Job summary
As a Registered Nurse in the emergency department you will be working across all areas of the specialty including Triage, Minor Injuries and Illness (Ambulatory Pathway), Majors (Clinical Assessment), trauma and Resus. The department runs 24 hours a day so shift work including nights would be required.
We are looking for suitably qualified nurses from a variety of adult nursing specialties that have transferrable skills to aid patient assessment, investigation, diagnosis and the management of patients with an emergency injury/ illness.
Main duties of the job
Working within the Emergency Department, your main duties will include:

Organising and participating in the delivery of high standards of evidence-based nursing care.

Taking responsibility to carry out required planned, direct patient care to a high standard without direct supervision, in accordance with established nursing procedures and policies.
-
Contributing towards the health promotion for all patients by provided education, support and advice as necessary, ensuring referral to appropriate professionals or agencies as required.
-
In the absence of senior staff, taking responsibility for the delegation and supervision of appropriate work to other qualified staff, healthcare support workers and students.
-
Where relevant, be responsible and assist in the co-ordination of discharge planning in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
-
Taking personal responsibility for treating all patients with courtesy, respecting their individual needs and always maintaining confidentiality.
-
Ensuring provision of a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

Job summary
The role is a 1-year fixed term opportunity (or possible secondment) with the aim of securing further extension into a permanent role with the successful implementation of the service. The service offers a consistent, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to young people presenting with high-risk behaviours including self-harm, suicidal ideation, and emotional dysregulation. The primary aim is to reduce inpatient admissions and A&E presentations, support timely transitions from inpatient to community settings, and enhance the long-term emotional wellbeing of young people and their families. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality, structured fully comprehensive DBT-A programme, including individual therapy, multifamily group skills training, telephone coaching and active participation in the weekly DBT consultation team. They will work closely with other DBT therapists, CAMHS colleagues, crisis teams, schools, Tier 4 providers, and other community stakeholders to ensure effective engagement, risk management, and continuity of care for young people accessing the pathway.
Main duties of the job
The role includes contributing to the coordination and implementation of the DBT-A model within a multi-disciplinary framework, providing specialist DBT assessment and intervention, supporting trauma-informed care planning, and offering consultation and training to professionals across the local system. Main duties of the job
Manage repeat prescription processes, including resolving queries, maintaining accurate medication records, and working from prescribing ledgers in a timely manner.
Undertake medicines reconciliation following discharge or correspondence from secondary care, community services, and clinics.
Maintain and optimise repeat medication lists, including synchronisation, review date management, electronic repeat dispensing, and appropriate amendments under agreed protocols.
Support care home and nursing home patients through medicines optimisation, prescription changes, and liaison with clinicians and community pharmacies.
Deliver patient-facing clinics where appropriate, including medicines optimisation, secondary prevention, cardiovascular disease (CVD) support, and frailty reviews.

It is responsible for receiving, screening and clinically triaging referrals, ensuring service users are directed to the most appropriate service in a timely and safe manner. The model supports rapid decision making, prioritisation of risk, and coordination of responses, including escalation to face-to-face crisis assessment where indicated. The service aims to reduce duplication across services, and deliver consistent performance against response standard.

The post will concentrate on elective Shoulder surgery. The post will allow the surgeon to develop a specialist interest in Shoulder surgery and applicants should have either completed or be about to complete their training in this area. The unit is involved in clinical research into joint replacement and the Fellow will be involved in this. There is no out of hours on call commitment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional clinician with strong clinical experience to be a family therapist in the Children and Young People's Gender Service (North West). We are a Phase 1 Provider of Gender Services provided in partnership by Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
As the family therapist in the service you will lead the family therapy clinic and provide specialist assessment and therapeutic interventions to children, young people and their families. You will have protected time specifically for family therapy. The role will also include liaison and engagement with a range of partnership agencies to ensure an integrated and coordinate care plan is provided. Experience of providing supervision to clinical practitioners will also be essential to this role.
Successful candidates will have a passion for delivering safe, high quality and effective services to children and young people and will be a strong communicator, committed and well organised, with the ability to work effectively as a senior clinician in a multidisciplinary team.
