Job summary
Do you have lived experience of mental distress which has been understood as Complex Emotional Needs or diagnosed as personality disorder and have previously worked in a range of settings as a peer support worker, lived experience worker or equivalent role?
If so, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Peer Support Worker to work as part of the Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) pathway, which is part of the Brent Integrated Psychology & Psychotherapy Service (BIPPS) within the Brent Community Mental Health hubs. This is a unique opportunity for someone with their own lived experience to support the continued effort to embed the authentic values of coproduction within the CEN Pathway.
With support from the Trust-wide CEN Advanced Lived Experience Practitioner, the successful post-holder will work alongside members of BIPPS and the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team within the Brent Community Mental Health Hub to support the development and delivery of the Brent CEN Pathway.
The role is aimed at candidates whose distress can been understood as Complex Emotional Needs or diagnosed as personality disorder and have experiences of having used secondary care mental health services AND previously worked in a range of settings as a peer support worker, lived experience worker or equivalent role. Please make the above information clear in your application.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will take a lead role in embedding recovery values within the service settings in which they work alongside other Trust recovery champions. The post holder will act as an ambassador of recovery for the Trust alongside others through positively sharing and drawing upon aspects of own lived experience to inspire others, challenge stigma and discrimination, as well as promote recovery.
The successful post-holder will achieve these aims by working directly with service users, either one-to-one or in a group setting, as well as continually representing the people they're working with in other meetings and settings, challenging the particular stigma that can be associated with complex emotional needs or a diagnosis of personality disorder. CNWL has one of the largest lived experience workforces in the country and there will be an expectation that the postholder will contribute to this wider team.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can work flexibility under supervision, to meeting the demands of this exciting and very varied position. Regular clinical and lived experience specific supervision will be provided.
About us
BIPPS is comprised of colleagues who deliver individual, group and family therapies from a wide range of different theoretical models addressing the needs of service users with severe and complex psychological difficulties. We offer intensive, long-term care and whose needs cannot be adequately met within a brief treatment framework. We are proud of the breadth of our psychological interventions, in particular, within the CEN Pathway we offer full programmes of both DBT and MBT, as well as short-term and long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy, CAT-informed interventions, CBT and EMDR; we also work closely with our Art Psychotherapy colleagues who offer an Arts MBT programme. Our CEN psycho-education group and MBT programmeco-delivered with our existing CEN Advanced Lived Experience Practitioner
We are passionate about delivering first-class patient-centred, safe and effective care, whether it is in a hospital setting, in a community clinic or in the patient's own home. Patients are at the heart of everything we do. Providing top quality care depends on our ability to employ the best people. We're always looking to recruit outstanding people who will go the extra mile to support our patients, colleagues, teams and the Trust. At CNWL we support our colleagues to access the many opportunities for professional development that exist.

Chief Nurse
Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust View all jobs
Posted 27 day(s) ago
Reference: 2324318
Job summary
Thank you for your interest in joining Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust. Our patients and staff are at the heart of everything we do. As Chief Executive, I am proud of the incredible commitment and compassion shown by our teams across Kent and Medway. This is an exciting time for us, as we continue to evolve our culture and have a relentless focus on quality, in addition to the opportunities presented by the NHS 10-year plan and the launch of our new five-year strategy.
The Chief Nurse is a critical role for the organisation and will be fundamental in successfully delivering our quality improvement plan (QIP). We are committed to providing high-quality services for our local population, ensuring that we improve patient outcomes, working in collaboration with our partners to deliver care closer to home in local neighbourhoods. You will help us turn that ambition into better outcomes and experiences for the people we serve.
Through your leadership you will support the delivery of high quality, compassionate care and provide strategic advice to the Trust Board on patient safety, quality assurance and regulatory standards. You will be the lead executive for our relationship with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Main duties of the job
As a member of our executive team and Trust Board, you will also play a key role in shaping our culture and leading improvement across the organisation, recognising that a positive, inclusive culture and the quality of care we provide are intrinsically linked. You will champion the voices and experiences of patients, families and carers, ensuring they shape how we improve and develop our services.
We are seeking an experienced senior mental health/learning disability nurse leader who brings extensive experience of the key areas of quality, patient safety, workforce development, and infection prevention and control. Finally, you will lead our approach to the identification, mitigation and management of risk. You will have the experience and ability to operate at Board level and work as part of a highly engaged executive team.
You will be a visible and compassionate leader who aligns people behind our vision to help communities stay well and live well, and who embodies our values: caring in how you lead and the standards you set; inclusive in how you listen and bring people together; curious about how we can continually learn and improve; and confident in constructively challenging and taking action when things need to change.
About us
We are Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust. We care for the mental health and wellbeing of people across Kent and Medway and are rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Our teams support children, young people and adults with a wide range of mental health needs. We also provide specialist services, including all-age eating disorder services and neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people, such as autism and ADHD.
Because we work across the whole county and across hospital and community settings, we can make care more joined up and easier to access for the people we serve.
Our vision is simple: we are here to help communities not just live with mental illness, but live well. It's why we're passionate about working with communities to make mental health care better for everyone. Everything we do is guided by our values: caring, inclusive, curious and confident.
Join us if you share our passion for better mental health care and want to be part of a team that's working well together.

About us
We are a group of three small, friendly GP practices West Town Surgery, Killingholme Surgery and Barnetby Surgery serving our local communities.
Each practice has its own individual team and identity, while working closely together and as part of the wider Primary Care Network. This gives us the benefits of being small, local practices while also having access to a wider multidisciplinary team and shared support.
We pride ourselves on providing personal, patient-centred care and building good relationships with our patients and staff. Our smaller practice setting allows clinicians to get to know their patients and work closely with the wider practice team.
We are continuing to develop our services and ways of working, with a focus on improving patient access, continuity of care, clinical quality and staff support. We are looking for people who want to be part of that development and who will bring their own ideas and experience to our practices.
The successful GP will work across all three sites, supported by friendly clinical, administrative and wider PCN colleagues.
