Job Title:Clinical Research Fellow Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Fixed term
Duration:12 months
Purpose for Fixed Term: Short term funding
This post is appointed on a fixed-term basis for the primary purpose of providing structured training and supervised clinical development. While the postholder will contribute to service delivery, the overarching purpose of the post is to provide defined educational opportunities, supervised clinical practice, and experience aligned to the relevant specialty training curriculum
Further details about the role can be found in the job description below.
Main duties of the job
As part of our team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues, helping to deliver excellent services and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. As part of the expansion of the Southampton Clinical Research programme, a new clinical research fellow post is available. 50% of your time will be spent on research service provision to Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and other studies at the SCBR and UHS.
The remaining 50% of your time will be available to be spent supervised by a designated clinical academic with the intention of providing the time and support for an application to be made for a formal research training fellowship (eg MRC, Wellcome Trust or NIHR RTF) and registration for study towards a higher degree (usually PhD). The post will be appointed for 12 months in the first instance.

UHS is rated 'Good' by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.
We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 30% lower than London and 17 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.
We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

We are delighted to offer an opportunity for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) within the Directorate of Urgent and Emergency Care at Oldham Care Organisation. This is a permanent, full time position 37.5 hours per week). An MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice is essential, however we welcome applications from newly qualified, almost qualified and experienced ACP's who have a real passion in admission avoidance.
SDEC boasts a diverse team of ACP's who are supported by medical and nursing staff. Autonomously assessing, investigating and managing same day emergency medical patients will be your primary role; also, you will in-reach into the Emergency Department (ED) as well as supporting referrals from GP's and NWAS. The ACP team together with the consultant Clinical Lead, the nursing team and clerical staff are committed to the ongoing success of SDEC through innovative pathway development and collaborative working, both in secondary and primary care. Essentially, we strive to ensure the right person receives access to the right care at the right time, by the right person.
Patient experience of SDEC is of fundamental importance to our reputation and growth and we work hard to exceed patient expectations; you will possess highly developed interpersonal skills and be an authentic and values based individual.
Main duties of the job
Your clinical caseload will be diverse and case management should be underpinned by a dedicated approach to patient-centred care and collaborative working alongside our multi-disciplinary teams, to ensure a tailored management plan is put in place which addresses both current issues and proactively looks to prevent potential issues which may arise. Sound clinical reasoning and risk management are key skills required to ensure that we can safely avoid admissions and continue to monitor patients via an ambulatory pathway
