over 1,000 patients each year. We undertake a variety of work to include forensic work and we are in the process of expanding our mortuary capacity as we strive to continually improve our services.
Our department of 14 staff work across the sites of UHCW, South Warwick and Rugby St Cross Hospitals. As a trained APT you will be required to have an understanding of current mortuary practice and have knowledge of routine hospital post mortems, high risk cases, Coroner's cases, forensic work and paediatrics, including the documentation and legislation associated with death and organ retention. Previous experience of dealing with the public and being sensitive to cultural needs and dealing with the bereaved is required. All members of our team support the bereavement team.
Main duties of the job
To assist the Network Mortuary Manager and the Senior APTs in the day-to-day running of the Trust's mortuaries, performing a broad range of technical work activities ensuring that the provision of an efficient service that is in accordance with Trust, Coroner's and Department of Health regulations and requirements.
To participate in the on call service for the forensic services (including out of hours) and be available whenever possible for any hospital enquiries, working across all 3 sites.
We expect the candidate to be computer literate as the role involves the use of Microsoft packages.
A full driving license with access to own transport is disirable, we operate over 3 sites- University Hospital Coventry, South Warwickshire Foundation rust and Rugby St Cross Hospital and you are expected to help support all sites.
You will be required to have good communication and keyboard skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
At UHCW we follow national, departmental and trust standards and protocols including the HTA codes of practice and adhere to UKAS, CQC, RCPath guidelines. We prepare for our HTA and UKAS inspections by maintaining high standards of quality by conducting audits, formulating risk assessments/SOPs and investigating incidents in which you will be required to co-ordinate the team.

Main duties of the job
If successful, you will:
- Learn how to work in the disinfection area, work in progress, sterilization room and distribution section with training and support in order to fully understand the process and function of each area.
- Operate all capital equipment safely following work instructions. 28 Cubic foot sterilisers operating parameters of 137 c, manually operated using trolleys: Washer disinfectors operating parameters of 90c manual loading, unloading, pushing and pulling required.

- Ensure all reusable invasive medical devices are fit for purpose, clean, present, and reprocessed to the HTM 01 series, and departmental processes (follow manufacturer's instructions).

- Report to a senior colleague any failure with capital equipment as soon as it is identified in order that it is repaired as soon as possible.

The department is a teaching environment supporting the educational and clinical development of junior trainees and non-medical teams (including Nurse Practitioners, ACPs, Orthoptists and Optometrists) to support their development within extended roles.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within the Royal Eye Unit where our multidisciplinary team see over 70,000 patients per year. We offer a full range of hospital eye care services including specialist outpatient clinics, admitted care and an acute referral service for eye emergencies.
This is a substantive role based in the Royal Eye Unit at Kingston Hospital. The post is full time, 10 PAs per week. There is no on-call element and the post holder will be actively involved in supporting the Acute Referral Clinic (ARC).
