Clinical Psychologist - Homeless Psychology -Band 8a
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust View all jobs
Posted 16 day(s) ago
Reference: 2357316
Job summary
Come and Join Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, where we offer a wide variety of challenging and rewarding roles within a supportive, innovative and dynamic work environment!
We have an excellent opportunity for a Part time Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to join our Planned Care services providing input to the Homeless Mental Health Service (HMHS) specifically supporting people with substance use difficulties.
This is a 12 month, fixed term post, with a 15 hour work week, which can be worked flexibly, based at OSL House, LE19 1XU. The post sits within our award-winning Homeless Mental Health Service (HMHS) supporting a Public Health initiative to reach those who are rough sleeping with substance use difficulties within the City.
This role is expected to include some street outreach work and clinical work in venues where those experiencing homelessness feel comfortable (e.g. frequently from city centre hostels and day centres). The health and wellbeing of our team members is very important to us and we offer a robust induction period, as well as regular supervision and support.
You will have opportunities to progress your career with a structured learning journey that will enable you to achieve your long-term goals and work to your strengths.
Contact Details: Dr. Dani Harker-Brown [email protected] / Dr. Suzanne Elliot [email protected]
Main duties of the job
You will work alongside two established 8b Clinical Psychologists who will offer regular clinical supervision, line management and ad-hoc support. You will offer specialist assessment, formulation and intervention to service-users. Indirect work will include reflective practice and psychologically-informed training and supervising others.
You will play a key role in service development, including in further nurturing a psychologically-informed service culture.
The post offers the opportunity to develop leadership qualities and a substantial part of the indirect work will be multi-agency partnership working. Crucially, these services view the difficulties faced by service-users within the socio-political context of their lives and you will be able to develop this aspect of your psychology praxis.
We have strong links to the University of Leicester DClinPsy course; offering teaching sessions, trainee placements and input to the development of the curriculum. Our service is also part of a network of LPT clinical psychologists representing adult mental health, child, learning disability, neuropsychology, health psychology and forensic mental health, and you will be encouraged to be a part of this forum. The Trust has excellent on-line and face to face training sessions and applications for external training are welcomed.

We strive to enable a welcoming workplace culture that builds and celebrates civility, inclusivity and diversity, while providing a sense of belonging and trust.
Annual staff surveys, regular Pulse surveys and other engagement opportunities provide our people with lots of opportunity to tell us about their experiences of working with us. In the latest staff survey, 61% of colleagues gave us their views. It was great to hear that:
- 72% of colleagues would recommend the Trust as a place to work, ranking us 1st for Provider Trusts in the South West region on this question.
- 76% would recommend the standard of care provided in our services if a friend or relative needed treatment, also ranking us 1st in the South West region.
- 81% said that care of patients and service users is the Trust's priority, compared with an average in comparable NHS Trusts in England of 64%.
This high-level overview shows we are in a healthy position, with higher scores than average for comparable organisations, alongside a great response rate, indicating good staff engagement. However, we also know we have plenty of room for improvement in many areas. To that end, we continue to prioritise and invest in our commitment to genuinely becoming a Great Place to Work with consistent top-quartile performance in the annual staff survey and Pulse surveys.

We understand that AI can be a useful tool when completing your application. However, we are seeing an increasing over-reliance of AI tools, which can negatively affect your application as it reduces a candidates individuality, and makes it difficult for us to gain a clear and authentic understanding of your experience, skills, and in turn your suitability for the role. All submissions must be truthful and if you do use AI, it should only be used to enhance your application and not create your supporting statement in its entirety. Your supporting statement should be in your own words and must accurately reflect your personal experience and achievements. Where we have concerns that AI has been used to generate content that misrepresents your experience and suitability for the role, we may withdraw your application. As part of our vision to have a skilled, diverse and caring workforce, Dorset HealthCare offers support for people getting into work. We offer an employability service to support individuals with application writing, interview skills and other employment support. If you would like or know of anyone who would value this support, please do [email protected]
