Why This Role?
You'll step into a consultant position with genuine scope to innovate, lead, and make a measurable impact across both acute and community mental health pathways. As the trust transitions to a modern, placebased locality model aligned with the Community Mental Health Framework, your expertise will help drive meaningful change for service users and staff alike.
A Role Shaped Around You
There is flexibility within the job plan, with opportunities to work across both community and acute settings. The final structure will be agreed collaboratively with the Associate Medical Director and service manager to reflect your interests, strengths, and career aspirations.
Join Us and Receive a 30,000 Golden Hello
As part of our commitment to attracting outstanding talent, we are delighted to offer a 30,000 Golden Hello to successful eligible candidates appointed to this Consultant post. This is a unique opportunity to take the next step in your career while receiving a generous financial incentive as a welcome to our Trust. Subject to terms and conditions.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties
The postholder will provide senior clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary team and contribute actively to the Trust's clinical governance, service development, and strategic planning processes.
Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with senior clinical colleagues to ensure clarity of professional roles, responsibilities, and accountability for all aspects of patient care.
Promote effective communication within and between teams, ensuring timely and accurate transfer of relevant clinical information.
Support a culture of openness, learning, and continuous improvement, encouraging staff to raise concerns, discuss challenges, and contribute to team decisionmaking.
Ensure that patient care is well coordinated, particularly where responsibilities are shared across services, and that patients know whom to contact regarding their care.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of systems for identifying, assessing, and managing clinical risk within the service.
Participate in regular review of team performance, addressing deficiencies and supporting quality improvement initiatives.
Manage issues relating to conduct, performance, or health of team members in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
Respect and value the skills and contributions of all team members, promoting effective multidisciplinary working.
Participate in locality business planning and contribute to wider Trust strategic and service development activities.
About us
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a newly established organisation, bringing together expertise from across mental health, learning disabilities, community, and physical health services. We are dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality, and accessible care to the diverse communities of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
With over 12,000 dedicated staff working across more than 300 sites, we place patients and staff at the centre of everything we do. By working together, we aim to improve patient outcomes, drive innovation, and meet the unique needs of the populations we serve.
Our Trust unites services from Southern Health, Solent NHS Trust, Isle of Wight NHS Trust's community and mental health teams, as well as Hampshire CAMHS, originally part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This transformation enables us to deliver more seamless care across the region, ensuring that patients receive the right support, in the right place, at the right time.
Join us as we embark on this exciting journey to shape the future of healthcare across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We are deeply committed to our CARE values of compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence, and offer outstanding opportunities for career development, training, and collaborative working.
