Chief Pharmacy Technician - ePMA & Digital Services
Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust View all jobs
Posted 20 day(s) ago
Reference: 2347659
Job summary
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Pharmacy Technician with a passion for digital healthcare, who is looking to take their next career step and join us as a Chief Technician, ePMA.
As part of our established Pharmacy Digital and Informatics Team, you'll help us maintain, develop and optimise the EPMA system, working with colleagues from across the Trust to improve prescribing and patient safety.
You'll work with a broad range of people along the way. Supporting colleagues individually and delivering training to larger groups, to contributing to multidisciplinary discussions, digital projects and system developments, you'll have the opportunity to build relationships across different professions and specialties.
We're looking for someone who can explain things clearly, find creative ways to make training engaging and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves when problems needs solving.
Healthcare is becoming increasingly digital, and this role gives you the opportunity to be at the forefront of that change. You'll expand your specialist skills inEPMA systems, while using your pharmacy knowledge to challenge existing ways of working and help us improve how medicines are prescribed and administered.
Unlike a lot of digital pharmacy technician roles, you'll still have the opportunity to retain your operational pharmacy skills in the dispensary, but the majority of your role will focus on our digital medicines systems and supporting the people who use them.
Main duties of the job
- To help maintain and optimise our Trust Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) systems as an integral member of the Pharmacy Digital Team.
- Provide expert training and support to multidisciplinary staff using the Trust Oracle Cerner Millenium EPMA system.
- Working with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement system changes to promote safe prescribing in line with Trust clinical guidelines.
- Work in collaboration with the wider Trust Digital Teams on projects, system upgrades and configuration and regression testing.
- Design, build and implement prescribing protocols, order sets and clinical decision support tools in line with Trust guidelines.
- Contribute to medication safety initiatives through system design, audit and continuous quality improvement.
About us
Kingston & Richmond NHS Foundation Trust Pharmacy Department provides a high quality, professional pharmacy service and has a strong track record in delivery quality and innovative services. Both the Pharmacy Department and the Trust have a long-standing reputation for being a friendly, rewarding and compassionate place to work.
We work closely with colleagues across the wider multidisciplinary team, so you won't be tucked away behind a computer working on ePMA in isolation. You'll get to know people across different professions and specialties and become someone colleagues turn to when they need help navigating our digital systems.
As this is a role that sits between pharmacy, people and digital, there's a real opportunity to learn. You'll be surrounded by experienced pharmacy colleagues while also building relationships with teams across the Trust, giving you exposure to areas you might not ordinarily encounter in a traditional pharmacy technician role.
We want you to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas and challenging the way we do things. If you spot something that could work better, we want to hear about it.

Reference: 2347653
Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our fast paced and dynamic Acute Frailty Therapy Team in Queen's Hospital.
As a Band 6 Physiotherapist in a large and busy team you will be required to demonstrate leadership skills and be confident to work as an autonomous practitioner with a focus on early assessment and discharge planning, with rapid and robust decision-making essential for efficient patient flow.
You will be familiar with the assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, cognitive, and psychological health conditions within elderly and medical specialities to develop and deliver treatment and discharge plans.
The Team works closely with the larger Multidisciplinary Team to care for acutely unwell frail patients attending the hospital and through collaborative decision making with our colleagues we facilitate safe and rapid discharge from hospital. We are based in Queen's Emergency Department, Frailty SDEC, Medical SDEC, Queen's Frailty Unit and an elderly inpatient ward in Queen's Hospital.
The team is an integrated service with Occupational Therapy, and you will be supported by Band 7 Physiotherapists, a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist and a Band 8a Clinical Lead. The team is very supportive and there are lots of opportunities to develop both clinical and non-clinical skills, with access to internal and external courses.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard of physiotherapy service, facilitating and maximising patient potential within the service boundaries
To fulfil a teaching and supervisory role with peers, Junior staff and Students on placement
About us
We're an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we're proud of and our patients are happy with.
They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.
We operate from two main sites - KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We're campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen's and get rid of corridor care.
We're proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
We run a Women's Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The majority of our 8,400 staff - who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We're proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
