- Providing safe and compassionate care within a total quality system, upholding the clinical standards of the service by ensuring they are working within their limitations, ensuring best practice and clinical effectiveness is achieved within policy frameworks.
- Working within a total quality management system approach, to maintain nursing practice standards to meet local regulatory frameworks, licences, and laws.

We understand that AI can be a useful tool when completing your application. However, we are seeing an increasing over-reliance of AI tools, which can negatively affect your application as it reduces a candidate's individuality, and makes it difficult for us to gain a clear and authentic understanding of your experience, skills, and in turn your suitability for the role.
All submissions must be truthful and if you do use AI, it should only be used to enhance your application and not create your supporting statement in its entirety. Your supporting statement should be in your own words and must accurately reflect your personal experience and achievements. Where we have concerns that AI has been used to generate content that misrepresents your experience and suitability for the role, we may withdraw your application.

5. Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment of complex referrals, including consideration of ARFID and non-ARFID psychopathology, neurodevelopmental presentations and comorbid mental health difficulties.

Throughout the Learning Disabilities Service, we focus our efforts on maximising people's independence and delivering the targets of the Valuing People White Paper. The Consultant Psychiatrist plays a key role in the delivery of these aims, ensuring that people with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Problems are supported to live in the community and are able to receive excellent treatment when they need it. The Consultant also has a crucial liaison role to play with the small number of out of borough healthcare placements, in supporting clinical and care management staff to facilitate discharge to appropriate community placements. The Consultant Psychiatrist is also a key member of the service's senior management team and as such is expected to contribute to service development and clinical governance. The successful candidate will work with multidisciplinary colleagues in the Luton and Bedford Learning Disabilities Service, to provide a specialist mental health service to adults with learning disability in the Bedford county.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide consultant leadership to the service and will assume consultant psychiatrist responsibility for a defined caseload, including that of one of the junior doctors. As appropriate, this may include taking a lead on compliance with the Mental Health Act and CQC requirements. They will participate, directly and indirectly, in the assessment of patients referred to the service and in drawing up care plans which will address the patients' psychiatric, physical and social needs. For patients subject to the care program approach and for these patients the interventions provided by team will be under the supervision of the post holder. Good communication will be undertaken with the patient's care coordinator and with other consultant psychiatrists involved in the care of the patient. When a review of the care plan is indicated, the post-holder will participate in such reviews and include the GP, carer or any other relevant professionals. The post-holder will forge good working relationships with other mental health services in the directorate and beyond in order to encourage appropriate referrals to the service and to assure a cooperative approach to the care of patients accessing those services. The post-holder will participate in service evaluation and information-gathering exercises designed to gain a better understanding of the functioning of the service in order to monitor performance, quality and underpin future service developments.

As a Support Time and Recovery Worker, you'll play a vital role in helping people experiencing mental health difficulties achieve their personal recovery goals. Working as part of a supportive and compassionate Community Mental Health Service, you'll build meaningful therapeutic relationships, provide practical and emotional support, and help people develop the confidence and skills needed to live independently.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll support people in their own homes and community settings, as well as working with individuals during inpatient stays to help them prepare for a successful return home. You'll be part of an innovative service that works closely with primary care, specialist mental health teams, and voluntary and community organisations to provide truly integrated support.
At Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, you'll join a team that values kindness, respect and teamwork, where your contribution is recognised and where you'll receive ongoing supervision, training and support to develop your skills and career.
If you're compassionate, resilient, and passionate about supporting recovery, we'd love to hear from you.

In this role, you will:
- Support people with mental health needs to work towards their recovery goals and engage with their care plans.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions under supervision, helping individuals develop coping strategies, build confidence, and improve wellbeing.
- Provide practical and emotional support to individuals and their carers, promoting independence and positive outcomes.
- Help identify changes in a person's mental health and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate support is in place.
- Work collaboratively with health, social care, housing, voluntary sector and community partners to provide joined-up care.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing evaluation of the care provided.

Working alongside qualified professionals, fellow Support Time and Recovery Workers, primary care colleagues and voluntary sector partners, you'll help deliver person-centred care that focuses on strengths, recovery and hope.
You will spend much of your time working directly with people in their homes and local communities, helping them develop skills for daily living, improve social connections, access community resources, and work towards greater independence. You may also support individuals during periods of inpatient care, helping to maintain continuity of support and ease their transition back into community life.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with people in a caring, support, customer-facing or community-based role.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a compassionate and person-centred approach.
- Can remain calm, professional and supportive when working with people experiencing distress or challenging situations.
- Is organised, able to manage their own workload, and works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Holds an NVQ in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), or is willing to undertake training to achieve this qualification.
- Is committed to supporting equality, diversity, recovery and inclusion for everyone who uses our services.
- Is comfortable using digital systems and technology to support high-quality care.
This post requires a full driving licence and permanent access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance, as travel throughout the community is an essential part of the role and you must be able to work across a 24/7 shift pattern as required including weekends and nights
In return, you'll benefit from regular supervision, ongoing learning opportunities, support from experienced colleagues, and the chance to make a genuine difference to people's recovery journeys every day.
